Well, I had been planning this concert since I got the tickets. I got tickets a week after they went on sale, because I didn't know until then. Thank god for netphoria. I had been telling all my friends and counting down. I spent the night at my friend Seans house, who was my ride there. We woke up about 8, and I wore my siamese dream black and white SP shirt. We left and picked up another huge sp fan friend of mine, Lauren(with her sp heart shirt). It took us 2 hours to get to Shoreline. On they way there we listened to Pisces. We got in and found a place on the lawn. I saw about 5 fans with shirts on as I walked in. One of them by where we were sitting I approached and said nice shirt(adore cover shirt). We then talked about sp for a bit. Two more sp fans approached us, one with a 666 pumpkins shirt. We talked and read past issues of mojo and AP with the pumpkins in it. There was another group of about 3 pumpkins fans who didn't talk to us, but one of them had the coolest backpack. She had clipped a lot of little pictures of the band(mostly Billy) and put them in her transparent plastic bag. At about 2:10 the concert started. Neil Young went on then Emmylou Harris which was pretty boring. There was a set change and then the who went on. They were pretty good. Then the host guy said after a set change they would be back with a Halloween tradition. We are gonna be smashing some pumpkins. We all screamed at the top of our lungs in excitement. We had to wait 10 minutes(which seemed like forever). Then he came back out and said please welcome Billy Corgan and James Iha. It didn't seem like many people were excited, they were mostly in there 40s. Billy was wearing all black with his hat that covered to his eyebrows. James had a top hat and was also wearing black. You could hear all the sp fans scream and holler their names. James started it off with an amazing performance of 'Summer'. That is the best I have ever heard James sing live. Billy then played 'If there is a god' which I had hoped he would play. I was sooo thrilled he did. He then kicked into another song, which one of my sp buddies said was Stay by U2. Then they welcomed as special guest Jimmy ,who was introduced as Ian Pase. It was now all the pumpkins. Billy then teased with a Deep Purple song for 3 seconds. Jimmy was wearing a white shirt. After that James played a cover called 'ol 55' which today I found out was by Tom Waits. During that song Billy looked at us and winked. I could see this through my binoculars. I confirmed it with another sp fan who also saw it through binoculars. I froze in the sight of godliness. Then Billy said that he was going to play a new song. He laughed a few times before he said it was called how do you follow the who on a sunday afternoon. And then said it was called 'The Age of Innocence'. He said if you like it we'll put it on our new album and if you don't we won't. It was a really good song. I was very impressed and hope they put it on the new album. He then said he was going to play a song called 'Glass and the Infinite Children', then was corrected(by Jimmy, I think) and it was Glass and the Ghost Children. I thought it was better than the ones from April, but maybe I was just impressed so much because I was there. The finale' was the best part. They closed with 'DISARM'. When he started ,the crowd went wild. Finally one people would recognize. I was a little teary eyed at the seeing and hearing this powerful song being played before me. We all agreed it was the best version of Disarm ever. Billy played the first part solo, then James and Jimmy kicked in. It built up so much emotion. It was amazing and viephoric. After that Billy said thanks. While he was leaving he threw his hat in the air and caught it, took a bow and left. We screamed til we were horse. About 3 older guys asked us where those songs were from and how talented sp was. After that we went to get a drink but instead found a bunch of sp fans standing by a framed picture of the pumpkins on the wall of fame. We all took pictures and then went out on a mission to find them. We went up to a higher platform where more stands were and peered over to see where backstage was. Some guy said he saw Billy but he left. He also said he saw D'arcy and all 15 of us kind of laughed. We thought he was lying about the whole thing until I saw Billy and Yelena(I think) walking around and chatting. We all yelled and hollered but to no success. After a bit he walked out of site. We stood by where VIP people would walk in. We asked a bunch of people if they would let us borrow there passes. No one let us. This one kid standing next to this girl with a Remy Zero shirt(Remy Zero is a good band) got to borrow a pass. After an hour, we went back. We had missed the Brian Wilson and Lucinda Williams sets(oh no). We saw Green Day and Pearl Jam, who did pretty good. We left half way through Sheryl Crow. I don't think I will ever forget this Halloween. It was the best Halloween, if not the best day, I have ever had. It was my first concert. I was saving it for the pumpkins and it was worth it!
