Diary for Third Quarter 2006

07/06/06 Diary

It was a busy and wild week.

I had a Birthday on Wednesday. I bought myself a bike to get some exercise when I am in Long Beach. The old bike that I kept on the boat got too rusty to use. I took the new one with me when I drove to the boat Sunday for the Fourth of July.

Chris and Lisa were playing at the Observation Bar Sunday afternoon, so I went there after swabbing the decks. I miss my deck hand.

The OB was about half full with tourists. I had a good time; danced a little, talked to some people at the bar, and ended up going to the forward deck at six o'clock to salute the queen when she blew her horn. It's always fun watching the people out there smoking when the horn goes off right above them.

I assembled my new bike Monday morning and took it to Belmont Shore and back. I was pretty beat by the time I got back to the boat. I am out of shape because I haven't been going to the Gym lately because of my sore knee.

Chris, Lisa. Chris' drummer from his old Band, and Lisa's keyboards from her group was going to play at the Queen Mary Monday afternoon, so I went over there after lunch.

I thought they were going to be in the Observation Bar, but was told by Jun when I got there that they were somewhere on the property but wasn't sure exactly where.

I went down to the ship entrance and asked the security guy there if he knew where the group was. He said he thought there was a band in the Carnival area by the Cruise Line building, so I walked over there. As I was walking I could hear Lisa singing, but then found out that they were on the top deck stern of the ship on a new platform . I finally found them.

There was only a few people there, so I was glad that I had persevered to support them.

There was a temporary bar set up nearby, and I was able to get a martini finally. I stayed for a set, but it was too hot out in the sun to stay.

Katt rode her bike down to the Marina Monday evening. I made us a steak dinner. We talked for a while then I made her a bunk in the Salon, and I retired to my bed room.

Katt rode her bike home to her apartment in Belmont Shore after breakfast.

There was going to be a Forth of July dock Party Tuesday at six o'clock, and I was suppose to bring "My World Famous" Chili to the pot luck so I cooked that after lunch. I was also suppose to bring ice to the party, and I planned to go to the store to buy that after I finished the Chili, but when I went to get my car I saw that the parking lot was full and the police had closed the lot to everyone including boat owners with parking passes.

I called Katt to tell her that Tim and her would not be able to park by the boat. They said that they would try it anyway. I asked her to pick up some ice and some Gin for me.

They managed to get into the lot and find a place to park, so I had my ice and Gin for the party.

The dock party was a success, and lasted until the Fireworks display off the stern of the Queen Mary.

We went back to the boat and watched a movie, then Tim and Katt went home to Katts Apartment. I crashed.

Wednesday, I ran the engines for a while, had a late breakfast, then went home.

07/12/06 Diary

I had another close encounter of the disturbing kind at the Observation Bar Saturday night.

I got a late start leaving home Saturday, and just made to the boat for the QM’s noon horn. I did a little cleaning and some grocery shopping.

Naomi’s third Girl Talk Club at The Port was that night, and I thought I should go there, but I hated the idea of driving all the way to Studio City and back at night. I can’t enjoy myself while I am there because I don’t want to drink and drive.

I haven’t been to Busters in quite a while and considered going there, but that is a bit of a drive also, and there are often sobriety check points set up on the streets between Busters and the boat, so I decided that I would play it safe and go to the Observation Bar again.

I called the Bar to find out who was playing, and was told that they played “top Forties”, but didn’t know the name of the band. I decided to go anyway.

My skin is bruising worse than ever lately, so both my forearms looked terrible, even with Ben Nye’s theatrical makeup on them, and it was too warm to wear a dress with long sleeves. I finally picked a dress with no sleeves, and my white jacket to wear until I get there.

I got to the Bar about ten o’clock and the band was on break. I took a seat at the bar. Evon told me that the band was a new one, but the Keyboard was the guy that used to play for Jimmy Rashal and the Long Shots.

The room was filled with people that were in town for the power boat races on Saturday and Sunday. Some were race drivers and others were race fans.

I recognized some of the members of the new band. The lead guitar and singer have been there before as well and the keyboard. They were good, and played some of my favorite dance tunes. The dance floor was filled, and I danced.

I was dancing to “Brick House” when a guy comes up to the stage and starts dancing with me. He was making some good moves and I was having fun, when he suddenly stopped, looked at my hands and arms, and ran off the dance floor back to his table with his girlfriend and another couple. I went back to my seat at the bar when the dance ended. The guy and his friends were really checking me out and discussing me, I just smiled at them.

