Saying this show was great would be an understatement.  It was truly amazing!

It all started with my friend, Fernando, coming all the way from Brazil.  We met at the One Night Only weekend in NY and kept our friendship up with email.  Once we heard Elton was coming back to Atlanta, Fernando started making plans.  We were so excited about getting second row seats.  If I could do cartwheels, I would have.  We knew this was going to be a great night.

Once we got into the arena, we sat in our second row seats, infront of Elton's piano, beaming with excitement.  Fernando sat in the front row seat infront of his just until someone came to claim the seat or before the show started.  It was getting closer to showtime and the seat was still unclaimed, along with the one next to him, infront of my second row seat.  Then the lights went down and the crowd started to go wild for Elton.  I couldn't let the front row seat go to waste so I hopped over and prayed all night that no one would come for them.  And no one did!  Who the hell would get front row seats to see Elton and not show up?  That's a sin!  But, yay for us!  The whole night Fernando and I kept high fiving each other.  We couldn't believe our luck.

Elton came out and did 8 songs from Peachtree Road.  They sound so great live.  My favorite was They Call Her The Cat.  He really rocks out to that one, so much energy.  Then he played 8 classics.  Elton then gave us wonderful news...he was going to play some of Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy!  He said he planned on just doing them in Boston and New York, but knew he had to do the same for his other hometown.  What can I say...he loves us!

He may have recorded Captain Fantastic 30 years ago, but he sounds just as good if not better singing it now.  I got goosebumps when he sang We All Fall In Love Sometimes/Curtains.  So beautiful!  The graphics on the giant screen were very cool.  It was awesome seeing everyone's names from the original band.

Just after Curtains, we were given the "special signal".  The signal to run to the stage.  This is where we can actually stand at the stage and be just feet away from Elton.  I was able to get right infront of Elton and Fernando was one person over.  Again, we had to high five each other.  The night just gets better and better.  It's such a rush to be right infront of Elton, seeing him pound on the piano keys.  You feel like he's playing just for you.

Davey came over to sit with Elton on the bench while he was still playing the guitar.  He then held up his guitar pick as if to say, "Who wants it?"  I reached up as far as I could and yelled, "Davey!"  He placed it right into my palm.  Yay!  Then it was time for Elton's autograph sweep.  He started at the other end of the stage and made his way over.  I saw Fernando hold up his Captain Fantastic delux edition up and got it signed.  It's a really nice one too, Elton took his time with that one.  He then came my way and I held up the poster of Captain Fantastic.  He stood right infront of me and signed it.  I yelled, "Thank you, Elton!" and he smiled.  (sigh)

During the show, Elton kept saying how much he loves Atlanta.  I think we love him more.  He got a standing ovation after each song.  And you can tell Elton feeds off of the audience, he was so full of energy.  He kept pounding his fist into the air and even slammed his piano a few times.  I loved it when he held his fingers up and blew on them as if his fingers were on fire.  The band was awesome as well.  They put so much into each show, it almost looks like they're playing their first gig because they get so into it.  And the choir...awesome addition!  They sound great and they're a lot of fun.

This show is in a three way tie for my favorite show along with One Night Only and last year's Tabernacle show.  I will remember this one for a long time to come.  I think Fernando will too.  I'm so happy how things went for us at the show, it made his trip even more worth it.  Fernando and I are "Thankful".
