Here are the reviews from some lucky Suedelots who managed to catch up with the lovely boys of London...
Richard Oakes really was shy when I met him but he was also very, very nice. I talked to him a bit and some girl took a picture of me and him together. I didn't know that girl, but she promised me that she'll send it to me. Never did and I don't understand why! Anyway, Richard was sorry that he "was sweaty" and I really didn't mind. I'm not Suede groupe and I don't scream when I see them, but he really is cute. Maybe he isn't the most beautiful guy in the world, but when you see him it's easy to fall in love. It's just something I can't explain. He is the only one in the band that he this kind of energy.
Matt, the bass player was chasing the girls. Somehow I didn't feel like talking to him and I didn't want to be one of his groupies. Although, believe me, anyone who wanted could have gotten him that night (and he could....of course). He just wasn't interesting.
Brett was sooooo cool that I was even afraid to talk to him. He is very good looking. Special beauty. Then I was thinking, what if I don't get the chance to talk to him ever again? So, I forced myself to go up to him and ask him anything. I don't regret it. He was very nice and he gave me a compliment.(Great for my ego) I asked him what influenced him to write some songs and he told me. I hope it's true.
Simon was the nicest one. Everyone felt very comfortable talking to him. He hung out with us even before the show has started. He drunk beer with us and we chatted. It wasn't only me talking to him. Bunch of other people too.
Neil didn't show up, but during the concert I was on his side in the first row, what almost killed me, and I was staring at him all the time. I just wanted to make him uncomfortable. And I think I did was pretty good at it. It was just fun.
To put it in the nutshell, it was one of the nights in my life that I won't forget. They are great. When I went to see them I didn't even had a ticket and by the end of the evening I was backstage talking to them. I had fake pass. Security
is so stupid. O.K. enough! I can't write no more.

I receive the french suede fanzine( I got all the issues!!).This fanzine is called MOVING...It less "de luxe" than the English one but it's really much more funny!!! So in this Zine they use to putting a photo of" Mat making faces"( and some of Brett) in every issues!! And some mat's faces are really funny!!! They call him "Mat the clown". And there is this story: one member of the French fan-club called Fabien(who's got a real Brett resemblence and is very funny and make imitation of brett, Justine...etc) was at a gig with a Blond wig in his bag and then he was putiing it on his head and Mat stole the wig and put it on
his Head!!!!Do you imagine!!! He was playing very seriously and everybody was laughing . and Brett didn't understand what was happen because he didn't notice that mat had long blond hair now.So brett was keeping singing and dancing...and stay paralized when he saw Mat...and started laughing so much
that he didn't manage to end the song!!!

I ACTUALLY MET THE BAND LAST APRIL AT THEIR AFTER SHOW PARTY. THE ONLY REASON I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO MEET THEM WAS BECAUSE MY OLDER SISTER (SONIA) WHO IS ALSO A DEEP SUEDE FAN GOT ILL WITH CANCER, AND WHEN SHE WAS REALLY UNWELL THERE IS AN
ORGANISATION CALLED DIEL A DREAM, THIS WAS HER SORT OF LAST WISH, TO MEET THE BAND, SHE TOOK ME WITH HER!!! BY THE WAY MY SISTER IS OK NOW SHE ACTUALLY PULLED THROUGH IT AL NAD NOW SHE IS IN REMISSION (THANKFULLY). BRETT WAS REALLY SWEET, I THOUGHT HE WOULD BE REALLY UP HIMSELF BUT I WAS HAPPY TO SEE THAT HE WAS NORMAL!!! HIS CAT'S NAME IS FLUFFINGTON!!! HE WAS SO SWEET HE SAT DOWN AT OUR TABLE AND CHATTED FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, I COULDN'T BELIEVE HE WAS SITTING INFRONT OF ME,
MY SISTER WAS REALLY LUCKY AS HE GAVE HER A DRINK,( SHE STILL HAS THE GLASS). I SOUND REALLY SAD BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT I TOOK HIS WINE GLASS WHEN WE WENT!!!!