A little later, the guy and his girlfriend danced. The girlfriend came off the dance floor after the dance and came to me shaking her finger, and said “we know you aren’t a woman and you will go to hell”. I smiled at her, turned around and ignored her. They left shortly after that.

An Observation Bar regular called “Big John” came in later and sat with me at the bar. Big John is quite a bit over weight, but a nice guy. We danced for a while. I left when the band took their midnight break.

At the Obs Bar Saturday night

I got out of bed early Sunday, because I needed to go to the pump out dock before the winds started. There was a little breeze when I cast off about nine o’clock, but it was favorable to push me into the dock rather than away. I had no problem hooking up and pumping the holding tanks.

I decided to take the boat out for a little spin to check it out . I got it up to cruising speed when a harbor patrol came up to me and motioned me to head east. It took me a minute to realize that there was a personal watercraft race going on by the Queen Mary to the west. I guess they didn’t want my wake disturbing them, I headed back to the Marina, and went to the fuel dock for some gas. The gas was $3.99/Gallon.

I watched some golf after lunch, until they cut it off for the Soccer. I called Katt to see what she was doing, and sugested that we go to the Blue Cafe for a while. She had an appointment for a movie shoot until six, so I told her to call me when she finishes, and went back to the soccer until the end of the game.

Katt called me about six, and I went to pick her up. We had a steak dinner, and a nice conversation. I took her home about ten o’clock and quit for the night.

I went home Monday morning

07/17/06 Diary

it was a fun weekend; Busters Saturday, bike ride Sunday to a beach for swimming.

I visited my friends and neighbors, Leena and Rich Saturday afternoon. They have a fairly large plastic pool set up on the stern of their house boat. It holds 180 Gallons of water which lowers the stern and raises the bow by about three feet. I think it is funny, but I wish I had room for a pool on my boat in this heat.

Leena in her pool

Katt rode her bike down to the Marina Saturday afternoon. It was very hot and humid and she wasn’t feeling very good when she got there. She rested and felt better after a while.

She brought some chicken breasts, and we had that and some red beans and rice for dinner.

We went to Busters Saturday night. The place was jammed, but we found two seats at the bar, We danced for a while, and talked to friendly guy. Actually he talked mostly to Katt.

We stayed until the band quit. Katt stayed on the boat that night.

Dancing to YMCA at Busters

Sunday, Katt road her bike back to her apartment. I put my swim suit on, and I followed after about an hour in my car with my bike in the trunk.

We rode our bikes to a beach on Alamitos Bay. The water was clear, and clean, and we swam a few times. We left the beach after about two hours, and rode our bikes up to the end of the peninsula, then back to Katt’s place. I was real tired and fell on her driveway when I stopped. I can’t seem to get by for a week without some kind of wound.

We drove back to the boat, and had dinner. We watched a movie, and I took Katt home.

I went home Monday morning.

07/25/06 Diary

A pleasant, interesting weekend.

It was hot in the valley, so I got out of town as soon as I could. It wasn’t much better in Long Beach on Saturday, but at least I was where I wanted top be. I wanted to go to the Observation Bar that night.

I decided that one of the reasons I had some problems with passing the last two times I was at the OB was my beat up bare arms and no cleavage, so I wore one of my old standby tops with 3/4 sleeves and cleavage. A black skirt., red pumps and my wonder bra completed the outfit.

I got to the bar about ten o’clock. The band was the L.A. Lion. I took a seat at the bar, and started dancing as soon as I sipped some of my martini.

There was two couples seated at one of the tables behind me, and one of the wives wanted to dance, but her husband didn’t, so I invited her to dance with me. She was slightly drunk. She kept telling me how beautiful I looked, and I figured she had me made as either an old lady, or an old transsexual. It’s amazing how showing some tits can make the difference, We danced for a couple of songs, and I had to rest.

I wanted to leave after my second martini during the bands midnight break. My new friend and her husband came to the bar as I was preparing to leave, and said her husband wanted to know how old I was, I said only that I was pretty old. The husband asked if I was about fifty five, and I said thank you, but lots older.

I went home to the boat.

At the OB Saturday night

I wanted to take the boat out Sunday to give it some exercise, so I called Katt to see if she wanted to take a ride. She did so I picked her up at her apartment and we took the “MY WORLD” out for a spin. Everything worked fine.

