This page is brought to you by Jim Marx, one of the biggest fans of Richard Marx.
I have been a fan of Richard's since 1987. I like him not only for his music, but for what he stands for. I think he is a great musician and husband/father. In all of his interviews he talks about his sons, and how much he loves them. He isn't on the road like most musicians, his family is #1 with him, and I admire him for that. I think he should be a role model to all young men in the world.
What song/event made you realize Richard's talent?
I remember it like it was yeaterday. It was in the fall of 1987 the song was Don't Mean Nothing. I thought... Who the heck is this with this killer voice. I later found out it was some guy named Richard Marx. I then saw him open for REO Speedwagon in Muskegon. Boy how the women were throwing their bras, panties, etc. at him. Let's just say he immedaiately became my hero. Like Richard to Elvis, I thought "I wanna be like this guy and get the girls". Within a few months I had my hair styled identical to Richards. How I look back today and laugh!
A couple months later he had this song "Should've known better". Another killer song! I was 17 at the time and had only been driving for a while, but the line "I took my hands off the wheel" really caught me. Since that day (over 10 years), EVERY time I hear that phrase, I actually take my hands off the wheel. I've had a couple "close" calls over the years, but it's really fun to do. I do it till his voice fades out, which takes a bit of time, and at 60+ MPH is a bit risky! : ) I've also learned how to use my knee to steer when I have to.
I love all the ballads the best, but I do love all the others too. There isn't a song that I don't want to listen to. That's a lot to say, cause usually on an artists cd there will be one or more songs that I just can't stand. Not so with Richard's.
Not only is he a great artist and singer, but what really impresses me is the morals he has, and how he loves his wife and three boys. He's truly a different kind of person!
Keep Rocking with Richard Marx!!!!!