It is long overdue!! suede took many years to reach our shores. We the fans were totally awed. Like the shows elsewhere, the Sex Pistols tapes were rolling, and the violin intro of 'she' introduced the band!
Brett came on with a nice haircut! and performed an awesome set which had the fans screaming for more and more!! Halfway through the set Brett did try to introduce the band though. They played all the songs from 'coming up'; 'the wild ones', 'new generation', 'animal nitrate', 'the 2 of us' n 'so young'. Most of the younger fans here don't know suede's earlier tunes. But I wished they had played more of their old hits like 'we are the pigs', 'the power', 'the drowners', and 'the asphalt world'. Nonetheless it was a swell performance!! Brett certainly oozes sex appeal in his very short t-shirt showing off his midriff.
Neil played guitars on 'the chemistry between us' too, and Richard played keyboards on 'the 2 of us'. The closing song was 'no feelings' by the sex pistols.
The band was great, and who says there are no suedeheads in Singapore?? Come again suede, we want more!!

We've met all the band during a summer festival in France (saint malo) in 1996...It was really so great to chat with them... we were waiting for the gig sitting on the grass and they come ...so nice!!! And BRETT come and KISS ME...YEAH! it was a bit "itching" because he haven't shave!!! and the problem was that a lot of girls (and several "boys") wanted to kill me after
because they were jealous...what a stress! It was the worse time of my life!!!Even MY friend, Virgine refused to speak to me for one hour!!!!!!! So the consequences were a bit embarrassing!!!!!!!!! and Richard was so kweel,so funny(making jokes),so so friendly.I really like Richard....he's definitively the kinder and the nicer person of the band ...and brett, of course is the most attractive. This day Neil was horrible(but hit was his first gig so maybe he was stressed)so arrogant.Mat was strange. As for Simon I dunno because I haven't speak with him.

I just went for a Suede gig on Friday 7th of march!!!! This is all so unbelievable !!!!! My god they are so damn good.....it was held at singapore's harbour pavillion...all the free standing tickets and seating seats are all sold out.......they started off at 8.15pm and the first song drove all of us crazy,....it was "she"!!!!! It started with the orchestra like of she and then here comes Brett!!!!!! He wore a black v neck shirt and plain black jeans he just looked great....Richard, Brett and Neil cut their hair short....no more fringe for Brett.Short fringe............Neil looked ugly though........the moshing started and when the second song 'Trash' started I was on the floor squashed by people! I couldn't get up but managed to do so at the end of the song. Brett was so friendly!!!! He smiled at us and said thanks lots of times!!!! I could see that he was really happy!!!! There was once when he stopped and couldn't carry on coz he was too happy about the fact that the response was so good.!!!!!!
I cried man, I did, he's the best...they sang the old songs like 'animal nitrate' and 'the 2 of us' where he held up his hand and peace me audience!! He sang 'new generation' (my all time fav), he sang all the songs from 'Coming Up' and the last one was 'beautiful ones' when everyone just went mad!!!!! In total I fell down four times, the sole of my doctor martens came out but I was glad!!! Everyone was so so so happy...it was a terrific night..........it was a 2 hours solid gig!
Wow!! Matt Osman was so tall!!! He just stood up !wow giant!!! we encored 3 times and they came out ...they are so happy too.....it was words beyond description..........they sang 'filmstar' , and 'wild ones' wow it was damn good!!!! The really last song was a punk song...Brett said it's not a really a good song but anyway we will play it for u guys!!! Well as usual we went mad....Brett 's faggots fans at one corner were shouting "we love u Brett"!!!! He swung the microphone and then in the next moment he held the microphone and sang with perfect timing!!! Richard Oakes was great his skills are really good. Brett did his famous clapping shaking his butt and his jeans fell a bit and we saw the perfect butt! He just has this great figure..god he's awesome.

