The release of the Isley Brothers "Baby Makin' Music" has been pushed back to May 9. For the Ernie fans, the guitar virtuoso will be heard on the tracks, "You're My Star" and "Heaven Hooked Us Up".
BABY MAKIN' MUSIC contains two special cuts from Manuel Seal, Jr., (co-producer of Mariah Carey's smash "We Belong Together" and Usher's smash hit, "My Boo" with Alicia Keys): "Show Me" is "real baby-makin' music!" according to Ron Isley. And "Give It To You", he calls a "2006 version of "Between The Sheets," a song about a guy who didn't get the chance to make love with his woman the last time they were together," Ron adds. "When they do, well, you can imagine the rest…."

Giving A "Body Kiss"
The Isley Brothers...featuring Ronald Isley... a.k.a. Mr. Biggs
(an identity he created for an R. Kelly Video), will release their next
album, Body Kiss on May 6th. The album is the follow-up to the group's guest-filled 2001 release, Eternal, which found the legendary soul ensemble celebrating its fortieth anniversary by working with the likes of Kelly, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and Jill Scott. The new album's first single is "What Would You Do," which has already hit radio. The group will head to Chicago on February 10th for a two-day video shoot with director Billie Woodruff (Britney Spears).
In other Isley news, Legacy will continue their string of reissues for
the group in April. The group's classic 1973 release 3 + 3 (featuring the hit "That Lady, Pt. 1 and 2") will be remastered and expanded along with Caravan of Love, the 1984 album issued by the splinter group featuring Ernie and Marvin Isley along with cousin Chris Jasper. Also in the works is an album featuring the Isley Brothers hits remixed by various DJs. A lineup of remixers has not yet been set.

"WE JUST SAID, 'GIVE US YOUR BEST. LET'S BLOW EVERYONE'S
MINDS!' " relates bona fide pop
legend Ron Isley of the roster assembled for the Isley
Brothers' new album, "Eternal"
(due Aug 7, 2001, from DreamWorks Records). "We're
at a point in our career where I feel we're doing our very best
work. We try to outdo ourselves with each record, but this time,
we're really out for blood. It's like the Isley Brothers Super
Bowl."
In
addition to the compositions written by Ron and Ernie Isley,
"Eternal" boasts an impressive roster of guest producers,
writers and performers: R. Kelly, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis,
Lucy Pearl/former Tony! Toni! Tone! vocalist Raphael
Saadiq and hot newcomer Steve Huff. Keeping it in
the family, Isley's wife, Angela Winbush, has lent her
songwriting, production and vocal skills as well.
"We
chose these collaborators because we admire them enormously,
and they already have a firm grasp of the Isley Brothers flavor,"
Isley continues. "We've got a lot of faith in these folks.
In the case of Jimmy and Terry, I'd always wondered what
it would be like to work with them. We'd talked about it over
the years and knew it'd be great to do an album together, but
the timing and the inspiration had to be there at the same time.
It finally happened with this record."
Isley
is quick to mention brother Ernie's involvement as well.
"He'll definitely have a lot of guitar solos; every time
Ernie has solos, like on 'Who's That Lady' or 'Summer
Breeze,' they turn out to be hits!" Recorded in Minneapolis,
Chicago and Los Angeles, the new Isley's offering will also
unveil a reinterpretation of the Chicago classic "If
You Leave Me Now," which Isley considers "a masterpiece."

Soul Train Music Awards
After nearly four decades and more than 40 hit
records with the Isley Brothers, Ronald Isley was presented
with the Quincy Jones Award for outstanding career achievement,
Soul Train's version of a lifetime achievement award.
The legendary artist thanked the forces in his life -- "God,
my family" that "kept me doin' this."
"The
best compliment you can give the Lord at a time like this is
Hallelujah!" he added. "This means so much to me and
my family. It's because of you fans. It's because of you fans.
It's because of you fans. It's because of you fans. [yes, he
said this four times in a row] I am looking forward to some
of the best music we've made in our lives this year." Keeping
with the tradition of old artists turned hip artists, Isley
said he will be working with a stable of undisclosed young hitmakers
to mix a new formula for success. -

Michael Bolton Appeal
Michael Bolton has been forced to eat
crow yet again. Bolton lost his bid to the U.S. Supreme Court
to overturn a $5.4 million jury verdict that his song " Love
Is A Wonderful Thing," copied parts of the 1961
Isley Brothers song of the same name. The high court, without
any comment or argument, rejected an appeal by Bolton, co-writer
Andrew Goldmark, and their record companies challenging
the largest reported music infringement judgment involving a
single song. -
