I did one Interview with Mr. Jon Burton, who plays guitar
in the band Blues Deluxe. I have incorporated the information he
gave me into sections of the search. I also had a telephone
interview with Mitch Brody. He works at a record company. He
told me that record companies look for bands with a hit, and an
average garage band can get signed by getting their song played
on the radio and having a live following. Record companies offer
bands better royalties, money, and creative control to try to get
the band to sign with them. He answered my question about why
1996 wasn’t a good year for the record company. He said
that since computers became popular, people didn’t really
need music for entertainment as much anymore. He also told
me that the first record companies were family owned.
