This team should really be called the Atlanta Rison-Sanders, they're pretty much the only players worth using. However, these two are great. On O, I switch Rison and Dixon's spots, and basically I throw it to Rison a lot, even if he's covered. Eventually they start intercepting passes where he is, so I go with the other receivers, who are adequate. It's tough to keep rotating them though, since somebody's always in bad shape it seems like. Miller is not great as a QB but suffers from Majkowski-itis, meaning he overthrows a lot on long passes, which makes it easier for Rison to catch them. Miller is decently fast too. Rozier is a mediocre running back, but can catch well. I use him if my passing game isn't working, and he's decent at that. On D, Neon Deion Sanders is pretty much your only option. He's blazing fast, but since he's a d-back, you run the risk of letting guys be wide open if you go for a sack. The D as a whole is ok. And you have multi-sport athlete Brian Jordan as a back too, who intercepts a lot of passes. Rozier is probably your best bet for kick returns, though Jones is also decent as a kick returner, I got two TDs from him before I leared Rozier was faster. For punts, go with Rozier or Thomas. And the kicker, whatever his name is, is weird. I hit the goalpost like 8 times with him on extra points. Bizarre.
Troy used the Falcons as a rushing team, with Rozier doing most of the work, and went 13-3 with them. So that's another option.
On Defense, when Singletary was healthy,
he could barely be stopped and even got me 7 sacks in one game, although
I know that's not the record. After him I was a little lost as to
who to use but I tried using Carrier who had some speed. Bailey was
a pretty good kick returner and Green was alright as well. You can
use Harbaugh or Tomczak at quarterback, see what works for you. Offense
was simply Neal Anderson for me. He carried my team with 47 touchdowns.
He's no Bo Jackson, as in his speed, but he was 3 out of 4 of my running
plays. Muster is pretty tough but not fast. Don't ask me about
my recievers. I don't know because they were clearly the minority
of my offense and I only went to them when I had to, to open up the running
game.
Word up, Neal Anderson is ridiculous,
plus he's a good receiver. Them QBs aren't too good, either.
On Defense, exploit the brute strength
of Alvin Pike, right DE. While on Offense, maximize your rushing threats
with a well-conditioned Mack (make note of his hitting power, which will
reach 100 when he's excellent) and
the underestimated Metcalf. Slaughter and Langhorne make a good pair of
receivers who can easily each have 1000-yard seasons. Be aware of Cleveland's
poor rush defense, which never rose above 28th during my undefeated season.
For special teams, use Metcalf at kick returner for optimal yardage --
but at the high risk of injury.
Darn tootin, Dave was 16-0 with this stuff.
QB Browns (aka Bernie Kosar) is really good, he set the record for most
passing yards in a season. They suck at interceptions though.
On defense, use DT Jerry Ball for "Sacks
to the MaxTM*" (my season record is 84).
On offense, few can stop the agile Barry Sanders from easily gaining 15
yards or more per rush. Rodney Peete will satiate your passing needs,
but as I proved, one can go virtually an entire season on the Lions without
ever throwing a pass.
I got Indianapolis when we all chose to
take the teams with the worst record. I was pissed at first, I lost to
New England right off, but they're really not too bad. On passing, George
is pretty good, but I did really well with Trudeau. He was the number
one passer when I played with him. Bentley is not a bad rusher, though
he seems to be in bad condition a lot. Ivy Joe Hunter's name is really
cool, but he isn't too good except for short yardage, as he's tough. The
receivers are pretty good, Brooks got a lot of yards. Hester is good for
kick returning, and Verdin for punts. On defense, Clancy (RE), Armstrong
(NT), and Jeff Herrod (LB) are all decent pass rushers. Whoever's in best
condition is the one to go with. Clancy is better at stopping the run,
generally. They are also pretty awful at rush defense, but I managed to
win the Super Bowl with them.
The Chiefs kick major booty. I think
Okoye is the best rusher in the game, he's so tough and quick, and Word
isn't too shabby either. Word makes a good punt and kick returner, along
with McNair. De Berg is a decent passer, but I replace Robb Thomas with
Stephone Paige (switch places that is). Derrick Thomas is soo fast on
defense, he's a one man butt kicking machine.
The only way to dodge Derrick Thomas is
by playing run and shoot. And you'd better hope to contain Christian Okoye
if you plan on winning.
The Rams are solid. Jim "Chris" Everett is a good passer, and Willie "Flipper" Anderson is an amazing receiver - Dave had him at a 73.6 yards per catch average until the 8th game, when calamity struck and our season was erased. The running backs are mediocre, though they have a guy named Curt Warner, which is funny. But Dave left, so this is all I got.
The Vikings aren't a great team, but you can win with them. Herschel Walker is an OK back, but is a good receiver out of the backfield. QB Wade Wilson isn't great but Rich Gannon (!) stinks. Your receivers are pretty solid, with A. Carter the fastest, and Steve Jordan is a great tight end. For defense, Millard is probably the best. On returns, Anderson is nasty at punts and Clark is also good. For kicks, Anderson and Clark are ok, or Walker or A. Carter if you want to risk it.
