Pros and Cons of Being A Fan
Opinionated Facts (Somethings you just can't help...)
There's many situations in which you're either glad/happy/excited/etc to be a fan of something or someone. And yet there's also situations in which you are NOT so happy so be a fan... It happens for everything.
In my case...five fellas called Backstreet Boys.
Here's a couple CONS of being a Backstreet fan...
The obsessies and teenyboppers who SCREAM their friggin' heads off and dream about marrying Nick/Brian/Kevin/AJ/Howie and having their children. HA! Hello? They have girlfriends, live with it! Plotting to kill Leighanne or Amanda or Mandy won't help any! Just leave them be!
All the teenybopper fans that are friends of yours expect you to spend ALL your free money on the Boys' merchandise. Not gonna happen. Thats our own decision to spend money on them, just not EVERY damn cent!
All the anti-Backstreet people out there. They just won't give up on bugging us that are fans. They try to "convert" us, or make us "see the light" and realize that the Boys "suck", but it ain't gonna work either! We like what we wanna like, and nothing can change that!
The obsessed fans that LIE about knowing or meeting a Boys or his family member(s). Thats just wrong! Barely anyone would believe you if you actaully DID meet or know them, so why bother?
Here's a couple PROS to being a Backstreet fan...
You know that they are other people who share your views. Even if you're one of the obsessed teenyboppers, theres still people just like that. And the same goes for the other fans, as Melo calls them, "Real Lifers." You're just never alone about it all.
You're barely ever ashamed of being a fan - except for when it comes to seeing other fans, the obsessie ones, going crazy and other people think and/or half expect you do be the same way. No no no no no.
You get to enjoy years worth of great music. Now some anti-Backstreeters might be reading this and think, "That music ain't great!" Duh! Thats why you're not a fan! Ok, back to the topic, the recorded music and/or tapes or performances will last forever, as long as you take good care of them. Thats all there is to it!
Die-hard fans (but not obsessed) compete with 'N SYNC fans (and other artists' fans) about who's better. Thats so fun! Especially if you love to debate things like that, like I do. Backstreet fans usually win, because there's more of them!
Fans help the Boys rise to the top, and you're glad to know you were a part of it, and that the Backstreet Boys wouldn't be around if you weren't a fan. Thats a great feeling that will probably never go away.
