  • 5-2: STP will headline this year's FAMILY VALUES TOUR! How cool is that? This news story is from YAHOO! Tuesday May 01 11:47 PM EDT Weiland Says STP Will Headline Family Values Tour By Teri vanHorn With President Bush (news - web sites) in office, perhaps there's no better time for a return of Family Values. The successful hard-rock tour will resurface this fall with Stone Temple Pilots leading the charge, according to the band's frontman. "[Our management] asked everyone in the band if we were into it, and we said yea," Scott Weiland said Friday. "That's what we're going for right now." The trek is slated to run through the United States in October and November. Staind and System of a Down are also in discussions to appear on the bill, Weiland said. "That's the tentative lineup." Publicists for Staind and System said the bands are still hammering out their fall tour plans and have made no firm decisions. Family Values producer John Scher said Monday (April 30) that organizers are not ready to make any announcements regarding the lineup. The Korn-founded Family Values fall tour had successful runs in 1998 and 1999 before taking a breather last year. Organizers cited stiff competition as the reason for the break, including Stone Temple Pilots' Return of the Rock tour with Godsmack. For a time, organizers kicked around the idea of staging the festival in the winter or spring of this year. Family Values' inaugural run in 1998 featured headliners Korn, Limp Bizkit, Rammstein, Orgy and Ice Cube. Limp Bizkit topped the 1999 trek, which featured a varying lineup that included Filter, Staind, the Crystal Method, Run-D.M.C., Mobb Deep and Method Man and Redman. Both were among the most successful tours of their respective years. STP just finished work on their fifth album, Shangri-La Dee Da, due June 19. Songs slated for the LP range from hard-rockers like "Dumb Love," "Long Way Home," and "Transmissions From a Lonely Room," to midtempo pop tunes like "Hello It's Late" and "Samba Nova" and the ballads "Wonderful" and "Noah's Song." Latin influences and experimental arrangements mark several tracks. Shangri-La's first single, the catchy pop-rocker "Days of the Week," will arrive at radio in late May as the band heads to Europe for a two-week tour. "[Days of the Week] has kind of a rock 'n' roll feel of Zeppelin during the Presence period, but melodically and lyrically where I was coming from was an Elvis Costello or Joe Jackson [influence]," Weiland said. Man, this album sounds like their best yet! And I cannot wait until they come to Massachusetts! Also, go to STP's official site and look in the Fan Pictures section... My picture with Scott is in there! *************************************************
  • 4-24: IT'S OFFICIAL! STP'S new album, "Shangru-La Dee Da" will be out on June 19! According to STP's Official Web Site, "This album has an equal balance of hard rockers, mid-tempo pop songs and ballads, a few of which have Latin influences. All the songs were written by STP and produced by their longtime producer Brendan O'Brien. Some songs expected to make the album are "Days of the Week", "Hollywood Bitch", "About a Fool", and "Bipolar Bear". Man...this is gonna be one hell of an album! *************************************************
  • 4-19: STP's 5th coming album is finished! Sorry it wasn't posted the day it was announced, I've been on vacation away from my computer. Here's the story from Yahoo! Saturday April 07 12:17 AM EDT Stone Temple Pilots Finish Recording, Preparing Documentary By Teri vanHorn Stone Temple Pilots will let fans watch them make their fifth album — but don't expect a personal invitation to their rented Malibu home. STP filmed a behind-the-scenes documentary as they recorded the LP in their beach villa-turned-recording studio. "It set out to be like a modern-day 'Let It Be,'" Chapman Baehler, the film's director, said Thursday (April 5), referring to Michael Lindsay-Hogg's 1970 Beatles documentary. The film follows singer Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz through the record-making process, from hammering out songs in preproduction to putting the tunes down on tape. "It's got a lot of really beautiful, moody shots — these art shots with either Dean or Robert playing an old organ in a really beautiful space, to Dean and Scott playing acoustic, to some totally awesome rock-out live stuff in the main recording space," Baehler said. An established rock photographer who has shot STP for years, Baehler was working with the band on a coffee-table book when they approached him about the documentary. The project is Baehler's first venture into filmmaking; all of the footage was shot by him and his sister, Rebecca Baehler. Both the book and the film should be out later this year, he said. STP moved into the Malibu house in January to work on the follow-up to 1999's platinum No. 4. The band is now mixing the album in Atlanta with longtime producer Brendan O'Brien, Baehler said. The always ambitious Weiland said late last year that the band planned to make the recording a double album. Shortly after work got underway, Robert DeLeo said that goal looked realistic. "Scott's in a space right now where we're not cramming to just get a single record done — he's in a space where I think a double record is possible." There was no word at press time about the status of the double-album plans, but a source at the band's label, Atlantic, said the label is hesitant about the idea. *************************************************

