For the longest time I'd drive by The Guitar Center off of I-85 here in Atlanta, look at the picture of Elton on the front of their store and say, "I'd love to own that". Now I do. But not for long. I'm doing the unthinkable and auctioning off one of my most prized possesions for charity.
As I was driving home from work a couple months ago, I noticed the store took down the Elton picture along with some others and replaced them. I purchased the best picture and wanted to try to get Elton to sign it and then auction it off for the AIDS Walk Atlanta I was preparing for. Unfortunately I was unable to participate in the walk due to a car accident, but did raise some money thru the Internet. I was also unable to get the pictured signed at the time. However, I had the VERY HONOR of having Elton sign the picture just recently. I was tickled PINK! I've also decided to have all the proceeds go to EJAF.
The picture is 8ft tall and comes in two 4x8 halves. It is a kind of bendable plastic and is in TERRIFIC shape. The autograph is awesome! It's going to ve VERY hard to part with, but I know it's for a great cause. I think having been there while Elton signed it, Elton knowing what I'm doing with it and having him thank me is worth more than keeping the picture. I've taken many pictures of it so I will always have a part of it. I hope to raise a lot of money from this to make it all worth it.
