Diary for January/February 2006
01/02/06 Diary
Scott took the Metrolink to Glendale Friday noon where I met him, and we drove to the Boat.
We went to the Observation Bar Friday night. The L.A. Lyon band was playing. We had a couple of drinks, then went back to the boat to save our energy for New Years Eve.
|
|
We had general Admission tickets which gives us run of the ship except for Sir Winstons. The tickets were $120 each this year. That's $20 more than last year.
The rain had stopped when we arrived at nine oclock. We were able to park fairly near the ship. I checked my coat, and we went up to the promenade deck to take some pictures.
We started at the Observation Bar where the LA Lions were playing again. There was no tables available, so we got our first drink and went looking for somewhere we could sit. That was a constant issue all night, and poor Scott had problems with his feet. I am not sure that I want to go to the Queen Mary next year for that reason. I think the hors doeurvre were better this year though, and we had some as we were searching for somewhere to sit.
We found seats at the big band room for a while and danced, then spent some time in the Jazz room, and the Country Western room. We also went to the Comedy club for a while. We ended up back in the Observation Bar for the midnight count down, and actually found a table. It was fun. I found that you could take the balloons that were dropped at midnight and stretch them to make them look like a big penis. The lady sitting with us at the table turned very red in the face when I did that.
We went outside at 12:15 for the fireworks, but the fog had rolled in and you couldnt see more than a few feet, so we went back in for a night cap of coffee.
I wanted another picture on my camera when we started walking back to the car. I managed to drop my camera, and it stopped working. Great! That means I will be without a camera again for a while.

Sunday morning was get well time. We both needed to get home that night, so we drove to a restaurant near the Union Station for a sandwich and a couple of drinks. I left Scott off at the station for his train to Simi Valley, and I went home.
01/10/06 Diary
We finally got Scott to Catalina. It was a hell of a great way to start off 2006.
Scott had the week after New Years off, so we went to the boat Wednesday to prepare it for the trip. We topped the fuel tanks off, and checked the engines. It had been raining earlier in the week so the exterior was fairly clean. The big issue was if/or how we would take the dinghy over. I didn’t want to carry it on the swim step as I used to do, because it would drop the stern down too much and I didn’t want to use the trim tabs. We cleaned the dinghy’s bottom and decided to drag it behind. We didn’t go out Wednesday night , so we could get an early start Thursday.
The sea conditions forecast on NOAA radio on Thursday morning was for large swells and three foot wind waves, so we decided to not go. The wind died down by noon, and we thought we should go out to sea to see for ourselves if it was good enough. We left the dock about one o’clock, and through the outer harbor entrance by one thirty.
|
The swell was not noticeable, and the wind waves were down to less than two feet. We started across and were doing well until we got about two thirds over. I notices that the dinghy was taking on water from the ship’s stern spray, so we tied letting it ride further back, but that was worse. We stopped and tried to dump the water from the dinghy, and get it up on the swim step. It was too heavy with water and I managed to break the seat that forms the stringer keeping the sides apart, and that made it worse. We finally got the dinghy up on the swim step and was able to resume our trip after about an hour of screwing around. We got to Avalon Harbor at four o’clock.
There was hardly anyone there, and the mooring assigned to us had no close neighbors. There was a little west wind blowing, but we got hooked up. Finally we could relax and enjoy the view!
We had a couple of drinks, then assessed the condition of the dinghy, and decided not to use it for the trip into town. We called the shore boat. The last time I was in Avalon the shore boat fare was $3 each way. It is now $4.50 each way, so with tip the round trip for the two of us is now $20!
The first thing Scott did when we got ashore was to take off his shoes and walk on the beach, then wade into the water. I always like to start my visits to Avalon at the Marlin Club, so we went there next. It hasn’t changed at all.
The other bar that I used to frequent was the JR, so we stopped there for a drink also.
We decided to have dinner in town, and went to Antonio’s for Pizza. It was a pleasant night, so we sat on the patio overlooking the bay. There wasn’t much open on a Thursday in the winter, and the shore boat quits early so we went back to the boat.
|
|
|
|
We got a late start Friday, and went into town after lunch. We walked over to the Casino and visited the museum, then back into town to rest and have a margarita and chips at the Catalina Cantina overlooking the sidewalk. We followed that with a stop at the El Galleon patio for some more people watching and another drink. We went back to the boat for dinner.
|
The El Galleon advertises that it has Karioki every night and we stopped there after dinner to verify that it was on that night. We went from there to the Chi Chi Club for dancing. It was dead. No one was dancing, and the music was not my type. We had a drink, and I got up on the stage for a photo op. We went back to the El Galleon.
