when i'm by myself, i can often get a lot done. right now i'm alone. i'm sitting here in front of a computer i don't own, trying to get a message out to humanity that i feel is desperately overdue. being lonely is something you can do by yourself, yes, but it's more acute when you're among lots and lots of "fellow humans". because, you see, most humans are boring. they are not like us. they laugh and giggle at the most stunning irrelevancies. they go on and on about insane childish prattle. their only ideas are stolen. their opinions are unhelpful. they surround us and box us in, in high school, in college, on the street, and in the deli. at work they connive to get ahead of you as if that's their PURPOSE in life. and, if they don't gain your attention by simply taking up your mental space for no reason, they turn HATEFUL AND EVIL. you see, there is no feeling so low as that you feel there is nobody who understands you, nobody with whom you can relate, tell stupid obscure jokes, complain about how terrible
most of the world is. this is loneliness. but we are protected against it, because, see, one of the side-effects to the way we, the MUTATED-TOWARDS-INTERESTING, must live is that we are consumed with a need to create. and see, that is why all good art, music, HTML, etc. comes from the hands, the mouths, the souls of people like you and me. people who contribute to the human experience instead of just feeding off it. and, see, it takes soul to appreciate that experience, you know? many, many people may have bought nevermind but it takes special understanding, an ability, to really relate to others with soul, to put that record to use on a spiritual plane. or something. and that's how a favorite record can save your life, see? by making a record, soul is placed onto a shiny plastic disc. and that soul is forever, even if the vector through which the soul was implemented dies (i.e kurt cobain). and see, feeling that there's another soul out there at all during your time of need is all you need to pull you out of the gravel pit. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. if you were the only person worth a shit in existence, would that record exist? the point is not that you've got a record that rules in your CD player, but that you did not create that record. maybe you wish you did, but you didn't. you are not the only actor in his world, or in your life, that matters, see? that is good news!!! you are not alone! now go find each other. cast your soul far and wide. do interesting things. become involved in projects. create, create, create. conduct each conversation as if it were your last. that's the only way others like you will be able to find you. stop being such a fucken island and broadcast your signal as far as you can. add your voice to the language that we speak to each other. make your mark. if there is a god, you are an authorized representative.
