The History Of Aerosmith

This is the history of Aerosmith as I know it.

1964
  - Steven Tallarico joins Chain Reaction as a drummer in Sunapee New Hampshire

1966
  - Chain Reaction records two singles "The Sun/When I needed You" and "You
      Should Have Been Here Yesterday/Ever Lovin' Man"

1969
  - Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton form the Jam Band
  - Chain Reaction opens for bands sucg as The Byrds, The Beach Boys, and the
      Yardbrids
  - Steven Tallarico sees the Jam Band perform and loved their style

1970
  - Steven Tallarico, Joe Perry, and Tom Hamilton form their own band
  - Ray Tabano was added as a second guitarist
  - Joey Kramer was added as a drummer to allow Steven Tallarico to become
      just the lead singer

1971
  - Guitarist Ray Tabano leaves and is replaced by Brad Whitford of Earth Inc.
  - The newly formed Aerosmith moves to Boston and plays at clubs, high
      schools, and colleges in the Massachusetts and New York area

1972
  - Steven Tallarico changes his name to Steven Tyler
  - While playing at a club in New York called Max's Kansas City, Clive Davis
      who signed them up for a record deal with Columbia Records
  - Aerosmith enters the studio and records their first album aptly titled
      Aerosmith

1973
  - The album Aerosmith is released
  - Aerosith tours opening for bands such as Hawkwind, The Kinks, Mahavishnu
      Orchestra, Mott The Hoople, and Sha Na Na
  - Aerosmith gains popularity in the Boston area
  - "Dream On"/"Somebody" is released as a single

1974
  - Get Your Wings is finished and released
  - "Same Old Song And Dance"/"Pandora's Box" is released as a single
  - Aerosmith tours some more
  - "Train Kept A Rollin'"/"Spaced" is released as a single

1975
  - "S.O.S.(Too Bad)"/"Spaced" is released as a single
  - Toys In The Attic is recorded and released
  - "Sweet Emotion"/"Uncle Salty", "Walk This Way"/"Round And Round", and "You
      See Me Crying"/"Toys In The Attic" are relased as singles
  - Aerosmith tours heavily and starts to headline concerts

1976
  - Rocks is recorded and released
  - Aerosmith tours some more
  - "Last Child"/"Combination", "Home Tonight"/"Pandora's Box", "Walk This
      Way"/"Uncle Salty", and "Dream On"/"Sweet Emotion" are released as 
      singles

1977
  - Aerosmith tours in Japan for the first time
  - "Back In The Saddle"/"Nobody's Fault" is released as a single
  - Joey Kramer crashes his car one night on his way back from the studio, he
      was fine
  - Aerosmith tours in Europe for the second time
  - "Draw The Line" is released as a single
  - Draw The Line the album is released two months later
  - Aerosmith goes on tour again

1978
  - Songs recorded as Aerosmith plays at Boston's Paradise for Live! Bootleg
  - Aerosmith appears in Robert Stigwood's "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club
      Band"
  - Live! Bootleg is released

1979
  - Aerosmith takes a break from touring and releases Night In The Ruts
  - Joe Perry had left Aerosmith to form "The Joe Perry Project" by the time
      Night In The Ruts was released
  - Jimmy Crespo of Flame replaces Joe Perry on lead guitar
  - The new Aerosmith goes on tour

1980
  - Greatest Hits is released
  - The Joe Perry Project releases Let The Music Do The Talking

1981
  - Steven Tyler spends much of the year recovering from a motorcycle accident
      that severed his heel
  - Brad Whitford leaves Aerosmith and joins Derek St. Holmes to release an
      album together
  - Rick Dufay replaces Brad Whitfrod
  - The Joe Perry Project releases I've Got The Rock 'n' Rolls Again 

1982-1983
  - The new Aerosmith releases Rock In A Hard Place
  - Aerosmith tours again
  - The Joe Perry Project releases Once A Rocker, Always A Rocker
  - Brad Whitford plays with Joe Perry at some of his shows

1984
  - Joe Perry and Brad Whitford rejoin Aerosmith
  - Aerosmith goes on their "Back In The Saddle" tour
  - Not far into the tour, Steven Tyler collapses on stage, proving the band's
      drug and alcohol addiction had not been beat yet

1985
  - Done With Mirrors is released with Geffen records
  - Steven Tyler and Joe Perry complete a drug rehabilitation program
  - Aerosmith tours again

1986
  - Columbia Records released Classics Live!
  - Run-DMC released their version of Walk This Way, and Steven Tyler and Joe
      Perry appeared in the video

1987
  - Teaming up with Bruce Fairbairn and relaesed Permanent Vacation
  - Aerosmith tours some more
  - Manager Tim Collins got Aerosmith to finally kick their drug habit for good
  - Columbia Records releases Classics Live! II

1988
  - Columbia Records releases Gems

1989
  - Pump is released under Geffen Records
  - Aerosmith tours some more
  - The Making Of Pump video tape is released
  - Things That Go Pump In The Night video tape is released

