To put it simply, the reason why I wrote these pages is because I love music. What other reason do I need? Okay, okay, I have this strange liking for wasting time on the internet...it's an affliction carried by a number of people. You're probably one, you're reading this! Get out and do something more fun!
I guess I would describe this thing as an on-line alternative music fanzine. It's an ongoing thing, I make little and large changes all the time, so it's not really in issues. It's based purely on my own tastes (I don't like Oasis and I'm only just beginning to appreciate Blur, though Damon's voice is one that will always irritate me, sorry!), which I hope are shared by a lot of others, but all I'm really doing is writing stuff which I think would be great and interesting for someone like me to read. I share the title with my friend Stu, a diamond bloke both as a gig-going bud and a guy with similar music tastes to me. Without him I might not bother to do all this. Take a good look around, there's plenty here, you could mail me even!
The UK music scene is an interesting one. There's a fair few good bands around at the moment, as well as an equal quota of over-rated (and under-rated) ones. I don't love any one of them enough to disregard all the rest and devote a bunch of pages to them, instead I try to take a wider view and bring people a lot of news. There's ton's of excellent official and unofficial band sites out there all packed with info and you don't need me repeating it. The best I can do is point out the ones I think are the best and try to keep the news pages for those bands who I follow quite closely and feel I can answer a lot of questions about as up-to-date as possible.
I hope you enjoy browsing these pages, at least enough to come back again. I'm more than happy to answer any queries, and always consider including any links people point out to me.
This site was first created sometime in August 1996, and found it's home at geocities shortly afterwards on September 18th '96.
Cheers, Dan.
