Slainte Mhath-the very first Canadian Musician's of the Week for Augusts 10.
Hey all!
I have the first Canadian Musician of the week!
This week, the Canadian Musician or I guess I should say Musicians are Slainte Mhath (pronounced Slawn cha va I believe)!
They are yet another great East coast band. They were nominated by a few people, and I did a bit of research on them before deciding. There is 5 members in the group...Lisa Gallant who is the newest member, Boyd MacNeil, a brother to the group The Barra MacNeil's I believe and not bad looking at all! Ryan MacNeil, another Barra MacNeil's brother, Bruce MacPhee who is yet another not bad looking member, and Stephanie Hardy, who is 18 years old. All the members are around the age, but I think one of them is 17. Their debut cd, Prophency was nominated for a 1998 East Coast Music Award for Instrumental group of the year. The band put all their thoughts and experiences into the cd, always keeping fans and others in mind. Their next cd was supposed to be released already, but inside sources told me that they are still working on it and its called "Music for the Kilted Generation". They have played with Great Big Sea, The Barra MacNeils, Natalie MacMaster, Ashley MacIsaac, Bruce Guthro, and Leahy just to name a few. They are a great band, young, and energetic. Almost all of their material is instrumental, but they are now starting to add vocals. At least this is what I've been told. Anyway, that's all I can really say about this band, except that after listening to their wavs on their site, I'm planning on buying the cd. Their homepage is located here and if you would like to learn more about them, find out about upcoming concerts, or join their mailing list, you can do so here, its a great page full of info about the group. Thanks for voting!
Cheers!