1991
  - Pandora's Box, a three disc box set is released by Columbia Records
  - Aerosmith is on The Simpsons
  - Aerosmith is inducted into The Boston Garden Hall of Fame

1993
  - Get A Grip is released under Geffen Records
  - Sony/Columbia Records releases Box Of Fire, a twelve disc box set of all
      of Columbia's previously released Aerosmith albums

1994
  - Aerosmith performs at Woodstock '94
  - Geffen Records releases Big Ones  
  - Aerosmith tours for Get A Grip
  - Aerosmith honored at the People's Choice Awards
  - Aerosmith honored at the American Music Awards
  - Aerosmith stars in the video game Revolution X
  - Aerosmith becomes the first major rock group to release a song, called
      Head First, exclusively on a computer online service

1995
  - Joey Kramer goes into clinical depression resuliting from his father's
      death, what he calls his "Big Blue Funk"
  - Aerosmith leaves Geffen Records and returns to Columbia Records

1996
  - Manager Tim Collins is fired for spreading false rumors that Steven Tyler
      was doing drugs again
  - Glen Ballard is hired
  - Joey Kramer spends two and a half months in a California facility
      recovering from post-traumatic stress disorder caused by the physical
      abuse of his father among other things
  - Glen Ballard did not produce the sound that Aerosmith was looking for, so
      Kevin Shirley replaces him
  - Joey Kramer returns Aerosmith stronger than ever

1997
  - Aerosmith releases Nine Lives
  - Aerosmith releases Made In America, which was sold only in Wal Mart for a
      limited time
  - Aerosmith changes the Nine Lives album cover because the original was
      offending the Hindu community, Aerosmith was unaware that the picture
      was sacred to Hindus so rather than offend anyone, the cover was changed
      and Aerosmith apologized to all that they may have accidentally offended
  - Aerosmith goes on tour

1998
  - While on tour for Nine Lives in Alaska, Steven Tyler accidentally hit
      himself with the base of his microphone stand causing him to fall
      ackwardly and tear his anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)
  - Tour dates were post-poned to allow Tyler to heal
  - Aerosmith releases two new songs, "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" and "What
      Kind Of Love Are You On," on the Armageddon soundtrack, and "I Don't
      Want To Miss A Thing quickly goes to number one on the charts
  - Joey Kramer's Ferrari caught on fire while he was filling it with gas,
      burning Kramer
  - Tour dates were post-poned to allow Kramer to heal.
  - Aerosmith wins Best Rock Video for "Pink" and Best Video From A Film
      for "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" from "Armageddon" at the MTV Music
      Video Awards
  - Joe Perry appeared in the TV show Homicide
  - Aerosmith releases A Little South Of Sanity
  - Aerosmith goes on tour

1999
  - Aerosmith was able to raise 90,000 pounds of food for their New Years Eve
      concert to be donated to the Greater Boston Food Bank
  - Aerosmith pulled their backing from the Boston club Mama Kin and sold
      their interests to the club's co-owners the Lyons Group due to differing
      visions of booking policy
  - Aerosmith wins the Favorite Band, Duo, or Group category at the American
      Music Awards
  - Aerosmith recieved the Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal
      Grammy for Pink
  - Steven Tyler played the part of a record producer named David Foster in
      the movie Clubland
  - At the Kahlua Boston Music Awards Aerosmith won Best Video for I Don't
      Want To Miss A Thing and Steven Tyler won the award for Best Male
      Vocalist
  - Aerosmith visited some of the Columbine High School victims
  - Aerosmith has the best love song of 1999 at the Teen Choice Awards for I
      Don't Want To Miss A Thing
  - The Best of Joe Perry Project is released
  - Joey Kramer released a drumming video titled It's About Time
  - Aerosmith won the Artist Achievement Award at the Billboard Awards

2000
  - Aerosmith Set a Guinness Record for "Highest US Chart Entry by a Rock Act"
  - Steven Tyler is featured on Lit's, "Over My Head," on the soundtrack to
      TITAN AE.
  - Brad Whitford opens F1 Boston, a playground with an indoor kart auto
      racing track
  - Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are featured in World Voice 2000, a spoken-word
      album project of prayers from Pope John Paul II's personal prayer books
  - Aerosmith releases "Angel's Eye" on the Charlie's Angels Soundtrack
  - Aerosmith is featured on a compilation entitled Stoned Immaculate: The 
      Music of the Doors
  - Aerosmith receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the American
      Music Awards

2001
  - Aerosmith play halftime of Super Bowl XXXV with Britney Spears, 'NSync,
      Mary J. Blige, and Nelly
  - Aerosmith are inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame by Kid Rock
  - Aero Force One gets new management
  - Aerosmith play the "United We Stand What More Can I Give; The Concert For
      Washington DC And America" to benefit victims of the 9/11 attacks
  - Aerosmith release "Young Lust: The Aerosmith Anthology" to fulfill their
      contract requirement with Geffen

2002
  - Joe Perry starts selling "Joe Perry's Rock Your World Boneyard Brew Hot
      Sauce"