We went to the Blue Cafe for the Moma’s Boys later that afternoon and had a good time dancing and listening to the music. I love it the way the Band, their regular fans, and the Blues Cafe Staff still remember me after such a long absence. I bought some tickets for the Blues Cruise next Friday. That should be a blast!

Katt had brought a full rack of Baby Back ribs that we had for dinner Sunday night. They were delicious! I took her home after dinner.

BTW; the San Diego Pride festival is next weekend. I am going to try to make it. The SRO Girls Night out will be that Saturday too!

Fun at the Blue Cafe
With my friend Katt

I went home as usual Monday.

08/01/06 Diary

Busy, Busy, Busy fun weekend! Blues Cruise, San Diego, and the Sunday Observation Bar.

I got a late start leaving home Friday morning, so I missed the Queen’s noon horn. Sorry your Majesty.

I really need some more summer clothes, and wanted to go to the Lakewood Mall Friday afternoon before I got ready to go to Katt’s for dinner at six o’clock. I didn’t get moving until after three, so it was going to have to be a quick trip.

My first stop was going to be Robinson-May, but there is no more Robby May in the Lakewood Mall. It is now Macy’s! I do not like Macy’s; the prices are too high and they do not stock many sizes over 14. The only white skirt they had was too heavy for summer and the price was $99. I made a quick tour of the place and found nothing else that I wanted.

I was running out of time, so I went to Penny’s at the south end of the Mall. I found the white cotton skirt at $40 that I was looking for, but nothing over size 14, which was a bit too tight.

Katt and I had tickets for the Blues Cruise with the Mama’s Boys Friday night. The boat leaves Alamitos Bay at eight, so I needed to change into my cruising/dancing clothes and get to Katt’s for dinner so we could leave her place by seven thirty.

I was late, but Katt had our dinner ready when I arrived. Everything she makes is delicious, and the salads she had prepared were just right.

We got to the boat with a little time to spare. They didn’t leave the dock until a quarter after anyway.

We danced and had some drinks, and had a ball. I showed some of the girls how to do a pole dance. You have to caress the pole, like you were stroking a guy! ;-)

I only had a couple of gins because I was driving home that night, but Katt really cut loose, and had a ball. I took her home and went home to the boat without incidence.

It was a nice night, so I made myself a tall one and sat out on the aft deck..

There was a South Sea Moura party on the Marina park by the boat that was just finishing when I got there. While I was sitting aft, I saw a group of about six people who had too much to drink trying to get onto the next dock in back of me. The gates are pretty secure, and they were too drunk to climb over the gate or up the sides of the gangway. They gave up, when I shouted at them that I could call for some help from the Harbor Patrol to let them in if they needed to get to their boat or visit a friend.

Dancing on the Blues Cruise

I didn’t try to get a room reservation in San Diego until Friday because my mother who is in a nursing home in Wisconsin was not doing too well, and I was afraid that I might have to go there if she got worse, but my sister called me Thursday to tell me that she suddenly got much better and was out of danger, so I decided that I could go to San Diego.

I got on the road about ten o’clock Saturday morning figuring on a two hour trip, but it turned into a three hour trip. Just too many cars going south. Lots of midwest license plates. I didn’t feel like going to the Pride Festival after that drive and I was hungry, so I went to Little Italy for a pizza.

I checked into the Old Town Inn after lunch. It was the only room I could find at a reasonable price. It was even cheaper than my old standby, the E-Z 8 Motel which is also near Old Town, but it was going to be two Queen Size Beds and no refrigerator. I lucked out though, there was something broken in the room when I checked in so they gave me an upgrade at the same price. There was not only a fridge, but a full kitchen with microwave and stove. This was good news, because I had a half pizza left over, and a bunch of booze to keep cold in case I ended up having a party that night.

I watched some golf, had a couple drinks, then I took a nap. I had my leftover Pizza for dinner then got ready to go to the SRO.

I had brought my favorite Fuck Me dress, but it was too hot and humid, I was sweating much with it on, so I went to my backup outfit; a light skirt and white cotton top with cleavage.

I was ready by nine o’clock and called for a cab. Then I waited, and waited. I called the yellow cab again after forty five minutes, and they said they would dispatch again. The cab finally showed up after another fifteen minute wait. It was after ten by the time I got to the SRO, and I figured it would be really “Standing Room Only”.

I was amazed that there was actually a seat at the bar on my favorite end, and there weren’t many girls there. One of the girls I know told me that the Pride Festival wasn’t over until Ten, and there was a jam getting out of the Park, so they would be coming in any time now. She was right and the place was packed by midnight.

