I went to the MATCHBOX20 concert at Enmore theatre, on a Tuesday night
21st April 1998. However, my experience does not begin from there...
Monday night was the first concert. I forced my bf to drive me to
Enmore theatre becasue I wanted to buy a mb20 tshirt, in order for me
to wear it on the Tuesday night. So, we drove to Enmore and I
purchased the tshirt. We drove around to the back lane of the theatre,
where the exit is situated. I told my bf and his friend that we should
hang around, incase we happen to see Rob and the guys leave! Their
toyota tarago vans were visible, so I was sure we were gonna see them!
After a few mins, the concert had ended and a few girls were beginnin
to come around to the back. I stayed seated in my car. I was listenin
to the mb20 cd. Lucky I had the cd cover in my car too. All of a
sudden I hear girls start to scream and carru on. Whoo-hoo I thought
as I jumped outta my car seat and ran toward the vans and ROB. I had
the cd cover clutched under my arm, as I was tryin to weave and squirm
my way thru all the girls! I managed to squeeze my way to the front of
the girls and I leaned over the vans bonet and stretched my arms and
cd cover out infront of ROB. He gladly took it and signed it!
WHoo-hoo, I was so excited by this stage but for some reason I wasnt
yelling and carying on like all the people aroundme! Then I saw Adam
standing at the opposite end, so I went up to him and he signed my cd
cover too. Now, I have a cd cover w/ Rob and Adams autograph! The fun
didnt end there... I made my bf follow their vans. So, after the fans
left, we followed their vans from the back of the enmore theatre to
the subrub of Kings Cross. They stopped infront of an exclusive hotel,
and my bf double parked on the opposite side of the road. I ran outta
the car just as ROB was walkin up the steps to the hotel entrance. I
approached ROB and muttered a few words, to the sound of "Would you be
able to sign my tshirt?". He said something like "Sure", and I cant
quite remember what else, coz I was in a daze! As he was signin my
tshirt, I told him Im lookin forward to the tuesday concert! I said
"thanks" and left! I couldnt believe it! The whole next day at uni I
was telline veryone about my expereience. Friends couldnt believe how
I went about meetin ROB! But altho I had an autographed cd cover and
tshirt, that wasnt enuf for me>>I wanted a picture!...This is where my
tuesday night experience comes into effect. After an awesome concert
and toward the end of their show, I threw a lil koala bear onstage for
Rob and the guys. At the end of the concert ROB picked it up off from
the amp and lifted it in the air as he waved! WHoo-hoo...I had tickets
right at the front on the dance floor and I got to the theatre extra
early so I was right at the front! Kyle was virtually bending down and
leaning over us! So, after the concert, instead of followin the guys,
we just went straight to the hotel! LOL...That was funny. We waited in
the rain on the street for the vans to show up. When they finally did,
we greeted Rob on the sidewalk! I asked if he could take a pic with my
bf and friend and he happily agreed. I told him I was the girl who
came on the previous night to get the shirt signed, and I also told
him I threw him the koala bear! And he said, "yeh, I remember"!!!
Wow!!!! I was excited..Anyway, there were a couple of men around also,
who offered Rob a smoke and a "crown" (beer). So as he was drinkin and
smokin my friend was askin him questions such as; thoughts on a next
album or if they have backstage passes! Rob also gladly signed my
concert ticket and just a piece of paper> in which he wrote his name
and a cute smiley face! The few mins we spent outside the hotel with
ROB flew by. I'd just have to say that ROB is the most friendliest and
down to earth, best lookin guy ever! And Im glad I made the most out
of meeting ROB! Whoo-hoo, cant wait till their OCTOBER 29TH SHOW! ROCK
ON!!