  • 1-5-01: Happy Belated New Year! I just moved into a new house from my hometown in East Boston, MASS to Plymouth, MASS... you know, where the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock. Anyways, there's been some big news since I last posted the arrival of Noah Mercer Weiland; STP is in the studio working on the new album. The release date is unknown. Also, the boys are planing on putting out a double-CD of their greatist hits. In addition to their current album workings, Scott Weiland is lending his harmonious vocals to Sugar Ray's new album, "JUST TO BE NOMINATED". The song which he helps out on is currently un-titled. As soon as I get the info, I'll post it! *************************************************
  • 11-22: BABY NOAH HAS BEEN BORN!! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Weiland! Baby Noah Mercer Weiland was born on November 19. Here's the story from YAHOO!: Wednesday November 22 05:00 PM EST Stone Temple Pilots Plus One: Weiland And Wife Have Baby (11/22/00, 5 p.m. ET) - Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland and his wife Mary are th proud parents of a seven-pound, 10-ounce boy named Noah Mercer Weiland. The child measures more than 20 inches long. He was born Sunday (November 19) in Los Angeles. Of the new addition to his family, Weiland said, "It was the most glorious moment in my life. He is healthy, wealthy, and wiser than me." When asked recently if he was prepared for parenthood amid his continuing recovery from drug addiction, Weiland quipped, "Keith Richards has done it. It's kinda like this. I think since we've been out touring, you know, and since the time that I got out of jail, I've been able to juggle what I do onstage and what I do in my private life without dropping the pins. That means being a son to my mother and father, being a friend to these guys [band mates], a brother to my brother, and a husband to my wife." Bassist Robert DeLeo added, "I think Scott's actually doing physically and mentally the best I've ever seen him. If that mean's he's ready for a child, then its the best time." Fans who want to pass along their well wishes are encouraged to post on the band's website or e-mail Weiland through the site. -- Darren Davis, New York and Neal Weiss, Los Angeles *************************************************

  • 9-20: Wednesday September 20 2:35 AM ET Fans Will Get To Shoot STP Video LOS ANGELES (AP) - Fans with video cameras will get to shoot the new Stone Temple Pilots video. Band frontman Scott Weiland says he's had it with music videos, so he's giving fans a shot at the band's new ``No Way Out'' single. ``We had been agonizing over which way to go with the video in terms of direction and were so nauseous over the state of music videos today that we decided we should leave it up to our fans,'' Weiland said. The lead singer added it will be ``the true rock music fans who will have their part in turning back the tide of current Mouseketeer song and dance shame.'' The band will perform ``No Way Out'' for about 400 fans - selected by Los Angeles station KROQ - at the El Rey Theater on Sunday, and the budding directors will be asked to film whatever they choose on a video camera of any kind. The tapes will be collected and viewed, with the most compelling being compiled to make the clip. The director's credit for the video will read: ``The Listeners of KROQ.'' *************************************************