I met two new friends sitting on either side of me. One was a EE, and the other is a cute young girl just starting to get out en fem. I gave her my card and invited her to come down to Long Beach sometime. The EE was a SRO regular and had some boy friends hanging around, the cute one attracted several guys. The nice thing about the SRO is that everyone is so close together that you have to talk to each other. The only problem is that some of the guys take advantage and end up between your legs. There was a strange scary guy that got cutey so spooked that she bailed out. He hit on me then. I said no thanks.

I called the yellow cab when last call for drinks was announced, had another short one, then went outside to wait for the cab when the bar was closed. Scary guy wanted to drove me to my motel, and I turned him down again. There was just me and a couple who had also called for a yellow cab left on the sidewalk when the SRO closed the gate and shut off the lights. The couple were going to a motel that was also close to Old Town, so we agreed to share a cab.

A drunken Hispanic who had been hitting on the lady of the couple in the SRO drove up in a beat up old car and offered to take us to our motels. I told him that I was taking a cab because I didn’t want to drink and drive, so I certainly did not want to ride with someone in that condition. The couple agreed that we should stick together, so we kept waiting for long time. The drunk stayed with us trying to get the couple to take him to their room.

We finally gave up after waiting for that stupid yellow cab until we were the only people outside and it was almost three o’clock. We decided that it would be safer to go with the drunk than staying there at that hour. So we agreed to let him drive us.

It was a scary drive, but we got to my motel about three o’clock, and I was the first out. I would have asked the couple to stay with me rather than let them continue on with the drunk, but the room only had a single double bed.

At the SRO in San Diego

I didn’t wake up until after nine Sunday morning. The Old Town Inn has a free extended Continental Breakfast from six to ten every morning, and I was hungry, so I quickly got dressed and went to the room where it was being served. It was a good breakfast with fruit, pastries, waffles, cereal and eggs.

By the time I had breakfast and got back to my room, I just had enough time to shower, get dressed and pack for the eleven o’clock checkout. I decided to head for Long Beach as soon as I checked out. I didn’t want a repeat of that rush hour trip I had coming south, and I wasn’t feeling up to an afternoon trudging around the Pride Festival.

The ride to Long Beach was smooth and quick. I took a long nap, then got up in time for the three o’clock salute, and a lunch.

The weather was cool and breezy, so I wore slacks and a long sleeved top to go to the Observation Bar for Chris and Lisa. All the tables near the stage were taken so I sat at the bar. Mary invited me to join her, but she talks too much and I would have to sit with my back to the stage. Besides, Evon takes good care of me at the bar, and serves me top shelf gin.

I started dancing after my first martini. There were a group of girls that are Sunday regulars that are fun to dance with. I switched to diet coke after my second martini, because I wanted to drive home that night. I toasted the Queen on the fore deck at six o’clock with my coke and left for the boat.

Dancing at the Observation Bar Sunday

I was making myself some dinner on the boat when Leena came by to see me. I poured her a glass of wine, and a beer for me, and we had a nice talk. I finished my dinner after she left, and drove home

08/08/06 Diary

Nothing much to report on this week.

I went to the Observation Bar Saturday night.

I am finding it hard to find something appropriate to wear out of my closet. The weather starts very hot, but then we get cool ocean breezes at night. I cobbled together an outfit with a light mid calf dress, and a black jacket to wear to and from the ship. It worked OK.

When I arrived at the Observation Bar I was surprised to see James king performing. The last I had heard he was stuck in Lebanon visiting his family, and couldn’t get transportation out. He had just arrived back in the states a few days earlier. There were a number of his fans there, so someone got the word out.

The room was full, but old Mary had her usual table on the dance floor, and I took a seat with her.

I had a lot of fun dancing to some of my favorites; Mustang Sally, She’s A Lady, Brick House, Etc.

I stayed until the music stopped, so I got back to the boat after one o’clock.

Dancing to Elvis
Evon Tending to the Observation Bar

I was planning on going to the Blue Cafe Sunday afternoon, but I got a late start on the day, so I just did a few things around the boat, and took it easy.

I drove over to Katt’s about six o’clock to pick her up for dinner on the boat. We had a few drinks and I broiled some pork chops, and made mash potatoes, and beans. we spent the next few hours talking and supporting each other about our screwed up lives.

Mine is stuck in a no win sexual situation, and she needs a new job.

I took her home about ten o’clock, then went back to the boat and finished of my bottle of Gin while watching a movie.

