I was born in Salerno, Italy, 20th June 1965. I obtained my Laurea degree from the University of Rome in 1989, with thesis work on the mechanism of benzylic oxidation induced by model systems of cytochrome P-450, carried out under the supervision of Prof. E. Baciocchi. I got my PhD at the University of Rome in 1994 with a thesis entitled "Fragmentation Reactions of Aromatic Cation Radicals: a Tool to Study the Mechanisms of Biomimetic and Enzimatic Oxidations". I received two CNR fellowship in 1995 and 1996 to support my postdoctoral work. I have carried out some of doctoral and postdoctoral work at the
Max-Planck Institute Fur Strahlenchemie in Muelheim a.d. Ruhr, Germany, in the laboratory of Prof. S. Steenken. From July 1996 I am a Researcher in the Department of Chemistry, Centro di Studio sui Meccanismi di Reazione of CNR at the University of Rome, La Sapienza.
My research interests cover the field of electron transfer processes, with particular attention to the study of the reactivity of radical cations of alkylaromatics, aromatic sulfides, amines and alcohols, generated with chemical, biomimetic and enzymatic systems.
