Fourth Quarter 2007 Diary

11/01/07 Diary

Yes; I am still alive and well. I just haven’t been out and about much lately, and I haven’t taken many pictures when I have been out.

October was all right though. I went to visit my mother in Wisconsin early in October ,and managed to get to the Gay Nineties Club in Minneapolis for their drag show.

It was amateurs night. They perform after the regular show, then the Professionals critics the performance and make suggestions on how they could do better. The winner gets to perform at the regular Sunday show.

I spent five days visiting my mother in the nursing facility. She is ninety four years old and is in good physical health, but suffers from dementia. Her memory was fairly good during my visit , but loses track when she is tired, and can’t remember where she is.

Visiting my old residences in Wisconsin was interesting. Our old dairy farm fields was fallow the last time I was there three years ago, but now they were growing corn to sell for making ethanol. I noticed that most farms in the area were doing the same, and some corn fields extended for miles. I saw two ethanol plants on the one hundred trip back to Minneapolis.

One of the reasons I haven’t been out much in Long Beach is that the Queen Mary is now under new management and the entertainment in the Observation Bar hasn’t been worth going to. It’s fine when James King is there doing his Elvis thing but he is only there for a gig once in a while on Friday nights. It was a DJ and KARIOKE the last two times I have called to find out who was on.

Last Halloween weekend was great!

The last Blues Cruise of the year was Friday night, and it was to be a Halloween dress up party. I bought a black floor length cape with a hood that was perfect for a Star Wars Galactic Empress. I also got some green and white makeup kits to give me a deadly complexion. My long black dress with the net jacket was perfect with the cape. My red wig completed the costume.

Scott drove Leslie to the train station to go to work early Friday morning, then went to the boat. I got there a little before noon.

After lunch Scott worked on cleaning the boat, and I installed the new refrigerator thermostat and got it running. I made a pot of My World famous chili for dinner. Scott went to pick up Leslie from the Metro station about five o’clock.

We started getting ready for the cruise after dinner. I was the Evil Galactic Empress, Mistress of the Dark Side, Leslie was a Space Super Girl, and Scott was a cute Sarah.

We left for the Star Cruise about seven o’clock. We arrived at the dock a little before they were boarding, and were one of the first to board, so we were able to get a drink before it got crowded.

There was only about half of the number of people on board as there are during the summer, but that was good for us because there was no problem finding a seat in the cabin, and room to dance. The Mama’s Boys band were great, and we all danced.

The outer Harbor was a little rough for a while, but it got smoother as we went west. We had fun and got back to the dock on schedule at eleven o’clock. I was the designated driver, and I only had one beer and one martini all night. We got back to the “My World” without any problem, and THEN I had my gin.

We got a late start Saturday morning. We had Chili Omelets and I had my usual two Bloody Marys. The plan for the day was to go up to the Cactus Castle that afternoon and go to the Westside Bar Saturday night in Victorvillie for their Halloween party.

Scott and Leslie left after the noon salute to the Queen, and I packed and left for the Castle a little before the three o’clock salute.

Leslie made a nice vegetable dinner, then we got dressed for the party. Our costumes where the same as Friday night, except I put on some green face paint.

We arrived at the bar about nine o’clock, and it was already full, but there were three chairs in the DJ Booth with a view of most of the room, and the DJ let us sit there. He was a very nice guy.

The bar is owned by two ex-Marines, and caters to current and ex-Marines, so there was a lot of very large and muscular guys there. It is also very GLBT friendly, and there was five or six other T Girls there beside us. Leslie and Scott are well known there and one of the owners asked them if they wanted the usual. He recognized me too but wasn’t sure what I wanted to drink.

Our seats were by the front door so we enjoyed talking to people as they came in and out of the smoking area in front. Ed, one of the bar owners also spent a lot of time at the front door, and he and I talked a lot about our experiences during the Korean War. He is one year older than me. There was also a guy dressed like a Cop that I enjoyed talking to.

they announced the winners of the costume competition about eleven o’clock and the winner was the DJ. The strip show started soon after that, and the first one up was my Cop friend. I went out on the dance floor and stuck a dollar bill down his shirt, then I danced with him for a little while. Scott was just ready to take a picture of this when I exited the floor. I took one picture of him, but realized that I wasn’t supposed to take pictures during the show. I understand why a little later when some of the girls started stripping down to their thongs. There were a lot of tits and cocks swinging around by the time we left a little after midnight.

Leslie made some bacon and eggs Sunday morning. We watched an 1982 movie called Best Friends with Burt Reynolds and Goldie Hawn in their theater. Its about two screen writers that lived together for a few years, then decided to get married. That screwed up their relationship after they visited their parents.

I drove home after lunch.