That turned out to be a blast! The Karioki started early. Everyone was friendly and having a good time, plus they all thought Scott was the best singer there. I agree.
The only downer was that the Galleon closes at ten thirty on a Friday in the winter just as everyone was really getting into it.
We took the shore boat back, and went to bed. the plan was to leave Avalon Saturday morning.
|
|
We were up at seven o’clock Saturday morning to have breakfast, and get the boat ready to leave.
We left the mooring at nine and went to the fuel dock to fill the tanks. We had burned about forty gallons of gas on the way over, which was ten gallons more than usual. Gas at the Avalon fuel dock was $3.33/gal.
We started our trip back to Long Beach in calm water, but about five miles out it got really rough, so we turned around and went back to Avalon. I told the Harbor Patrol that greeted us that we had been on mooring 101 and he told us to just go back to that one, and he assisted us by keeping our stern away from the boat to the east of us while we got hooked up again. There was no charge for the extra day.
We relaxed for a while enjoying the view, then went into town. We spent some time in the Marlin Club, and went to a few hotels to get some information about availability and prices. We went to the Vons and to a liquor store to stock up on the necessities of life; Gin, Beer, and ice, then back to the boat for dinner.
The El Galleon was dead when we went back after dinner. Scott was the only singer for the first half hour. It picked up a bit a little later, but the last call for drinks was ten o’clock again.
We wanted to leave for Long Beach early Sunday morning so we didn’t try any other place. We went back to the boat. We left the mooring about eight Sunday morning. The sea was calm and the sky clear all the way to the half way point, then we hit a fog bank. I hate fog!
Thanks to the GPS we had no problem finding our way to the outer harbor entrance, but we were both nervous wrecks. Scott navigated and I sounded the horn every ten seconds. I took the helm when we were inside the outer harbor. Visibility was about twenty feet. I wasn’t as good as Scott in maintaining our heading toward the inner harbor entrance, but I thought that if we collided with traffic that we couldn’t see on this last two miles, it should be my fault not his. We managed to find the Marina entrance and our gangway, and docked safely.
We had a few toasts to the queen and the angel that looks over us. We had lunch, then napped for a while.
We decided to go to the Observation Bar for Chris and Lisa, and got there in time for their last set. Lisa had a replacement that day because of a prior engagement. We left after the six o’clock horn, and went to the Reef for dinner. The Prime Rib was delicious as always.
|
Scott had packed most of his stuff before we went to the QM, so we had a little time left before he had to go home. He loaded his car, and drove us to Choices for the Karioki. He was able to sing his two songs, then we left. He dropped me off at the boat and went home. I stayed until Monday morning.
01/17/06 Diary
Scott had Monday for MLK day off and he was looking forward to three nights together, but I wasn’t able to get to the boat until Sunday because I was getting over a cold, plus my nephew from Wisconsin was visiting. Scott went to the Lodge Saturday night, then went to the boat.
One of the mufflers on the starboard engine was leaking, so I went to the Captains locker to get a new one Sunday morning. The only one they had was too big, so we decided to just relax for the rest of the weekend.
We went to the Observation Bar on the Queen Mary Sunday afternoon. We had fun dancing to Chris and Lisa, then went to the Reef for dinner.
Choices has Karioki on Sunday nights so we went there in time to get Scott signed up for a couple of songs. We didn’t stay too long because I was tired and also had too much to drink that day.
Monday morning was a late breakfast. We walked to the Marina Village in time to get a drink at Parker’s Lighthouse to salute the Queen at the three o’clock horn. We walked to Tequila Jacks for lunch, then went back to the boat for a nap, and to pack up for the trip home. I got home early for a change.

01/23/06 Diary
Harpurs Marine was suppose to have the right kind of muffler for the starboard engine, so I went there Friday morning to pick it up, then went to the boat to see if it fit. I looked real tight, but I decided to wait for Scott to help me before I tried to install it.
Scott arrived via the blue line about seven thirty Friday night, and I picked him up at the fifth street station. We did our grocery shopping and had dinner on the boat.
