Gary Moore

Back To The Blues

CMC International

Irish six-string slinger Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy, Colosseum II, Skid Row) has released a blues album titled, "Back To The Blues", that would make any guitar legend smile. Released in the US on CMC International on March 20, Moore displays impressive fretboard work along with a plethora of soulful vocals. The album opens with "Enough of the Blues" that begins with some acoustic slide guitar, reminiscent of the late blues great Robert Johnson, and then Moore kicks it into high gear as he unleashes some blistering licks on electric guitar.

From the horns-saturated "You Upset Me Baby" to the hypnotic instrumental "The Prophet", Moore captivates the listener. Moore's version of T-Bone Walker's standard "Stormy Monday" is my favorite as he puts on display some impressive vocal work. With bassist Pete Rees, keyboardist Vic Martin and drummer Darrin Mooney, Moore has produced a fine testimonial to the blues. This is no surprise as his 1990's album "Still Got The Blues" was a commercial and critical success.
