Welcome to the band's page......

One of the most exciting and interesting bands currently playing in the North East of England.
Fronted by the striking and dynamic Claire Taylor, whose vocal range stretches from Bessie Smith to Bonnie Raitt, they blend contemporary blues based material with traditional blues and even strike out into the territory of jazz and improvisation. Guitar player John Dickens demonstrates a command of his instrument not usually seen in a local line-up and his gravel voiced vocals provide a vivid contrast when duetting with Claire. Playing fretted and fretless Fender bass, John Farmer plays to a standard only achieved by years of experience and dedication; the list of bands and musicians that he has worked for include many legends from the world of rock music. The drum stool is firmly pinned down by Kevin Appleton, whose fluid and solid style shows why he was such an asset to bands like The Toy Dolls.

THE BLUES CORPORATION are committed to excellence and display a depth of experience that only comes from dedication to their craft. Catch them soon, sit back and enjoy the show!

Wayne Huntingdon - The Journal

Since the above was written, in 1997, some major changes have taken place...

The Blues Corporation became THE CORPORATION in January 2000 with Claire continuing on vocals, John Farmer on bass and Kevin on drums. The 'terrible trio' were joined by Bob Garrington (ex Duck Soup) on guitar and Michelle Abela on keyboards. The new line up has a unique sound and feel, covering a wide range of material including some original stuff.
The Corporation split up in 2002 and now Claire has come back with a new line up The Buzzard Blues Band which was formed in 2006. The Buzzards had their first outing in Yarm on 2 April and will be playing at The Studio in Hartlepool on Thursday 13th April.