We got to Busters after nine thirty, but found a good table near the band. The flyer band was good, and we had a great time. Neither of our digital cameras work, so I have been using a disposable camera, but that wasn’t working that night either, so there are no pictures for that night.
Saturday morning, we tried to figure out how the new muffler could fit, but gave up and I called Harpurs for help. They are going to check it out this week.
We drove the boat and the leaky muffler to the waste pump out station anyway. It was either that or we would have to abandon the ship due to an over flowing holding tank.
We got cleaned up and dressed up after dinner and went to the Observation Bar Saturday Night. The L.A. Lyon band was playing, and they play some good dance music, so we had a good time.
I gave Scott the car keys after my second martini, and we went back to the boat. It was still early, so we watched some of the movie Titanic, then went to bed.
We didn’t get up until it was time for the Queens ten o’clock horn Sunday morning. We had a big brunch, then watched some more of Titanic. I don’t like the last part of the movie when the ship is sinking and people are dying.
We decided to go to the Blue Cafe Sunday afternoon for a change. The Mama’s Boys were playing inside instead of on the patio as in the past. We had a drink, and danced.
We left the Blue when we got hungry, and stopped at the grocery store to get something for dinner. I made some spaghetti.
We left early. Scott drove us to the Union Station where he left his car, and I drove home. I got home about nine O’clock.

01/30/06 Diary
This is going to be a short entry, because I wasn’t able to work on it for the past two weeks. My digital camera is still being repaired so I had to use a 28 shot disposable camera. The only way I can keep track of what I do is to look at the pictures, and I didn’t have any until last week.
Friday, January 27. We went to the Observation Bar to listen and dance to Jimmy and the Long Shots. Katt joined us at our table and then Jimmy came over during his break to talk to her.
Saturday, January 28. We went to the Sir Winstons Bar ro listen to Katt, then to the Observation Bar for Jimmy and the Long Shots. Had lots of fun dancing, etc.
Sunday, January 29. Katt came to the boat to relax, then we went to Bubba Gumps for dinner. Scott had to leave for home, but I stayed to go to Choices for Karioki with Katt. She had to go to her appartment to change, and I was going to meet her at Choices. She called me before I left the boat to tell me that Shed had quit doing the Kariaoki there, and she would meet me across the street at Clancys.
Clancy’s has a Comic night on Sunday. I haven’t been to Clancy’s for a few years, because I do not feel comfortable there. It is a nice enough place but many of the men there are a bit over endowed with testoserone, and homo and trans phobic.
The comics were pretty good, and I wasn’t bothered by anyone so it was OK. I didn’t want to brink any alcohol though. Katt was having a ball with the guys, and she sang. I was concerned about her driving though, and offered to take her home. She declined and I went back to the boat.
I called her the next morning to confirm that she got home safely, and she had. I went home that afternoon
|
|
|
|
I didn’t get down to the boat until Saturday the 4th. James King was doing his Elvis at the Observation Bar, and we went there after a stop at Sir Winstons for Katt.
We had a good time and James was singing great.
|
|
Sunday morning, we preped the boat for Mondays trip to the boat yard. I needed to have it hauled out for bottom paint and some repares.
We went to the Observation Bar Sunday afternoon to listen to Chris and Lisa, but the Supper Bowl was on, and they had to quit after one set, so everyone could watch the game on the big TV in the Observation bar.
We stayed until the game was over, then went back to the boat for dinner, and Scott went home.
I drove the boat to the Colonial Yacht ancorage for the Haul out Monday morning. It took me an hour and a half to get there the long way arround because the Railroad bridge blocks the canal on the short cut. I waited until they pulled the boat and I could inspect the hull. I was concerned about the starboard trim tab. I gave the yard my list of things to do and took a taxi back to Shoreline Marina to get my car and drive home.
They were supposed to finish the job Tuesday, but when I drove down there, they showed me some damage to the trim tab that would need a new hinge, so I went home and went back down Wednesday afternoon. They got the boat back in the water about one thirty and I drove it back to the marina.
02/16/06 Diary
I got to the boat Friday afternoon, and spent some time getting it cleaned up from the time spent in the boat yard and the trip back to the Marina. Scott drove down as soon as he got off work. We had dinner on the boat and went to the Queen Mary to see Katt at Sir Winstons, and James King in the Observation Bar.
