Guigsy

  • Real Name: Paul McGuigan
  • Date of Birth: May 9, 1971
  • Place of Birth: Manchester, England
  • Band Chores: Bass Guitar
  • He's really a great football(soccer) player.
  • Paul McGuigan was the second member of Oasis and he plays bass guitar for the band. You can really hear his bass playing skills on "Slide Away" and "Some Might Say", but you have to pay attention to hear them well.

Paul(or Guigsy, to his friends) is definitely the quietest member of Oasis. In fact, there aren't really any recorded interviews with him at all. According to Noel, Gigsy is a "pot-smoking hippie wannabe". According to Guigsy, all he does (when not involved in Oasis' business) is watch football and smoke.

The only time Guigsy has been away from the band for an extended period of time was when he caught a case of nervous exhaustion(surprising, isn't it?) right at the start of one of Oasis' American tours. He was replaced for a couple of the gigs in America by the bassist from the band "The Ya-Yas". However, this replacement got homesick after 5 gigs and went home. Oasis had to postpone a couple of their gigs in order to give Guigs time to recouperate. He's been with the band from then on.