I came home Sunday

08/18/06 Diary

I finally met Scott's Girlfriend Saturday night. She is very nice, and Scott is very lucky. I haven't been to one of Naomi's Girl Talk parties at The Port since the first one, because of the long round trip drive, but I really wanted to meet Leslie. I found a cheap Motel in Studio City, so I didn't have to worry about drinking and driving a long way home.

Robin came to the boat for a visit Saturday afternoon. She has been working as a Tour Guide lately and that has kept her very busy. She just returned from a trip to Carmel to take some tourists to Pebble Beach. She is very popular with the Clients she works with, and I can understand that considering her sense of humor, confidence, and intelligence. We had a good time bringing each other up to date on out lives.

Robin Saturday

I was behind schedule getting ready to go to The Port. I needed to leave by seven o'clock to go to the motel to check in, then get to The Port by eight, but I didn't start getting ready until six thirty. I skipped dinner and arrived at The Port after nine.

There wasn't many cars in the Parking lot. Naomi was out side and escorted me into the building to where Scott and Leslie were sitting. I joined them and Leslie and I had a good time getting acquainted.

Scott brought me up to date on how his Mother was doing since his father died. Scott has quit his job as a School Bus Driver and moved in with Leslie. They plan to get married. Scott needs a full time relationship, and that certainly will be full time. That is something that I could never give him. I congratulated both of them.

Leslie is an Engineer for Television and Movie Companies, and has a ranch in the dessert near Hesperia. That's a eighty five commute to work each way! I like her and admire what she has accomplished. I think we will be good friends

They had to leave early because of their long drive home.

I didn't know that the Lodge was still open until I was told that night. I decided to go check it out to see if there was anyone that I knew still going there. There were a couple of girls I knew, but most were strangers.

I was starving, so I asked Roxy if there was an all night restaurant near by, and she directed me to a Taco Place. I went there, ordered some Burritos, and went to my room to eat. My room at the Park Motel was a real dump, but what do you expect for $65. I got to bed about Three o'clock

I checked out, had Breakfast, and got back to Long Beach about eleven.

There was a Jazz Festival going on near the Marina, so parking was all screwed up. I had invited Katt to join me Sunday afternoon, so I stopped before going to the boat and called her to see if I could pick her up early. She said I could, so I drove to her place to pick her up and we got to the boat as the Jazz Festival parking traffic was starting to get heavy.

We decided not to go to the Jazz Festival. We could hear it from the boat, and Katt said that it was soft jazz, and she wasn't that interested in sitting out in the sun at near the stage.

We had some drinks, and snacks, and talked. Katt's singing career isn't doing too good lately. She doesn't have any regular gigs left. She has applied for some non-singing jobs, and is auditioning for some singing/acting roles.

We had dinner on the boat, and relaxed. I drove her home before the Jazz Festival was over.

I did some boat work Monday morning.

I offered to give Katt a ride to her job interview in LA on my way home Monday afternoon. I picked her up, and checked the AAA map for a route to the interview site on Wilshire. I dropped her off and went home.

08/22/06 Diary

I am going to try somthing new with the pictures. The pictures here are full size instead of having a small preview picture that you need to click on to get the full size pticture. Let me know if you like this better.

I can not hold my alcohol recently. I stopped drinking during the week a couple of weeks ago, and only drink on the weekends, but all it takes then is a couple of gins and I feel drunk. That’s what happened to me Saturday night.

I did some grocery shopping on my way to the boat, had some lunch and spent the afternoon watching golf. I had a gin to salute the Queen at six, then had dinner and got ready to go to the Observation Bar.

I got to the OB about ten o’clock and it was jammed. There was a singles club meeting so there were a lot of young boys and girls. I managed to get a seat at the Bar and had a gin that I nursed for an hour. I talked to the other girls at the Bar, and danced a little. The Dance floor was so full that you couldn’t really dance. The LA Lion Band was playing.

That gin really got to me, but I asked Evon for another one. He set I down in front of me, and I promptly knocked it over while talking with my hands. Evon cleaned up the mess then ignored me, so I couldn’t even get a diet coke. I gave up after about a half hour and went home to the boat.

At the Observation Bar

Sunday was my friend Rich’s Birthday dock Party. Katt was going to spend the day with me, so I drove to her place to pick her up, and got the ice for the party.

I made a pot of Chili, and took it and the ice up to Rich and Leena’s boat where the dock party was set up. I just took a bottle of wine for me to drink, but I also took a glass of gin.

