Hello. My name is John. I am a College Junior from central Pennsylvania. One of my major interests right now is the American Civil War. Follow the link below to take you to my Civil War page. What began as a humble attempt to see if I could establish a site has really progressed. Running the site has been an excellent project, and I enjoy being able to give out my own URL!
I am attending college at Penn State this year, and majoring in Elementry Education.
In my spare time, I like listening to classic rock music. (Fleetwood Mac, the Eagels, Lynard Skynard, Pink Floyd, etc.) I have also been a Civil War Re-enactor since February of 1999. I am a member of the 13th Virginia Volunteers, Co. I. Reenacting is a wonderful and fun hobby to be involved with.
I would like to take this opportunity to address my decision to join a Confederate Regiment. Many people feel the Confederacy represents slavery, racism, and hate. Perhaps there are some who do feel this way, but I feel the men that took up arms for the South were very brave. In a similar way to that in which the Colonial Army went to War with Britain, a far numerically superior force, during the War for Independence. The people of the South fought against a seemingly unbeatable force, and proved themselves time and time again, battle after battle. Eventually, the overwhelming numbers of the Union combined with the Superb leadership of General Grant and the tactics of General Sherman won the War. I also do not wish the nation was split now. I am glad that the Union prevailed in the end, but I feel the brave men who fought for the Confederacy should rightfully be remembered as brave heros and not hateful slave holders.
You are the to visit this page! Congratualtions!
