ODD ONE OUT

Official Odd One Out web page: http://www.soundzgood.com/oddmusic

When they started: 1992

Where they're from: Ontario

Members:
Marc Florent: vocals, 12 string guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar, slide guitar, anything not tied down
Lee Ann McIntosh: vocals, flute
Douglas Hendry: vocals, 12 string guitars, mandolin

Where they met: All three were students at Ottawa University, and one day Marc happened to see Lee Ann playing in a pub (I think) with another guy on guitar. They talked a little but, soon parted. A while later, they happened to meet again, this time Marc learned that Lee Ann's guitarist had left and so Marc offered to replace him. Lee Ann accepted, and they became a duo. A while later they ran into Douglas, and he mentioned that he played the 12-string guitar, and they decided to add him to the group. After one day of playing together, they'd already written 2 songs. And so, the group now known as Odd One Out was born.

Other info: There's a warning on their official web page that warns of the dangers of their cd "A Spell We're Under". Saying that once you listen to this cd, it may take up permanent residence in your cd player. Well, I'm living proof that that statement is true. That cd took up residence in the family cd player for over 6 months. These guys (and girl) also put on an excellent live show. They're not as lively as most Canadian folk bands, but when you're watching them, you don't even notice. They may be one of Canada's finest "undiscovered" talents, but those who have discovered them know that maybe that's not so bad.