There were about a dozen people at the party, and we had a good time singing to the three Guitar players strumming away. Katt tried to get the guitarists to jam so she could sing, but they didn’t know how to do free style Jamming.

The party wound down at dark, and we went back to my boat. I took Katt home.

At the Birthday Party
The Birthday Boy

I spent Monday morning finally doing some teak sanding. I desperately need to get the boat ready for a party that I will be having in a few weeks. I got home Monday afternoon.

08/30/06 Diary

Last weekend was mostly boat work to sand and varnish the wood. I got most of it done. I will do the teak around the Starboard windows, and put another coat on the rest next weekend.

I went to the Observation Bar (where else) Saturday night. James King was doing his Elvis stuff, and some of his regular followers were there. The room wasn’t as crowded as usual and there were plenty of empty tables. I sat at the bar anyway. I meet more people that way.

I think the #2 Bartender Jun, is sabotaging my efforts to meet new men though. A new guy came in soon after I sat down and asked if the chair next to me was available, and I said yes. He sat down, then Jun came over and motioned for him to come to the other end of the bar so he could talk to him. He did, Jun told him something, and the guy looked at me, then sat down a couple of chairs farther away from me. Does Jun not like me, or am I paranoid?

I had a good time dancing to James singing, and stayed until midnight.

At the Observation Bar with Mary

I noticed that my refrigerator wasn’t working Sunday morning, so I monkeyed with it until I got it started again. It may be the thermostat. I do not want that to quit on me now, just before I have my party with about fourteen guests. I also noticed that the compressor was very hot, but that may be normal. The refrigerator is original equipment which makes it about 28 years old.

I went to see Chris and Lisa Sunday afternoon after watching Tiger Woods win the World Championship. I stayed until the six o’clock horn. Hardly anyone one was dancing. I danced with a cute little girl while her parents were dancing.

Showing the kid how to dance

I watched the Emmys Sunday night.

I finished by varnishing Monday morning, then went home.

09/05/06 Diary

I didn’t accomplish much on the Labor day weekend.

I had a bunch of to-do things that I planned to get done: finish sanding and put another coat of varnish on, clean the boat, put gas in it, and pump the holding tank. I managed to do some cabin cleaning, but that was about all.

I spent most of Saturday just getting rid of junk that I didn’t need on the boat.

I went to the Observation Bar Saturday night. The entertainment was the slow Jazz singer and her accompaniment. There was hardly anyone there at nine o’clock. and more people were leaving then coming in. It’s not that she is such a bad singer, it’s just that her music is more suited to a coffee house than a place where people like to boogie. I thought it was a AARP convention on the boat, because there were some old people dancing.

I had my two cocktails, and a nice conversation with Evon, then went home early.

At the Observation Bar Saturday night

I did a little more cleaning Sunday, and visited with Rich and Leena for a while in the afternoon.

Katt came to the boat after working the Matinee at the Theater in the convention complex, and we had a few drinks, then went to her apartment for dinner and to watch a movie.

My plan for Monday morning was to take the boat for gas and a pump out. Katt rode her bike over to be my deck hand.

I started the boat, unhooked from the dock and backed out as usual, then my port engine quit. I managed to get back into my slip. I smelled something was hot, and it looked like the started solenoid had stuck again which locked up the starter. I figured that maybe the starter was shot, but it worked when I tried it after it had cooled for a while, so I thought I had escaped a major problem. Unfortunately, when I tried to turn the Battery switch off, I found that it was shorted. I disconnected the port battery, and the starting battery.

We had lunch, and I packed up and came home.

That’s where the situation is at this time. I will be going back tomorrow to try to replace the switch, and get the boat working again.

09/11/06 Diary

Last weekend was my boat Party, and we had a blast. I am late writing this diary. Just been busy doing other things.

I went to the boat Wednesday to replace the port battery switch. It was quite a job because I had to squeeze one hand and my head into a 18 x 18 inch opening to unbolt the old switch and install the new one. It took me most of the day.

I went down Friday to prepare for the party. I spent most of the day cleaning the cabin, and finish buying some more goodies. I had a late dinner and relaxed, for a while, then I got bored, and decided to call the Observation Bar to see who was performing. Evon said that Elvis was back, so I got dressed and took off for the Queen Mary.

There were a few of James King’s Elvis fans there. Mary was there, of course at her private table. I sat at the bar, danced a little, and enjoyed the music> I left early because I needed to get up early Saturday morning to get ready for the party.