The Pats are pretty awful. Immediately bench Grogan. In my first two games, he threw more passes way way over the receivers than I have fingers, toes, and mitochondria, and he was in average condition! On receiving, Dykes and Fryar are above agerage, and TE Cook is good, he led my team in receptions. When it comes to rushing, you might as well give all 4 plays to whoever is in the best condition and put in a backup WR in the other RB spot. And don't run much anyway, they aren't too good. Most of their D guys are mediocre, but on the whole the defense is pretty good. I usually play as Tippett or Singleton on the line. The Pats are fun though, as you actually have to coach and struggle for first downs and do that thing I hear they use in the NFL or something, "punting."
The Saints are pretty crummy - I see why they were called the Aints. That being said, you can win with them for one reason: Dalton Hilliard. I was struggling in my season until I learned to lean on B. Dalton. He's a fast running back and good receiver as well. Craig "Iron Head" Heyward is a decent replacement if DH is out. At QB, Walsh and Fourcade both pretty much stink, I usually went with whoever was feeling best or seemed to be doing well that game. Your receivers are also pretty average, I guess the best is Eric Martin, but he is nothing special. For these reasons, I usually ran a lot, passing for less than 100 yards a game and squeezing out wins with solid D. On defense, Jim Wilks at nose tackle is a sack machine, I tied the record with 13 in a game with him. The rest are decent. And you are blessed at kick returns with Gil Fenerty, probably one of the best in the game. He got 6 kick return touchdowns for me, plus one in the playoffs, which is pretty rare. Heyward is a very good punt returner, and Fenerty is a good backup. So while the games are more like real football, you can still win with this team. I went 15-1 last time with them, losing only to Dave's Rams.
The J-E-T-S Jets are not too shabby. O.Brien is not
a bad passer, Al Toon is a good catcher guy. Mathis is a great punt returner.
The running backs are decent, Blair Thomas is quick. It's been awhile
since i've played with them so I can't remember who is good at defense.
I think Philly is one of the best teams in the game. Their defense is great, I set a record for fewest yards, fewest opposing points, and stuff like that. Jerome Brown and Reggie White are good pass rushers, and the secondary is pretty quick. On offense, QB Eagles (Cunningham)
is a machine. He's a pretty good passer, but if everybody's covered, he
can just take off, he's a great rusher. He's always the leading rusher
on the team for me. I usually put Byars with Quick or another receiver
as running backs, they can catch more passes that way. I usually don't
use the running plays, Cunningham can run whenever he wants. Fred Barnett
is a great receiver. For Kick Returns, Kenny Jackson is very good, and Drummond
is good too, and a few of them are good at punts, like Quick and Toney.
In all, this team dominates, they can go 19-0 easy.
Can't stop QB Eagles. Don't even try!
His double-threat is unmatched in Tecmological history. Cheesesteaks suck
too.
Pittsburgh is not a bad team. Brister
is pretty decent at quarterback, and Hoge can do allright at RB.
His backups are decent too. I usually shuffle receivers to get whoever
is in the best condition in there. On defense, Lloyd and Little are your
best bets if you prefer lineman, but Rod Woodsoon is very fast as a safety.
Calloway, Stone, and Bell are awesome returners, they have practically
every record in the book.
Well, I picked the Seahawks because they
are one of the worst teams with no real stars. I was also looking
for an accurate passer however, and Krieg is that. His passes are
rainbows, but they're accurate, and the receivers are pretty good too,
Blades and Kane are good quick ones and Heller is a good tight end.
I got Blades and Heller to both get 1000 yards receving, something I'd
never seen before. Rushing is a problem however, most of them are
crappy, and I only got one 100-yard game, with Jones when he was in excellent
condition. That said, I usually put in whoever's in best condition.
I had it set up so there were three rushing plays for one guy and one for
the other and I put a receiver with good hands (Skansi or Chadwick or McNeal)
in as the second running back. I didn't rush much, so this made sense.
As for kick returners, Jones is pretty good at both kick and punt, and
Heller is good at kicks, but I think he's more valuable as a tight end.
Jones is good all around, and when the receivers were hurt or in bad condition,
he and John L. WIlliams made good replacements. Jones has the record
for most total yards (rush, receive, punt and kick return). On defense,
most of them are pretty slow. The best guy on the line is Green.
He's slow, but if you go diagonally up and to the left with him, he can
get through the line pretty well. He had about 40 sacks, and lots
of backfield tackles. In general though, this team has a mediocre
at best offense and defense. Krieg is basically the only offensive
weapon. They're fun though, since it's a little tougher.
Back in the olden days, the Bucs sucked butt. Testaverde is decent. For some reason, Peebles is a good returner. He's not fast, but he manages to find a lot of holes and got 3 or 4 return TDs. Their D is great at intercepting, with Reynolds getting six and the 4 back guys getting a total of 15. Haddix is fast, Carrier is decent, but the line guys are pretty much a crapshoot, whoever is feeling the best. Though with the good pass D comes their horrible rush defense. I think I was first in the league in pass D and last in rush. But they are fun to play, as you actually have to coach and plan and stuff.
The Redskins are a pretty good team. On O, Rypien is a pretty good passer,
and the receivers, Monk, Clark and Sanders are all good. Sanders is also a good rusher, and with the weird 3 WR set up, you can give him as many rushing plays as you want. I got both him and Byner (also above average) to 1000 yards. On D, Green is about your only weapon, as he's fast. I managed to go 16-0 though, so you can do it! Mitchell is a pretty slow returner, but he manages to get it done. The rest are so-so.