  • 8-11: This news article comes from YAHOO!Entertainment News: Entertainment News - Thursday August 10 11:47 PM EDT DJ Lethal Taps Korn, Sugar Ray, STP Singers For Solo LP By Staff Writer Teri vanHorn reports Korn's Jonathan Davis, Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath and Stone Temple Pilots' Scott Weiland are expected to lend their voices to the upcoming solo debut of Limp Bizkit's DJ Lethal, due in the spring. Also on the album's star-studded guest roster are rappers Eminem, Method Man, Xzibit and Dilated Peoples, as well as Staind singer Aaron Lewis and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, according to Eric Hunter, head of A&R at Geffen Records. "Some of the tracks will gear themselves more toward a hip-hop flavor and some will be more rock-oriented," Hunter said on Thursday (Aug. 10). "Obviously what ties it all together will be Lethal and his unique beats and music." The vocals for the album haven't been recorded, but DJ Lethal has been working on the music sporadically during the past year, in between touring with Limp Bizkit and recording the band's new album, Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, due this fall. "With Limp Bizkit, [Lethal] is often the final element, working his magic over somewhat finished material," Hunter said. "On this album, he is able to create entirely his own material, with the guest artists adding their additional flavor." Well, this sound slike an awesome album. I love STP, I love KoRn, I love Limp Bizkit...I'm definatly gonna get this album as soon as it comes out ! *************************************************
  • 7-30: Well, I SORTA went to the STP show on July 29, but I didn't get in. The show was actually Web-Casted on VH1.com. I actually slept outside OVER NITE at the club where the show was being held and I got to see how they hook up all the equipment for the web cast. I must say, I have a lot more respect for the people who do that stuff because it was a lot of work! Props to the VH1 and STP crew who do that stuff day-in, day-out! I will have an article typed myself and my my pal who slept outside with me, Lisa Simmons. Lisa got into the show, but I didn't. Look for my article within a couple of days. *************************************************
  • 7-18: This past Saturday, STP headlined a one-time-only performance at this year's Tatoo the Earth tour, featuring Coal Chamber, Slipknot (person faves of mine), Slaver, Sevendust, and more, in Portlant Oregon. Too bad they're notadlinging the WHOLE tour cuz I'm going to the Tatoo The Earth festival this Saturday at Sufflok Downs in East Boston. It's gonna be good for 2 reasons: 1. They're wicked-kick ass bands performing, and 2. The venue is 4 blocks from my house in East Boston! This is gonna be one hell of a show! *************************************************
  • 7-15: Hey people. I am re-furnishing this ENTIRE web site within the next week or two. So if you come here and everything look funny, or even if there's nothing here, that's the reason. This site's new name will be: "Lori's Lavish STP Lair". I'm looking forward to it and I hope everybody else out there is too! *************************************************
  • 7-8: This news article comes from Yahoo!Entertainment News: Saturday July 08 06:47 PM EDT Rock Beat: Stone Temple Pilots, Limp Bizkit, Metallica ... Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland posted a note on his band's Web site (www.stonetemplepilots.com) about the progress of Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, the new Limp Bizkit album he is helping to write and produce. "I think that it sounds promising up to this point," he wrote. "There is one song in particular that I think is beautiful that Fred [Durst] and I worked on together. We actually perform together on the song." That's good news that such a great singer/song writer/producer, as Scott is, is helping out Limp Bizkit with their new album. Hey, maybe Scott can teach L.B. how to be more kind to their fans? Anyhow, I have been invited to an invitation-only Stone Temple Pilots concert at the Avalon Ballroom in Boston, MA, which is my hometown. It is scheduled for July 29 and is being sponsored by VH1. I will let you guys know more info. as I get it! *************************************************
  • 7-2: This news article comes from Yahoo!Entertainment News: Friday June 30 03:47 PM EDT Stone Temple Pilots' Weiland And Third Eye Blind's Jenkins Kiss And Make Up (6/30/00, 3 p.m. ET) - Philadelphia's annual FEZ festival, held Wednesday (June 28), featured the Stone Temple Pilots, Third Eye Blind, No Doubt, and Lit; a huge mosh pit, and a torrential downpour. Organized by alternative-rock station Y100 (WYSP), the concert featured three stages and more than 20 acts, but arguably the most memorable moment was a shocking confession by STP singer Scott Weiland. After performing two songs, Weiland told the audience that he forgave Third Eye Blind's Stephan Jenkins for the San Francisco singer's insults and said, "Me and Stephen kissed and made up. You know, he gives good tongue." It was Stone Temple Pilots' first trip back to the Philly area since Weiland's much- publicized drug problems sidelined the band for three years. Jenkins has also supposedly mended fences with Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas, and he told LAUNCH he sees more camaraderie among rock bands these days. "There's something that I'm actually witnessing right now in music that's happening more now," he observes. "I don't know if it's because of the changing stature of us, or if it's because of just a general changing attitude of music. I think it's the latter. We've been doing a bunch of festival shows, and bands have been so supportive of each other. Bands from totally different genres have been out watching each other and getting into what some of the other bands are doing." Case in point: During its set, Third Eye Blind's Jenkins took advantage of his wireless microphone and joined his rain-soaked fans for an impromptu cover of a Violent Femmes track (the Femmes had appeared on the same stage earlier in the afternoon). Jenkins made no mention of healing his rift with Weiland. -- Darren Davis and Chad Dougatz, New York *************************************************
  • 6-28: This news article comes from Yahoo!Entertainment News: Tuesday June 27 03:47 PM EDT Stone Temple Pilots 'Break On Through' To Doors Members (6/27/00, 1 p.m. ET) - Stone Temple Pilots have scored all the perks of being one of the world's hottest bands, including meeting some of the musicians who inspired them. That's what happened when Scott Weiland and the boys recently tracked a version of a Doors song, aided by members of that legendary band. STP bass player Robert DeLeo tells LAUNCH was a highlight of the Pilots' career. "Yeah it was, it was. We have it all documented on video, too. We got asked to contribute to this Doors record and do 'Break On Through.' We found out that Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger were going to come sit in," he said. "Being in a room and actually playing with two members of the Doors is definitely on the list." DeLeo added, "There have been times through my career that I've just really cherished the moment: being in a room with Ozzy [Osbourne] and being at [Aerosmith's] Joe Perry's house and driving around in Steven Tyler's Lotus with him." -- Darren Davis and Chad Dougatz, New York *************************************************
  • 6-23: Sorry for the lack of up-dates. I'm moving this summer to a city south of Boston so I've been busy packing-up and that sorta stuff. On to more important things...STP. They were on "THE VIEW" this morning. They did a brief 3 minute interview and performed Sour Girl, along with violins, chellos and the like. It was a great set-up, if I do say so myself. Also, this comes from Yahoo! news: Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland has recorded about 10 songs that may land on another solo album someday, but it won't be anytime soon. "I've sort of stockpiled them ... but I don't see [a solo record] as anything that's in the near future because all my musical energy is focused on STP," the singer said recently. Weiland released his solo debut, 12 Bar Blues, in 1998, while STP were on hiatus... *************************************************

I am working on my review and I'll be putting up a buncha pics of the show hopefully by the end of this week. So keep your eyes on the prowl for them. I wanna thank STP for getting back together and putting on an incredibly awesome, forgetable show last nite. You guys rock! *************************************************

AND, for those who will be going to see STP perform at this year's WBCN River Rave, here's the set-times: Personally, I think that Cypress Hill SHOULD NOT be headlining this year's WBCN River Rave.
