Proudest Monkey's Review This was not one of my favorites songs when I first got UTTAD...Probably because it doesn't have a catchy melody like BOWA, TYPSIT, and JIMI. But after listening to it many times, I began to realize how great and how romantic this song really is. I now love this song and whenever I want to wallow in my misery, track #8 is first on my playlist.

lover lay down is a great love song i love rois sax and at live shows he steals the show whenever i hear it it makes me think of a girl i want to be with.

Now THIS is a song. Lover Lay Down is my absolute favorite Dave Matthews Band song. This song is just beautiful from Dave's voice to LeRoi's mellow sax (I think its a sax!) This is an incredible song that is by far one of the best that the band has. Jeremy Bingaman P.S. I think next week's song should be "What will become of me" What a tune!
David Hensley
Good bassline. Also like the part where Dave's voice gets real high - "Chasing me all around, leading me all around in circles."

"Lover Lay Down" is a very romantic and sensual song. It makes you think about the true love of your life.

Lover Lay Down makes me want to fall in love. It is so mellow and relaxing. This song is the bomb!

If you want to listen to beauty in its simplest form, simply listen to Lover Lay Down. This song will put even the saddest person in a good mood. Credited by Boyd as his favorite song on UTTAD, Lover Lay Down brings together all of the bands mellow abilities to create a truly moving piece. Dave conveys an easily relatable feeling the desire to have the one you want by your side, but knowing that he or she is just two steps too far away. You get the feeling that Dave is almost rehearsing what he will say when he finally gets this person, and he wants it so bad he can actually picture it he's actually tricked himself into believing it's happening. Finally, it all ends with Leroi's mellow, but inspiring solo. Lover Lay Down, though sad in lyrics, always leaves you happy.

good song, but you have to be in the right mood to listen to it. It is really good when you are coming down from some kind crazy night......if you know what i mean.

Great song. Cool and mellow. I particularlly like how the song ends. The drums, sax, and violin are perfect.

This song has a very sensual feeling about it. The first time I heard it I was sitting on the porch with the breeze blowing. It was the exact same feeling that the song gave off.

I think this is one of the more romantic songs DMB has. It makes me want to be with my girlfriend.

Lover Lay Down was a perspective song for my high school seinor prom. It narrowly lost to Satellite.' I love it..

I love this song. It's really mellow and the sax is awesome! And Dave is... Well, he's just Dave, and Dave just rocks. There are very few songs I don't particularly like, but Lover Lay Down is one of my favorites. It's really easy to listen to and I just like it. Enough said. =)

Reminds me so much of an ex-girlfriend that i'm still having problems thinking of as my ex. Many references remind me so specifically of her. She's not the stable type really, has attempted suicide more than once (not while I've known her), and I'd always hoped that my love would take her pain away (a million reasons life to deny, let's toss them away..). It did, for a short time, but some of those kinds of pain don't heal so easy...not easy to watch either. She got to leading and chasing me around in circles, and she wept as she realized that this love even she thought would last was over. Of course, I did too, as she is a very beautiful person, and I loved her like I've loved no other. But ya know, I took her to her first DMB show at the Cow Palace (SF) in Nov. when things were going or went bad, and she stood around all disgusted and jealous (without cause) and it almost wrecked my show...almost. The show musta had an impact though, cause now she Knows what DMB is really all about. Too much! but let me say that this song, like a lotta Dave's songs, feels like it speaks right to me and how I'm feeling, which connects me to the band (and all of you too!). So yeah, Lover Lay Down's awright.]

I love it and I can play and sing it. That's real cool. Usually I can't match the playing and singing at the same time. Great song. I'm going to sing it to some pretty girl someday.
Phil Butler, tjwatson@flash.net
This song is very calming. It tends to put me at peace. It is a beautiful love song. If you were to put a DMB song on the stereo while with that "certain someone" this would be my 1st pick, then Cry Freedom. It is a perfect description of the begining of a relationship. how everything is good in the begining and no sign of bad comings.

Simply put, this is one Incredible song. Makes you want to go out and kiss and hold the person you love. This song sends a tingle throughout my entire body, no matter how many times in a row I listen to it. It is really one amazing song. Just makes you feel cozy and warm all over.

A moving selection from UTTAD. Unfortunately, the studio cut lacks the emotion and sensitivity of a live performance.

Even though I had first heard heard LLD years ago, I had never discovered what a beautiful and intimate song this is until I heard the 2/1/97 West Point show. WOW! The song is so loving and poetic. It speaks the kind of things that I wish I could say at times. This song is just as great sounding on Under the Table..
Stacie, skifvr@juno.com
This is one of my favorite songs! It's so peaceful and relaxing and it's perfect to listen to right before you go to sleep. I can imagine Dave and a special someone (could I have been her?) in a park on a beautiful Sunday in Charlottesville...it's a beautiful city. This is one of his finest songs!
Jeff, joshjeff@aol.com
Wow! Great song! Very calm, peaceful, relaxing. The kind of song you put on repeat when you go to bed after a long day. Also, very romantic. Dave's quiet, almost whispering voice. There's so much to say, but need I say more?
Matt Hughes, spunkyhugs@aol.com
This song is awesome....one of the all-time best!!

THIS SONG IS THE BOMB!!! I THINK THAT EVERYBODY WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOMEBODY SING THOSE WORDS TO THEM (AND REALLY MEAN THEM)