I got up about seven o’clock Saturday morning. The first thing was wash the boat, then breakfast. I did a pre-launch checkout after breakfast, and ran the engines. Everything seemed to be working properly. I made a quick trip to the grocery store for ice, then started cooking. I told everyone that I would be ready for guests about one o’clock, but I expected that there would be some coming early. I expected about fourteen people that afternoon and evening.

My plan was to have cold cuts for sandwiches, and chip and dip, nuts, etc. snacks out for early afternoon, and then Chili and Sloppy Joe’s later in the day after we go for a short cruise. I made two pots of chili and two pounds of sloppy Joe hamburger, and left them on the stove for heating up latter.

John was first to arrive, and he helped me finish getting the sandwich stuff out, and we had a chance to get caught up on what’s happening in our lives. That is the best thing about getting my friends together.

I only had two no shows. One due to having to work and one with car problems.

We had John, Sherryl and Michael, Leslie and Scott, Lana, Katt, Naomi and David, Leena and Rich, and Valerie and her friend.

We took the boat out about four o’clock. I cruised past the Queen Mary and the QM Event park where there was a bunch of Biker Dudes having some kind of event. Lana thought it would be fun to flash them, so Lana, Sherryl and me lifted out tops and flashed. Neither Lana or Sherryl were wearing Bras, and have impressive boobs. I was wearing a bra because it’s the only way I can hold them up. Without a bra they hang down like an old Lady.

We went back to the dock about five. I don’t drink alcohol before I take the boat out, so I was happy to get back and have a gin.

I heated the Chili and Sloppy Joe’s, and we partied until about nine o’clock. Leslie, Scott, and Lana went to the Queen Mary earlier, and Naomi, Daniel, and I planned to come later. We got there a bit after nine.

We had fun dancing until after midnight.

Leslie and Scott were staying at a Motel in Long Beach, and Naomi and Dan went home. I crashed on the boat.

I got up in time to salute the Queen at her ten o’clock horn Sunday morning. I had a chili/cheese omelet for breakfast, and cleaned up the mess from the party.

Leslie and Scott came over about noon, and I heated some chili for their lunch. We were going to the Observation Bar for Chris and Lisa that afternoon. They went to the Village while I got dressed, then we went to the QM.

We had fun talking, dancing and drinking until they had to leave to go to a dinner with the people that bought one of Leslie’s businesses. Leslie is an Engineer. She and Scott are going to be Married in the next few months. They are a good match, with similar hobbies like Ham Radio, Trains, and Air Planes.

I went back to the boat to meet Katt who was just getting off work at the Theater in the Long Beach Convention Center, and Theater complex.

We had a dinner of left overs from the party, and had a talk about her efforts to find a better position. She left to go to her apartment, and I packed up and went home.

09/19/06 Diary

I had another fun weekend with my friends.

The main event was the final Saturday night for the Lodge. It’s been sold and will be turned into another Restaurant. Not some thing we need. What we need is more clubs that has good booze, friendly Bar Tenders, and dancing.

I drove to the boat Friday afternoon just to get out of the house after a week of repairing a fence. I stopped at Wilshire Wigs in North Hollywood for a new Marianne wig. The Marianne wigs are Nariko Mariah’s in Spring Honey. I write a number on each one to keep track of them because they are all look the same except for wear and tear. My new one is number 16.

I also wanted to check out some low cost Motels while I was in the area. The first two were dumps, but the Pepper Tree was clean and well maintained, so I decided to stay there Saturday night. They don’t take reservations, so I needed to call them to find out if they have a vacancy before going there Saturday afternoon.

I went to the Observation Bar Friday night (of course). The LA Lion band was playing. They have a good mix of Motown and similar music. There weren’t many customers there, but that has been the trend lately on Friday nights.

I sat at the bar as I usually do when I am alone. You aren’t going to meet new people (i.e. single guys) sitting alone at a table in the dark. I got a stool next to a guy that seemed to be alone and started a conversation. It turned into an interesting, and educational evening.

His name was Dak, and he was a Biochemist from Texas attending an Avon meeting on the Queen, and he was very drunk. I decided to practice my feminine personality on him, and pretend to be a dumb blond bimbo (no snickering please).

He wanted to educate me about all the poisons that we eat, breath, and put on our skin, plus all the poisons that the government has stored that will kill us instantly if not disposed of properly. I pretended to listen to his ranting admiringly, and inject a dumb question at the right moment when he started to wind down, and get him started again. He also told me about all the famous people he knew, places he has been, and patents he held.