We stayed at the Sir Winston’s Bar until Katt finished, then we went to the Observation Bar. It was crowded, but we found a table on the lower level.
The large wedding party that was at Sir Winstons, were now in the OB. They had a dozen heart shaped balloons that floated to the ceiling when they left. Katt took them with her when she left to catch her bus.
Scott and I left soon after Katt did and the bus was still waiting when we got to the entrance. The driver took us to our car in the parking lot, and we went back to the boat with one of the Balloons.
|
|
Michelle, and Allan were going to join us at the Sir Winston’s Bar on Saturday night. Scott and I wanted to be there early so we decided to have dinner at the Promenade Cafe on the Queen Mary. We had a good Prime Rib, but didn’t get to Sir Winston’s until almost nine o’clock. Alan, and a Friend, and Michelle were waiting for us. There was only another couple in the bar listening to Katt sing, but she was great at always.
We all went down stairs to the Observation Bar. Alan, and Katt wanted to go to Clancy’s. Scott and I wanted to stay at the Queen for a while but said that we might join them at Clancy’s later.
When we left neither of us were in any condition to go somewhere else to drink, so we went back to the boat. We crashed.
Sunday morning was laid back. Michelle called to say that she would be going to the Queen that afternoon, and we met her there. Chris and Lisa were playing and we had a good time. The pictures we took that afternoon didn’t come out because of too much back lighting.
Scott went home after dinner, and I stayed until Monday to clean up the boat for a visit by my sister later in the week. I went home Monday afternoon.

02/22/06 Diary
I had visiting relatives Friday and Saturday so I didn’t get to the boat until Sunday afternoon. Scott arrived before I did Sunday.
We went to the Observation Bar Sunday afternoon for Chris and Lisa, but Lisa’s alternate was performing with Chris. She is a good singer and we enjoyed the afternoon.
The Observation Bar was crowded because there was a Scottish festival going on. Lots of men in skirts.
We left when the music stopped and went to the Reef for dinner. We had our usual Prime Rib.
Scott had bought a DVD of the Movie Airforce One, and we watched that on the boat Sunday night.
|
|
|
we installed a new Radio/CD player Monday morning, then took the boat out to pump out the holding tanks, and run the engines at speed for a while to blow out the carbon.
We watched Starwars I Monday afternoon, had dinner on the boat then went home.
03/02/06 Diary
I got to the boat Friday afternoon, and Scott arrived later that night. I made some spaghetti for dinner, then we went to the Queen Mary about nine o'clock.
We were going to meet Michelle in the Observation Bar, so I went there to see if she had arrived, and Scott went to the Sir Winstons Bar to see if she was there, and to tell Katt that we would be in the OB.
Michelle wasn't in the OB, so I asked the waitress Claire to tell Michelle that we would be in Sir Winstons, and I started to walk up there. I met Scott on his way down to the OB, and we walked up to Sir Winstons.
We had a drink in Sir Winstons, and listened to Katt. Michelle joined us there and we stayed until Katt was done, then went down to the Observation Bar.
The LA Lion group was performing there. They are OK, but don't play enough of the type of music that we like. We had a good time though, and stayed until late.

The Queen Mary 2 was in port Saturday, and we took the boat over to San Pedro to see it. It is currently the largest passenger ship in the world.
It is a large ship, but, in my opinion it does not present the class that the original Queen Mary does. From the outside QM2 looks like a large condominium complex.
|
Valerie and Renee came for a visit after lunch. Lena came by a little later so we had a little party on board.
There was a Brazilian Festival on the Queen Mary Saturday night, so that was going to be a mess parking and crowds. Our plan for Saturday night was to meet Michelle for dinner on the Redondo Beach Pier, then go to the Run Away Bay in Torrance for dancing.
We met Michelle at the New Tony’s Restaurant. It took us a while to get a table by a window overlooking the water. I ordered the cat fish, and was disappointed to see that it was breaded and deep fried. That is NOT on my diet. I managed to scrape out some fish meat, but it wasn’t much. Scott gave me some of his grilled salmon so I had enough to eat.
It was a short drive from the Pier to the Run Away Bay. Chris who performs at the Observation Bar on Sundays also plays on the band at Run Away, and the leader of the band fills in for Lisa at the OB at times, so they greeted us when we walked in. We found a booth and ordered drinks.