11/05/07 Diary Not much to talk about. I worked on sanding and oiling the teak Saturday. I called the Observation Bar to find out who was playing and the girl said they were playing seventy and eighties music which usually means the Highway One Group which plays danceable music, so I put on my Fuck Me dress and went to the QM for dinner and dancing.

I stopped at the OB on my way to the Promenade Cafe to check with Evon on who was playing that night. What a change! The bar tenders and waitresses were wearing bluejeans and brown shirts instead of formal wear, and short skirts, and the stage was setting up for KARIOKE.

I had a prime rib in the Cafe, then went back to the Bar and found a seat. There was a couple of drunks trying to sing on the stage and I decided that I wouldn’t be doing any dancing that night. I ordered my usual from one of the two waitresses working the Lounge, then waited for it’s delivery for fifteen minutes. I paid my check when I finally got it. The KDJ was the only singer during the half hour it took me to finish my Martini. He wasn’t a bad singer, but no one else was getting a chance to sing although his request jar was full of names and songs from volunteers in the audience.

I stopped to talk to Evon on my way out and told him that I thought the Observation Bar was going down the tubes.

I went back to the boat and watched the movie Switch for the umteenth time.

11/12/07 Diary

It was a nice two night weekend with Scott and Leslie on the boat. They have been great helping me with getting the boat in good shape, and especially now since I have had a serious problem with pain in both of my legs. The pain started about six weeks ago and have become more painful every week. I have been to a physician but she wasn’t able to find the problem. I went to the hospital today for some cardiatic tests. The prelinary result are that my arteries are normal.

We went to Busters Long Board Bar Friday night to listen to the Flyer Band and to dance. It was fun. My leg problem was either in remission or I was medicated by my two gin martinis. We stayed until midnight.

Marianne has had a few also

The first thing to do Saturday morning was to take the boat to the Pump out station. We went to the facility near the Marina office first, but both units were out of order, so we went to the units on the dock by Parkers Light House. The pump worked but the dock is in realy bad shape.

We took the boat out to blow out some carbon after we lightend the ship. It ran good, so I think it's ready for the boat parade on December 8.

I was able to do some sanding on the bridge exterior Saturday. Scott and Leslie went to the Marine store, and returned with some outstanding early Christmas gifts for the boat. They bought new navigation lights for the stern, side red and green lights and a two way Anchor/ navigation light for the front pole. They installed the stern and side lights, and plan to install a new front pole and lights next weekend.

We went to the Observation Bar Saturday night. Scott had called earlier to find out who was playing, and was told it was going to be the Highway One band. They are fairly good, but didn’t they show up. Evon didn’t know why. We stayed anyway.

We had a couple of drinks and some very good Buffalo Wing Hordurves. It was a nice respite from the work we have been doing on the boat.

We packed up Sunday morning then left for home after saluting the Queen at the noon horn.

We accomplished a lot of repairs this weekend, thanks again to Scott and Leslie. Scott fixed the VHF Radio. Leslie replaced the forward navigation/anchor light, and cleaned up the bridge wiring. I finished oiling the Teak, and a few other minor chores.

Scott was on the boat when I arrived Friday afternoon. We did a little organizing of the luggage, and cleaning. I wanted to start getting the wood wire channel on the windshield loose so we could put the light up, so I attacked that. Scott took the plastic windshield down, cleaned it, swabbed the aft deck, and picked up Leslie from the train she took after work.

Friday night was James King as Elvis in the Queen Mary Observation Bar. The OB was crowded but we were able to stake out a plush couch and chair. We had fun dancing and listening to Elvis.

Saturday was a work day. Leslie did the forward navigation/anchor light, Scott worked on the Radio, and I did some sanding and oiling.

We got cleaned up, and dressed in time for the six o’clock salute. My dear friend Heather arrived about Seven, got ready and we drove to the Cafe D’ Entoile for dinner.

The warm welcome we got was wonderful. Every one remembered me, Leslie, and Scott. Heather hadn’t been there for more than four years, so she needed to be re-introduced. I am sure she will be remembered the next time we go there.

The Cafe D’ patrons are special gentlemen. They cleared four stools at the bar for us so we could get a drink while our table was being prepared. The meal was exceptional. I had a halibut and prawns. Our dinners were gourmet in every way; the presentation, the food, and the service. I recommend the Cafe D’ to all of my readers. It is located on the North Side of Santa Monica Blvd. Three doors East of Robertson. There telephone number is 310-278-1011.

We stayed for a little while after dinner, dessert, and drinks. I finished with some coffee, because I was the designated driver. We got back to the boat about midnight.

Leslie made a great omelet for brunch Sunday morning. Then we started cleaning up the boat, and organizing stuff.

