Jaymz plays ESP Explorer and flying V guitars with EMG pick ups and Ernie Ball strings, Mesa Boogie Tir-Axis (crunch) and Roland Jazz Chorus (clean) are James'main set up.In the studio he uses many different guitar/amp combo's for different sounds in the studio
Other interests
He is a Raiders fan; he is also a hockey fan( the San Jose Sharks). Hes is also a hunter in his free time. And when there is time over and snow he likes to go snowboarding.

He worked in a sticker factory. He also played in other bands like Obsession, Leather Charm and Phantom lord

He wears a skull ring and a wolf pendant that belonged to Cliff, he is the creator of the original METALLICA logo, scary guy and the 4M star logo. James has appeared in 'guest roles' vocally on Danzig's first album and on COC' latest album 'WISEBLOOD' (opening act on the European leg of the POOR TOURING ME tour, and a few in the America tour also.

He was a founding member of San Francisco's EXODUS, he joined Metallica on 1st. of April, 1983 ( replacer of Dave Mustaine).His tattoo was a present to himself for Christmas 1995, and it says : Born in SF 11-18-62. It's wrapped around his belly button, that's not all, he has also hot rod flames on his thights.

Lars was a paper boy and gas station attendant, and he wanted to become a tennisplayer.

His father, Torben Ulrich, is a famous tennisplayer, it was due to an ad in the Recycler that he became a member of METALLICA, he sometimes (really sometimes) sing during Am I evil, he helped assemble a compilation of his favourite New Wave of British Heavy Metal songs and he recorded a drum track with Mercyful Fate for a remake of their song Return of the Vampire.