There was a Marti Gras Party going on, and a lot of the crowd were in costume. Scott was selected to be one of the judges for the costume contest later.
The dance floor was packed, but we had a ball dancing and watching the crowd. Everyone that were in costume paraded around the floor and were judged at the end of the evening. The top three received a cash prize. The winner was a guy made up as Elton John, and my favorite, a woman in a Butterfly outfit came in second.
We left about 12:30, and went home to the boat.

Lena woke us up Sunday morning to remind us that the Hockey game between Sweden and Finland for the Olympic Gold Medal was starting, Lena was born in Finland and my mother is Finn, so I wanted to watch the game. Unfortunately, Sweden won the gold, but the Finish team played a good game and got the silver medal.
We watched the DVD Movie Normal after lunch. Normal is a HBO movie about a middle aged man’s transition to a woman in a conservative Ohio farming community. It was very moving and touched on some of my trials being a Transsexual. I cried a bit.
We had a steak dinner and then packed and went home.
03/03/06 Diary
Jennifer’s Trio was playing at Charlie O’s Tuesday night, and Scott, Naomi and I went there to hear her.
Jennifer was nursing a cold but she was a real trouper and did her three sets. We stayed for the start of the third set. There was a good crowd there, but Jennifer said that it wasn’t up to here expectations. It probably was due to that night being Marti Gras, and some regulars were at Parties.
I am constantly surprised when we get the bill at the end of the night in Charlie O’s. A small gin martini as well as a beer is $8, and when tax and tip is added the cost per drink is over $10 each. I guess it’s worth it if a good poertion of that goes to the performers though.

03/07/06 Diary
Not much to report this week. I wasn’t able to go to the boat Friday, and neither could Scott, because his father was in the hospital again.
I went down Saturday morning and Scott came later that afternoon.
I made some Goulash for dinner, then we went to Busters.
We got to busters about nine o’clock and the place was packed more than usual, but we found a table right in front of the stage. The Flyer Band did all our favorites, and we got to dance a few. We left after the second set.
We got a very late start Sunday morning. I needed to do some shopping, so we went to the Mall as soon as we could. I bought some panty hose and a couple of black long sleeve sweaters, and Scott bought a new dress shirt.
We went to the Observation Bar after a late lunch. Chris and Lisa were on a break when we arrived about four o’clock. There was hardly anyone there. We danced a little, and there was a couple of girls there that danced with me to “Smooth”.
We left before six, and got back to the boat in time for the six o’clock Queen Mary salute. We were both tired so we took a little nap, then I cooked some steaks for dinner.
|
|
We watched some of the Oscars then left and went home.
03/14/06 Diary
It hasn’t been a good week: Rain, rain and cold, and more rain.
I have been having some problems with my eyes lately, so I went to have them checked out. They are worse than I thought. The cataracts are worse but the main problem is a clouding of my left eye in addition to the cataracts. My Ophthalmologist sent me to another Ophthalmologist that specializes in diseases and Surgery of the Retina, and he thinks I will need surgery soon. I go back to him tomorrow for a more intensive evaluation. The end result of all of this is that I need to restrict my night driving, especially night freeway driving until I have these problems taken care of.
I finally got down to the boat Sunday afternoon, and cleaned it up a bit.
I had wanted to do some shopping Sunday afternoon, but it was four o’clock by the time I got everything organized, so I went to the Observation Bar for an attitude adjustment.
There was a special event going on in the Queen Mary event park so they were collecting for parking at the gate, but I explained that I was going to the Observation Bar , not the Circus, so I got in free.
The Observation Bar tables were full, so I sat at the bar and talked to Evon. I didn’t dance to Chris and Lisa because I didn’t have a partner, and no pictures for the same reason. I had my usual two martinis, and saluted the Queen when she blew her six o’ clock horn, then went back to the boat.
I made myself a steak and baked potato for dinner, then watched some TV.
I got bored so I went up to Choices to see what was going on since Shed quit doing the Karioke there. The answer was nothing was going on. There was a few people at the bar, and a Video of some gay guys dancing to a 4/4 beat. I left and went back to the boat to watch some more TV, then to bed.
I did some external boat clean up, but decided that I didn’t want to get into any major work in the bilge.
Robin said she was coming over Sunday morning, and she called me to say she was on her way about ten O’clock. She arrived as I was just finishing swabbing the bridge deck.
