Raekwon the Chef

Only Built 4 Cuban Link...

5 out of 5 stars

Right away I knew this album was going to be dope. If the first three Wu-tang(group and solo) albums were any hint, I knew what the outcome of this album was going to be. This album is probably the best out of all the other solo wu-tang joints so far. It's about as equal as Enter the 36 Chambers, maybe even better in some areas. But also like Enter..., it has too much talking between songs. But the songs themselves make up for this irrelevant fact.

The dopest cut on the album is Wu-Gambinos which might as well be a Wu-tang joint instead of a raekwon joint. Meth is on point as always and Rza sounds like he doesn't take a breath throughout his own verse. Masta Killer is a welcome edition to the Wu-tang family, appearing not just on this song but also on the first single Glaciers of Ice. Hopefully he'll be on the next Wu-tang album. Also check the new single Criminology. Great beat, great flow. Another great cut on the album is Verbal Intercourse with Nas. Nas is by far one of the dopest MC's out there today and his verse only makes this song better. Ghost Face Killer appears on 12 of the 16 tracks making this really the Raekwon and Ghost Face Killer album but this addition only makes it fatter. Raekwon definity deserves the hype. His style is like a semi-automatic shooting in ya at full force. He raps hard over slow flowing beats(great production by the Rza, best yet). All in all this is an instant hip hop classic.
