Role PlayingWAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
In case you can't tell, this is one of the high points in my life. Donning that imaginary chain-mail, swiping that Pentex agent, ah... who has a reality problem?
Role Playing stems from Wargames, where people built little armies, or reenacted wars, and tried to kill each other. However, this was all large scale, and some enterprising people adapted it to a fantasy setting, and with each person having their own individual, and a guy in charge. This was Dungeons and Dragons, by TSR. This was (and still is) great fun, and encouraged other people to do the same. Soon, roleplayers sprouted like weeds, little people with funny sided dice, lots of books and paper, and a dazed view of reality. Cries of "ALRIGHT, 20!!!" were heard around the globe. (well, at least my living room).
Individual GamesNow, I'm going to have to put a bit of information in here, so bear with. Dungeons and Dragons, Marvel Saga, and lots of other terms in that area are copyright by Wizards of the Coast/ TSR. World of Darkness, Garou, Tribe/Auspice/Breeds etc. are copyright White Wolf. Relapse, Charles and Cupboard the characters are copyright Colin Morris.
DnDThis is Dungeons and Dragons, the original fantasy game. This has _loads_ of supplements for almost everything imaginable. Beautiful for the hacker/slasher to the Casanova/roleplayer. Best place to start ur adventuring career. Give it a lookie.Marvel SagaBup-babaBA! Hey, now who hasn't gotten their mum's favourite towel, tied it round then neck and run around the yard with the power to smite evil doers? Well, not many at the age of 20, but hey. Do I come round to your place and critisize you? No, didn't think so [You don't count, Daniel]. Saga's a bit of a twist, card based role-playing which is actually really, really funky. Not to mention you get to play all your favourite Marvel guys'n'girls in the never ending struggle against evil cookies everywhere. Maybe someday I'll write up some adventures for this...write after I finish writing the ones I promised for WoD...and the ones I promised #SS. Ah to heck with it.And, as an added bonus for those of you who enjoy IRC, I've included a script I wrote for ViRC and mIRC that lets you use a Marvel Saga deck across an IRC channel, for live on-line roleplaying. Hey, now I like it. Clickaroonie here for Virc version and Try your luck here for mIRC. Unzip, and follow the Readme-type instructions. World of DarknessWereWolf!Well, I can go on and on about the World being destroyed by the evil Wyrm, and Gaia being ravaged, and Garou (werewolves) being the one creatures who can save the world, but u don't want to hear that. In the interim, however, I'm providing details of my old irc friends group of World of Darkiens :). For more info on stuff, try White Wolf's home page, or if you want to find out about an irc channel specifically for online roleplaying, try this link. Relapse Drea Charles [This character hasn't met Relapse] Oh, and something else that we have discovered through our travels of the High Umbra...something potentially, disasterous Colin Morris C.Morris@mailbox.gu.edu.au Date Last Modified: 12 Oct 1998 |
