Mixx Magazine & Sonalysts Indie Showcase

Sonalysts Studios - June 7, 1997

The infamous Marty Walsh with John Perry

Rock Notes On-Line had the opportunity to attend a showcase of over 40 bands at the Mixx Magazine Music Conference & Sonalysts Indie Showcase. Bands came from all points of Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and as far away as Illinois to play for industry folk, the media, fellow musicians and fans. There were five stages set up throughout the Sonalysts Studio grounds and the bands played for a half hour each starting at 10 a.m. and finishing around 6:30 p.m. It was Connecticut's version of Woodstock. At 9 p.m. the group was treated to the Indie Showcase: Lisa McCormick, El Dopa, Hit Me, Bobby Lee Rogers & The Herd, and Generic Joe.

The music conference included panel discussions, Q&A with industry people and a CD listening party which made the day not only enjoyable but also very informative. There were vendor booths, and great food and drink.

We would like to thank Noel Ramos of Mixx Magazine (on-line at Intermixx), Sonalysts Studios, and everybody involved for making this a wonderful event. We had a great time getting to hear some excellent bands along with meeting some new friends (you know who you are). See you next year!
