Type O
played at the Brixton Academy and were supported by Stuck Mojo and
Entombed. Stuck Mojo were really good and their singer was dancing about
like a flea on acid! Entombed, unfortunately, weren't that impressive
although all the blokes behind us seemed to enjoy beating the crap out of
each other to them. I think the reports of them being the next Sepultura
are a little overrated.
Type O's stage had a big forest backdrop and there were little trees all
over the place. They all came on and tormented most people for about two
minutes with music and flashing lights so all you could see were their
silhouettes. They began with a song I haven't heard of and then went in to
Love You To Death and then Cinnamon Girl followed by In Praise Of Bacchaus.
Stuck Mojo's singer and guitarist came on and did Kill All The White
People which got everyone leaping around. There was a cover of The Door's
Light My Fire and then a few more songs. They finished on Black No.1 and
then proceeded to have a toilet roll fight with the audience after Pete
Steel tore all his bass strings off (which doesn't cease to amaze
everyone!).
The gig was absolutely brilliant. It's annoying that you can never
remember the whole of a gig coz that one was really worth remembering.
Hopefully some nice TV station chose to record a show for us.
So there you go. Best day so far this year music wise. Anyway, I'll send
you another report from the front next week when Marilyn Manson play
Brixton!
