The front-row, section C (right in front of Tay) ticket my friend Andrea
gave me for my birthday!
Well hello hello hello! From the simple fact that you are on this page, it would lead me to deduce that you want to know what happened in front row at the York Fair Hanson concert. Well, you are in luck, because I was there, and I'm going to tell you all about it. First of all, I got to the fairgrounds at 10a.m. when the gates opened, and I was there all day. I just wandered around and hung out until about 1p.m. when I went out to my car to get the signs I had made for the concert. (There were 4 of them: "REAL FANS DON'T ATTACK", "BLOND GUYS RULE", "JESUS LOVES YOU - TELL THEM" [w/ arrows pointing either way], and "DRUMMERS KICK BUTT - I AM 1!") I am proud to say I was the first one at the gate, but I was quickly joined by others, one of which was the girl I ended up hanging out with before and after the concert, because she was also by herself. We hung out at the gate and talked for an hour or two, and then she got up and left for a little while. I learned that my new friend was quite good at locating the point of entrance at concerts when she came back and got me, and we went to back behind the concert arena to where the buses and limo (for Hanson and No Authority respectively) were to arrive. Hanson's buses arrived first, but late, only a little bit before the gates opened. Then they just sat in their bus forever, and I insulted them and everyone else thought I was nuts. Not that I could argue. No Authority's limo arrived from the airport just a little later, and they got out and shook hands with the fans for a little while, but since they were late they had to go in pretty quick. Finally, Hanson decided to make their grand appearance. Isaac got out first, and waved to us a few times while he was walking in. I thought he seemed very sweet, and I immediately developed a thing for Ike which I have never had before! ;) Zac got out next, and he for the most part ignored us, but he did stop partway to the door backstage, talking to someone in his entourage, and he turned to face us. (Unfortunately I couldn't get the camera ready fast enough to snap a pic before he turned back around!) Now Taylor, he was an entirely different story. He was afraid to get out of the bus because of what had happened in San Fran, and they had to pull up closer and have him switch off buses or something because he didn't want to be seen. I could see where that would happen, since York Fair security is horrible, and the barriers sucked, but it was really sad since all the fans were so well behaved it surprised even me, being a fan myself. So after they got out of the bus and went inside, I decided to go into the arena - the gates had opened several minutes before I went back. The story is now officially boring until the concert starts. Okay, so I sit there for an hour or so, and then the concert starts. No Authority was first, and they rocked. I got some REALLY good pics of them, hehe. (Esp. since Danny laid down on the stage RIGHT in front of me!) Then Hanson's opening act, Neve, came out. They were pretty good, but I thought their set was too long considering that No Authority made a guest appearance... and what we really wanted to see was Hanson. But we went crazy for them anyways, and the guitarist that was in front of Sec. C was hilarious, so he made things interesting. THEN... was Hanson! Everyone was saying that most of the people at the concert were there to see No Authority, but let me tell you: when Hanson came out on stage, the place went NUTS! Definitely more so than it had for NA. (No offense to those guys, cuz I love 'em to death, but that's just how I heard it!) So... they opened their set with "You Never Know", but I couldn't tell you where it went from there. They did the large majority of the "TTA" songs, a few "MON" songs, and a couple of songs that were not theirs. One I didn't recognize, but the other one was "Magic Carpet Ride" (and I love that song so I was thrilled - that one was in the encore). Oh, they did "In the City", and Tay was shaking (or more like brushing) hands in my section, but I got freakin' bumped off the rail by little second row people (me and one other girl, and we were just like, whatever, they're obviously more obsessed so we'll let them get off on it). I'm fairly certain I caught Tay's glance a few times, but that's very understandable since I was right in front of him... but his glances didn't rest long, so it's hard to be sure. However, Zac.... now he was interesting. LOL. This is my high point in the concert, it was so cute and funny. You'll recall my sign "DRUMMERS KICK BUTT - I AM 1!" from the beginning. Well, keep that sign in mind, it plays a vital role in my story. When they came out to do the encore, the first song they did was "Song to Sing". And since only Tay plays on that one, Ike and Zac sit at the front of the stage and they can look out over the audience while they sing. Everyone around me was trying to get Zac's attention, screaming his name over.... and over.... and over. And he didn't look. I was like, what a freak. So I yelled "Zachary" really loud, I mean, I didn't know my voice held that capacity of volume. He immediately glanced over with a startled look on his face. So, while I had his attention, I held my sign up. He looked like he was straining to read it, then he looked down at me and smiled his adorable smile. And he stopped singing. I busted up. I was standin' there laughin' at him, and his smile just got bigger. IT WAS SO CUTE! I hadn't realized I was that distracting, LOL. So after that I had his attention, and he kept glancing at me through the rest of the song. The cool thing was that this other girl I gave my e-mail address to before the concert e-mailed me afterwards, and he was apparently lookin' at her too. I was like, yes, we are the women. Hehe. So. The concert ended at 11-something, I don't know exactly, but I got lost in York on the way home so I didn't get home until about 12:30a.m. But it was definitely worth it!
(Oh yeah, one more thing I forgot. At one point in the concert, Tay picked up a stuffed animal someone had thrown up on stage and kinda held it up and smiled. I thought that was really sweet for whoever threw it up there. And it more than makes up for his lack of appearance before the concert! My final conclusion: those guys are the ultimate sweethearts, and they have once again proven it at this concert!)
