 The new on-board TC-3B pre-amplifier offers to the bass
players state-of-the-art circuitry. Since its conception, everything
was planned in order to build a preamp using the best available
components and characteristics. Below we have listed some of the
reasons for choosing the TC-3B:
- The choice for high performance components: the TC-3B
preamp includes solely high-performance
operational amps. Only
low noise unities were chosen
for the project, providing a silent circuit with a wide dynamic
range, allowing fantastic "attack" and purity for the
sound.
- A careful choice of frequencies for its controls:
after a series of fine tuning procedures following the suggestions
of several high-profile musicians who helped us to develop the
product, we have reached a final result that might be considered
perfect:
- The bass control provides +/-19dB of cut/boost
and its frequency of maximum actuation is set between the E and the B of the
bass guitar, meaning a very low frequency action range. This
mentioned range was only possible by the use of circuitry with a
large capability of current on its output, allowing all such
energy to be released without any distortion. The action frequency
chosen also allows a very clear sound with high definition on low
notes, even when the maximum boost is selected. On each position
of the bass control the sound is full, clear, defined and musical.
- The mid control works in a wide range comprising from
the mid-lows to the beginning of the treble frequencies. Its
central frequency is 650Hz with a cut/boost rate of
+/-12dB. That provides endless options of equalization, making
the bass guitar sound present without any kind of harshness.

- The treble control also provides a wide action level
with a cut/boost range of +/-18dB. Its frequency action is
externally selectable, allowing 2 options: a
more "hi-fi"
option (7kHz)
destined to bass players who prefer a hi-tech sound, or a lower
action (4.5kHz) for a bigger presence on the treble notes.
In both cases, a wide range of tone-shaping
possibilities can be achieved for
the sound without ever reaching a "brittle"
result.
- All controls feature a center click and
in such
position a flat sound is obtained, without adding any equalization
to the instrument’s sound.
- Easy and simple installation requiring only basic care
and connections. As the circuitry is totally protected the risk of
short circuits or damages is reduced to a minimum.

- High fidelity sound: the TC-3B was projected to allow extreme
fidelity and musicality to the sound of the instrument. Aiming
that, we use first order filters incurring in a low change in
the input signal phase and allowing smoother equalization
curves. In terms of sound, this can be translated into a more
musical circuit even when used within extreme levels of
equalization and output gain.
- 9V or 18V power: depending on the output level provided
by the chosen pickups the 18V option can be used, which allows a
higher output level and a very high headroom without any
possibilities of distortion.
- The TC-3B preamp is the original choice of D’Alegria Custom
Made basses and guitars for their models. Its quality is
equivalent to the very best available in the market in terms of
on-board preamps.
