Chrome Dinette Concert Posters from 1982
Chrome Dinette
Chrome Dinette was a San Francisco area band
in the early 1980's. I was living in Berkeley at
the time, right around the corner from the Keystone
(which has since become a pharmacy, or maybe a phone
company store...), and Chrome Dinette used to
play there occasionally.
Even before I saw them live, I thought they had an
incredibly cool name for a band. And once I saw
them, I was hooked!
I didn't make it to the record release party, but I
was at the other two conerts.
Chrome Dinette consisted of:
Chris Witt Ketner - instruments and vocals
Terry Thorn - synthesized percussion, vocals, drums
Adam Greiffer - guitar, synthesizer, vocals
In 1982, the band put out a 12" single
(Robot Love and Can't Live Without You)
and (so the story goes) went to work trying to get a
record contract.
When the contract didn't materialize, the band broke up.
Chris Witt Ketner started another band, called
Zulu Pool. I have no idea what's happened to any
of the members since then... maybe someday they'll be out
surfing the net and drop by...
My favorite Chrome Dinette song was called Lolita,
based very loosely on the novel of the same name... how did
it go?
I remember when I was back in school,
I never knew a girl who looked like you;
Now I work for the Phone Company,
And every asshole there looks just like me.
Lolita, Lolita.
Lolita, Lolita.
I dream about you...
So... if anybody from the band, or anybody who has any
old tapes of the band, ever happens by... or even anybody
who remembers Chrome Dinette...
email me.
'Specially if you have tapes!
