What's New at this site and News on the Band



June 10 1999

Wow - it's been a long time since we let you know what we've been up to - sorry about that. We'll be sure to keep you more informed from now on. Well here's what's new with PENANCE:
  • Upcoming Gigs: June 18th - Wheaton, MD, Phantasmagoria w/ Pale Divine, Internal Void, and While Heaven Wept; June 26th - Pittsburgh, PA, The Upstage w/ November's Doom and Wickerman; August 14th Don't miss us at The Stoner Hand's Of Doom Festival !!!!!!!!
  • Our 3rd album "PROVING GROUND" will be recorded in July and released in the Autumn. Final track listing (sequence not yet determined) is as follows: Proving Ground, Bitter, Dead Already, Never Lost, Bleed You, Cloudless, Pain, Circle #9, Transcending, Slipping, Cast In Grey. As of now this CD will be released on our own - and we shall try to garner a label release for it once it comes out.
  • Our version of Bloodrock's "Wicked Truth" will appear on a forthcoming Bloodrock Tribute CD, to be released by RooLoo Records sometime this Summer. More updates about that as we know more.
  • Look for "Pain" to appear in Richard Anasky's film "I Am Vengeance" and possibly on its soundtrack album to be released by Meteor City.
  • "Cloudless" (demo version) will be appearing on "Steel City Aggression 3", a collection of Pittsburgh's heaviest bands.

      There’s a decent amount going on in the PENANCE camp so let’s get down to it:
    • -We played our first gig on September 12th, 1998 with This Tortured Soul (guitarist Chuck is also involved with Eric Wagner and LID) and The Silver Tongued Devils (comprised of 3 ex-EVICTION members). The show was a big success and we’re looking forward to getting back out to play again.
    • For those curious about the set list: Words Not Deeds/Dead Already/Bitter/Misgivings/Never Lost/I Won’t Budge/Bleed You/Monster I’ve Become. We also plan to rotate more old Penance material in and out of the set including : Penance, Crosses, Contemplation, Words To Live By, Reflections - just to name a few.
    • Speaking of old songs - I should mention that we have over an album’s worth of material written. In addition to the four tracks on our demo we’ve got: Pain, Transcending, Box Of Rage, Narrow Minded View, Slipping, Numb, Cloudless, Going Nowhere, and s few other tracks in their infancy. We’re hoping we can get our 3rd LP out in 1999.

    • We should soon be in the studio soon to record our version of the Bloodrock classic “Wicked Truth” for a Bloodrock Tribute CD due out in May of 1999 (something else to look forward to, in addition to the new STAR WARS movie ;))
    • PENANCE is also scheduled to play the “STONER HANDS OF DOOM FESTIVAL” to be held on August 14th in Maryland. Keep your eyes on this page for more details in the coming months.... That about wraps it up for now. Check back now and then for the latest !!!
