"Deep Inside Of You"
Words and Music by NEIL DIAMOND
and BETH NIELSEN CHAPMAN
On the morning of February 16, 1996, Neil appeared on Good Morning America. Host Charles Gibson introduced him by saying he had sold more than 110 million records, and that he had just completed his first album rooted in country. Mr. Gibson then said Neil had just spent the last year living in Nashville where he had recorded the Tennessee Moon album and TV special. | |
Neil told Mr. Gibson he would be starting a world tour in March that would begin in Australia and end in the United States in the summer and fall. |
The host then told Neil that someone on the show's staff had commented that after the tour, Neil would probably be sitting down and figuring out what to do with the rest of his life. Neil replied he would probably take two weeks off and get back into his music! |
|
Mr. Gibson then asked Neil if
he ever thought he might do something different now, as he has nothing
else to prove.
"This is what I do. This is what I get the most joy from" was Neil's reply. He said "Music is the thing that carries you; that's why I'm still around." |
|
|
Neil then sang an absolutely gorgeous arrangement of "a beautiful little thing written with Beth Nielsen Chapman" called "Deep Inside Of You" with Linda Press. Alan Lindgren accompanied on the piano, and Rob Hajacos on "this beautiful fiddle" as Neil put it. Neil ended the song by winking at Linda! |

Good morning. |
|
I need you beside me; |
Without you beside me, |
