This song is great. It is simple but has a great melody. Like other songs, Dave likes to play around with the lyrics, making it tough to sing along. I have heard a couple different versions of Granny but none of them are drastically different. It is a great mellow song that features Dave and a little of Boyd on the background vocals. "Love" is the key word in the song because Dave likes to repeat it about 100 times. If you haven't heard it, you need to. I imagine it will be on the next studio album, along with Help Myself and hopefully True Reflections.
Granny is just all around an awesome song...nice choice!!
This is one of my favorites. I really think it is an amazing song. I do expect to see it on the next album.
never heard it before
"hello, how are you doing today?" I love granny!!!!! the first bootleg i ever got granny was the first song, it totally blew my mind. i was like this is fucking awesome. why the hell isnt it on any of the cd's? and eversince then it is still my favorite song that isnt on a cd.
YES!!!! God, I love this song it's my second ffav DMB tune. It's so simple, yet so complex, and it will make a great single some day! It's just such amzing song live, and I love the way it progresses. It's so much fun to listen to thissong! This song rules without a doubt it will be their biggest hit when the band releases it on their next album. It starts of so calm and cool, it makes you feel good, and then BAAM! the rest of the group joins in. It's the type of song that gets stuck in your head, but you don't ever want it to get unstuck! And it's real cool how Dave always acts so cool and laid back when he plays it he doesn't try to make a big deal out of it or give some big explanation, like he does with TWO STEP or with NANCIES, it's just a song he loves to play. Thanks to Adam Hyman for sending me my first copy of this song!
the best unreleased DMB song I've heard
It is ok. I have heard much better from Matthews
I have never heard of it but I'm sure it is awesome!!
LOVE!!........BABY!! This song is the BEST! When I first heard it I was blown away! It was my first DMB concert and I was flipping out on every song, but when this came on I knew I hadn't heard it before, and it was awesome, so I knew it had to be the song everyone was talking about, Granny! The only bad thing about this song is whenever I get a new bootleg I try to listen to the whole thing without rewinding, but when I hit Granny I have to listen to it over and over! I heard that Dave said it was going to be on their next album, but that was before Under the Table and Dreaming. Like Proudest Monkey said, this, True Reflections and Help Myself will hopefully be on the next album. Maybe Angel From Montgomery, too.
