Who is Sammy Hagar?
aaaaaI don't know a lot about Sammy Hagar, but since I didn't find any Sammy pages when I first started on the internet I thought I'd make one. Since actually meeting Sammy I have become a huge fan of his. I especially enjoy spending time on the Sammy Hagar Mailing List (see redrocker.com). This is where all of Sammy's netheads (and MULLY) hang out and discuss everything from Sammy to whatever was on the news (or even Schoolhouse rock).
aaaaaSammy originally wanted to be a professional fighter until he saw his sister's reaction to Elvis. Sammy first started out in music with a band called Montrose put together by Ronnie Montrose, former guitarist for the Edgar Winter Group. Because Ronnie didn't let Sammy play guitar he split from Montrose and took some of the other members of Montrose with him. In his solo career he opened for acts such as Boston and built a loyal following of fans. He also penned such classics as "I Can't Drive 55" and "There's Only One Way To Rock" (though there is so much more to his solo work than those songs). Sammy then joined on with Van Halen as lead singer and had 10 great years and one bad year. Being dumped by Eddie Van Halen on Father's Day 1996 he soon started in on a new era of solo Sammy Hagar. His new release titled "Marching to Mars" puts together talent such as Mickey Hart (of the Grateful Dead), Damon Johnson (of Brother Cane), Slash (formerly of Guns 'n' Roses), Bootsy Collins (grandmaster of funk), and the entire original lineup of Montrose for a completely awesome song that had Eddie Van Halen going "WOW".
Sammy is also owner of the "Cabo Wabo Cantina" in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. If you have heard of Sammy Hagar you have probably heard of the Cabo Wabo. Sammy is married to Kari Hagar and has 2 sons, Aaron and Andrew, and a daughter, Kama.