It was 7th of March,1997...4 days before my 13th Birthday...The $47 ticket was my birthday treat by my mother...The concert was stated to be start at 8pm, and I reached HARBOUR PAVILION at 7:20pm...I had a HARD and LONG time looking for the god damn ENTRANCE!!! I finally found IT (the entrance) and went inside. When I was inside, there was a small stall selling SUEDE concert T-shirts and Poster books. I managed to scrape up the last of my $25 to buy a Medium sized BLACK T-shirt .I wanted to buy the poster book too, but I was short of cash.(The goddamn Poster book was $17!) Anyway, I didn't know a S**T about SUEDE before the concert...I only knew the lead singer was Brett Anderson and I also thought that he looked like @$$.Well, EVERY opinion I had made of SUEDE changed after watching the concert... The reason I decided to go to SUEDE's concert is that I have not been to ANY concerts of ANY bands before, so as SUEDE was coming to S'pore (BEAUTIFUL timing), I decided to check them out instead of some HORRIBLE band called 'michael learns to rock'.
At 8:15pm, the VERY,VERY COOL intro of "SHE" played LOUD on the sound system.I didn't know ANY of SUEDE's songs then, but I still thought the intro was very cool...Simon Gilbert started with the drums...followed by Richard Oakes and his guitar...AND TA~TA~...SEXY BRETTY BABY walked out from back stage with Neil Codling following behind...As the sound system was not too good, I could only hear the violins and Simon's drums. I couldn't really catch what Brett was mumbling. I definitely saw Brett signalling to backstage crews about the terrible sound system. Brett also adjusted his mic stand which was kinda "TOO-SHORT" for him. I couldn't get the tix for free standings right in front of the stage, but I managed to get ticket for the very first row. Anyway, nobody was sitting down during the whole concert. When Brett first walked out, the smoke machine was fuming furiously...Which provided a very cool effect. I also noticed that Brett had a new hair-cut the moment he stepped out. And I instantly got SO,VERY attracted to SEXY BRETT! He was wearing a tight black T-shirt with a pair of black flare jeans. Simon, Neil, Mat and Richard were also wearing all-black. I thought it was some kind of an attitude at first. During the 1-and-a-half-hour concert, I noticed many "surprising" things. Firstly, BRETTY BABY's "infamous" mic-swinging (which I didn't knew was THAT famous), hip-shaking, clapping, pointing his fingers towards the sky, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST....HE THREW DOWN DOZENS OF THINGS!!! To name a few, his white towel, his water bottle, some kind of a instrument and HIS OWN SHOES!!! Unluckily...he didn't threw them to my side...*sob* Richard and Neil threw down stuffs too...But I didn't bother... I recognized the song "THE BEAUTIFUL ONES" which Brett said that it was gonna be the last song for the concert. I thought he was kidding! LAST SONG? SO FAST? Anyway, they REALLY went back stage after the so-called "LAST SONG". The audience was incredible...They screamed and shouted for more...And finally...They came out again...They sang 2 more songs and went in again...And as the audiences' response was GREAT, SUEDE came out again and sang 2 more songs and this time, REALLY went back for good. Are they trying to play some kind of a game with the audience? That's what I wondered after the 2nd encore, as I had ABSOLUTELY no other experiences of HUGE concerts before. Brett was kinda friendly too, he said : "HELLO SINGAPORE","ONE OF THE GREATEST AUDIENCES WE'VE EVER HAD" etc... TOTALLY none of the "POUTY BIG-STAR" I had expected. Brett also requested us to thank Neil, Mat, Simon and Richard. I liked Brett's accent very much. Very cute. Half-way during the concert, Brett came over quite close to me and gave me a stare for a long time. It is no joke! I dunno if it was a stare ot a glare...Or a look of appreciation, because he came over right after I was waving my "SUEDE" concert T-shirt madly in front of myself. I was also surprised at how "FLEXIBLE" Brett's hips were...You know what I mean...It was also VERY sexy of Brett, revealing his white belly and back...*drool*
Before and after the concert, there was a TV crew waiting for some of the really "NUT" fans. For one thing, I remember that they interviewed 3 crazy gals before the concert. The 3 American gals were totally "CRAZY" in a sense that they danced and jumped like HELL (even before the concert)! After the concert, more TV crew came and they interviewed more people...too bad I was not one of those "LUCKY" ones. Oh! I forgot to add one more thing...You see....There were another 3 American gals...They were not those who jumped and danced like hell, but they were also REALLY crazy...They were standing behind me, and guess what they screamed to (MY) BRETTY BABY! They screamed:"FUCK US BRETT!FUCK US!!!" Ewwww.....How horrible...I'm sure they are NOT virgins...
Well, I guess this is the end...Hope you liked the review...Sorry that it is NOT in proper order. Anyway, I have to reckon that I am a VERY NEW fan of SUEDE and of course...BRIT-INDIE! I'm joining the Suede fan club very soon.
