Since 1963 until 1989,
Indonesian viewers only can watch one channel, i.e. TVRI. TVRI is a state-owned TV
network, they have no any commercial ads on their programs since 1980s. The government
(under Indonesian Information Department) allowed the founding of new commercial TV namely
RCTI on August 1989, then SCTV was founded in 1990, TPI in 1991, ANteve in 1992, and the
last one was Indosiar (1994). Indonesian commercial TV networks compete to get more
viewers. There are so many TV series have been showed for Indonesian viewers, from
Indonesian teledramas to Japanese love stories, from Australian soap operas to American
sitcoms, from Mandarin kungfu series to Latin telenovelas, and more...more...more....  The government do not allow the founding of new TV network after Indosiar, but
they allow Indonesian people to subscribe cable TV named Indovision (offering programs
from HBO, MGM, TNT & Cartoon Network, ESPN, Star TV Networks, BBC, Discovery, etc) and
also allow people to use sattelite dish (popular called as 'antena parabola') so that
Indonesian people can watch foreign TV networks via all sattelites above Asia/Pacific,
such as ATVI (Australia), CCTV (China), TV3 (Malaysia), CFI (France), GMA-TV
(Philippines), MTV Asia, CNN International, CNBC-Asia Business News, etc. My favorite TV series are Friends, Mr. Bean, Beverly Hills 90210, MacGyver, Mission Impossible, The X-Files and another sitcoms series. But I do love to watch news, talk shows, and sports programs most, especially soccer, boxing, and badminton. My favorite TV networks are RCTI, Indosiar, CNN International, MTV Asia. And, this is the list of my MIDI collection of TV theme songs. I just display MIDI of TV series which have already or still being broadcasted on 6 Indonesian TV networks. Most of them are American series. |