We discovered a hidden speaker while Leslie was cleaning up the wires under the bridge dashboard. There was phantom wires not connected to anything. she traced it from the cabin overhead to the power distribution box. When it was connected to the VHF Radio a speaker hidden in the overhead came alive. I never had any idea that it was there.

We packed our luggage and left for home about three o’clock

12/05/07 Diary

The holidays are my busy season, so it’s difficult for me to be timely posting this diary. This diary is just my recollection of the fun times my friends and I have experienced. One of the reasons that I take a lot of pictures and post some of them on this page is because its the only way I can remember what we did.

Last Friday was my friend Scott’s Birthday, so his wife Leslie and I took him to Sir Winstons for dinner. We got there early enough to spend some time in the Sir Winstons lounge for some music and a drink. We were given a nice window table and had an exceptional dinner.

We sent to the Observation Bar after dinner and enjoyed James King’s performance of the other King (Elvis)

We went back to the boat early because we were all tired after a long wet Friday.

Saturday was another work day on the boat. Thanks again to Leslie and Scott we got a lot done, including replacing a drain through hull fitting that I managed to break coming back into the slip after a pump out, and the head exhaust blower that hasn’t worked in fifteen years..

James King was performing again on the Queen Saturday night, so we went back there and had a ball.

I wore my FM Dress that tends to expose my bra, and there was a lady there that seemed to have a problem with that and kept rearranging my dress to fix it. I finally told her that I was wearing my fuck me dress and to leave my bra alone! She got the hint ;-)

We Left early again because we had enough to drink and the OB was getting too full. We went back to the Boat to watch a movie.

12/17/07 Diary

The annual Holiday boat parade was scheduled for December eighth and I had sent invitations to my friends to join me in a party and to watch the parade from the good ship MY WORLD. Almost everyone had other plans for that weekend, but we still had a good group, and had fun.

The crew included my neighbors Rich and Leena, Val, one of her friends, Val’s Daughter Julie and one of her friends, and Scott and Leslie.

It was icy cold that night, but warm and toasty in the cabin. I decided that it was too cold and windy to take the boat out to watch the parade, so we (including the captain) had a lot to drink, then walked to Parker’s Light House restaurant to watch the parade from the enclosed and heated patio and had more to drink. There wasn’t as many boats in the parade as usual.

We stumbled back to the boat to finish the chili and snacks. Everyone except Scott and Leslie left by ten o’clock. We cleaned up and wemt to bed.

Sunday morning was get well time. I had a category four hangover, but a couple of blody marys and some food got me going to get ready for the Gender Center party at the Abbey in West Hollywood that afternoon..

The plan was for Scott and Leslie to go home after the party. I packed a suitcase so I could stay in a hotel if necessary, but my plan was to not drink much and drive back to the boat.

I got to the Abbey a little after three o’clock, and there was a good crowd there. I enjoy this annual party because many of my old friends are there. I saw over a half dozen girls that I hadn’t seen since last year.

The party was over at six o’clock and several of us went to the Cafe D’ entole for dinner. Scott, Leslie, Naomi and her boyfriend, Susanne and her friend, and I had a reservation. We had an excelent dinner.

I had had one martini at the Abbey. and one glass of Merlot at the Cafe ‘D, so I felt confident to drive back to the boat. I got there about nine o’clock and let everyone know I was safely on the ship.

I packed up to drive home Monday noon when I discovered that I didn’t have my eye glasses. I searched the boat and could not find them. I went to Parker’s Light House to see if I had left them there Saturday night, but they didn’t have them. I called the Cafe D’ and asked them if they had them, but they didn’t, I called the Abbey and left them a message on their voice mail and haven’t received a response.

I went to the boat last Saturday December fifteenth to search for my eye glasses once more. I checked every inch, nook and cranny with no result. I gave up on finding them, so I ordered a replacement.

My nice neighbors Rich and Leena invited me to go with them to watch the boat parade in the Long Beach Alamitos bay, and to walk through the Naples district to look at the decorated mansions there on Saturday night. I have never done that even though I have had my boat in Long Beach for over twenty years.

We left Shoreline Marina about four o’clock to find a parking place within walking distance in Naples. We were too late to find parking within a mile of the bay, so we ended up going to the other side of the bay where we were able to get parking overlooking the parade. Apparently you have to go to Naples by three o’clock to be able to walk around the district to see the decorated houses. I intend to do that next weekend.

I came home Sunday afternoon.

Scott and Leslie vacationed on the boat the week before Christmas, and I joined them on Friday. We had a good time.

We started with an old fashion Red Car trip on the railway from the San Pedro cruise terminal to the Utro Resturant. Very interesting.