We had a really nice visit. Robin is looking great! She is working with a trainer to lose in the right places to get a more girlie figure. That is something I need to do as well.
We had a light lunch. Robin left about two o’clock, and I cleaned up to go home as well. I left for home about three o’clock in time to run into the start of traffic. I got to La Canada at four o’clock with enough time to stop for a couple of gins before going home.
03/20/06 Diary
It is still raining off and on. It is hard to plan anything in advance. I just go with the flow, and get out of the house when I can..
I went to the Ophthalmologist that specializes in diseases and Surgery of the Retina last Wednesday. The membrane covering the retina of my left eye is screwed up, and I need an operation to fix it. The operation will be done in about six weeks. I will be out of action for about two weeks after the surgery. In the meanwhile I need to limit my night driving.
I did manage to get to the boat Saturday afternoon. It was still raining when I left the house, but the satellite pictures showed that the beach was clear. It was cold and windy but the sky was clear.
My project for the weekend was to install a new VHF Radio antenna, and I went to the Marine store Saturday afternoon to buy one, but the store I usual go to didn't have what I wanted in stock, so I ended up going to two other stores before finding one. By the time I got back to the boat it was time for dinner and to get ready to go out.
I got to the Queen Mary about nine o'clock. The Circus was still going on, and the parking lot was full. I finally found a spot and got to the Sir Winstons Bar in time to catch Katt's last few numbers.
I went to the Observation Bar when Katt finished. Jimmy Raschel and the Long Shots were playing. The room was pretty full, but I got a seat at the bar. Katt joined me for a drink, but had to leave to go to a birthday party on the other side of town. She asked me to go with her, but I shouldn't drive that much, so I declined. A friend of Katt that has a store in town joined me at the bar, so I had some company.
The Bar became packed when the circus let out. I danced a little, had my usual two Martinis and a couple of cups of coffee, the left about midnight.

|
I started working on the Antenna Sunday morning. It was a very frustrating job, because the old antenna had been installed before the side panels on the bridge were installed during manufacture, so I couldn't get at the bolts on the old mounting. It took me all morning to get the old one off and the new one mounted. I still haven't completed the installation.
My friend Leena stopped by for a little visit, and I brought her up to date one what was happening in my life.
I needed to get home while the sun was up Sunday, so left for home about three o'clock.
03/27/06 Diary
Raining again in So-Cal, but there's a chance that next weekend may be clear enough to get out of town. I want to go to San Diego for Girls Night Out (GNO) at the SRO Saturday night. The Long Beach Grand Prix race bull shit starts this weekend with some kind of exposition that closes some of the Marina access roads. The Race craziness will be the weekend of April 7 to 9, so I will want to be far away from Long Beach then too. I may take the boat to Avalon if I can find someone to go with me.
Last weekend was a short Saturday/Sunday affair. I got to the boat about noon Saturday and went home Sunday afternoon.
Saturday night was fun. I got to Sir Winston's Bar before nine o'clock. That was enough time for a Martini by Alan, and a full set of Jazz by Katt. I was wearing my long reddish wig for a change, and Katt didn't recognize me until she came up to the bar, and I spoke to her.
I went down to the Observation Bar when Katt quit. James King as Elvis was performing and his loyal followers had the room pretty full. I took a seat at the bar and saved a seat for Katt. She joined me shortly.
The bar livened up as soon as Katt sat down. We were suddenly surrounded by guys. Some were old friends and others were new. I was wearing my tits (i.e.: a low cut top), and Katt can't hide hers, so we tried to get a good picture of us showing off our tits, but mine just do not show like hers does. I need to try a little more dark makeup in the cleavage next time.
We stayed until midnight, then I drove Katt to her apartment and went back to the boat.
|
|
My project for Sunday was to finish installing the new VHF Antenna. All I needed to do was to plug the holes that I had drilled for the mounting and the antenna lead, then assemble and solder the radio connector assembly to the lead. My soldering iron was not up to the task because it couldn't get the fitting hot enough. I finally got the center conductor soldered to the fitting but could not solder the shield the way it is suppose to be. I noticed that the old fitting didn't have the shield soldered good either so I just screwed it into the radio and tested it. The radio check was successful so I quit.
I left for home about four o'clock. That was just right for hitting the Sunday evening jam on the Golden State Fwy. The next time I can't get on the road by two o'clock I am going to wait until Monday morning to go home