It was fun for a while, but after over two hours, and no indication that he wanted, or was able to screw me, I decided to burst his bubble. I told him that I was an engineer, also have known some important people, been some interesting places, and had invented a few things for my employers that resulted in patent submissions. I let my age out of the bag when I told him about an improved synthesizer I designed in 1957 while working in the Computer Research Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin. He asked me how old I was, so I told him and I saw his jaw drop and his eyes go blank.

I said good night and went home to the boat.

At the Observation Bar Friday night

When I got up Saturday morning I found that my refrigerator wasn’t working again. everything was melted in the freezer. I checked the power to the condenser and it was OK, but the pump wasn’t running. I took the screen off the power supply and reset the breaker, and tried it again, but it still didn’t pump, so I unplugged it and let the pump cool off for a while. It started working when I plugged it back in later. I decided to not do anything further with it.

I packed my roll-on suitcase for my typical overnight trip; three dresses, shoes, and enough lingerie for any occasion. I also took some booze, but I didn’t have any ice.

I arrived in North Hollywood about two o’clock and called the Pepper Tree to find out if they had a vacancy. They did, but check in wasn’t until three, so I went to a restaurant for lunch. I picked up a bag of ice for the cooler on my way back to check in.

My room was small but clean and had nice furniture, and it was only $60/night. I discovered why it was so cheap later; No phone, no refrigerator, and no Kleenex, but the Air Conditioner and TV worked, and there was hot water in the morning.

I met Leslie and Scott at Vittelo’s in Studio City for dinner at seven. The food was excellent.

We wanted to get to The Lodge before nine o’clock, because we expected that the place would be Jammed later. We got there early enough to get good parking places, and three seats at the bar at Roxy’s side of the bar. BTW: Roxy is asking everyone to come to the Oxwood this Saturday night, because she is trying to get a full time job there.

There were several girls there that night that I knew, and I had a good time dancing and talking to old friends.

There was one guy I knew from the old days at the Queen Mary Club. I talked to him a bit but he didn’t see to have much interest in me. I told him I was wearing my favorite “fuck me dress”, but it still is a virgin since I bought it five months ago. That got a chuckle out of him.

There was another older gentleman that I met last month at The Port that gave me a kiss, but then went off to see if there was anyone younger around.

The place was totally full by midnight. It was so jammed that I could not move off of my stool, and I decided to leave. There was people lined up outside the entrance to get in as some one left.

I had no problem going up Lankershim to the Pepper Tree, and had a good nights sleep.

I got up fairly early, took a shower, packed, and checked out by ten o’clock. I drove to the Long Beach Cafe for breakfast, then went to the boat. I was happy to see that the refrigerator was still running.

I ran the engines for a while, then packed up and went home.

09/27/06 Diary

It was kind of a nothing weekend, which was OK with me because I wasn’t feeling all that great and was a bit depressed. I just get tired of the same old thing week after week, so I decided I am going to get out of town next weekend.

I got a late start Saturday. My daughter was visiting for a while, so I waited until she left before taking off for the boat.

My original plan was to go the Oxwood to support Roxy who was going to work the bar, but then I decided that it was too far to go just to have a couple of drinks, so I called Evon at the Observation Bar to find out who was playing. It was the LA Lion Band. I decided to go there for a little while.

There wasn’t many people there when I arrived at ten o’clock. I took a seat at the bar. There were two single guys there, but neither one of them showed any interest in me. I did get one of them to take my picture dancing.

I had my two gins and left.

I watched some TV and went to bed early

At the OB Saturday night

I needed to get the boat to the holding tank pump out station early Sunday morning while the wind was calm, so I took care of that as soon as I woke up about seven. I was going to get some gas and take the boat for a speed spin, but the fuel dock wasn’t open yet, so I just idled back to the dock.

I did some cleaning, then went to visit Leena for a little while.

I had a late lunch, then went to the Blue Cafe to listen to the Mama’s Boys. There were a few of my old friends there. This next Friday is the monthly Blues Cruise, and I wanted to go, so I asked Johnny Masters, the band leader if there was any tickets left. He said I could have one, but he didn’t have any with him. I told him that I would E-Mail him to remind him to save one for me.

I went to the Reef for dinner after leaving the Blues Cafe. I had a small plate of Baby Back Ribs, a couple of drinks, and enjoyed the view of the Harbor.

At the Reef for dinner Sunday

That was the extent of my weekend. I went home Monday morning.
