How to Kickflip

An explanation of how to kickflip.
1. Before you try this trick, make sure you are comfortable with ollies. After learning the kickflip, you will be able to progress to other flip tricks.
2. Setup like you would for an ollie, except have your front heel hang off the board at a 45 angle. Crouch down and keep your shoulders inline with the board.
3. Now start like you were gonna ollie, but when you slide your front foot up, you instead flip the board with the side of your foot.
4. Now for the landing. There is absolutely nothing to this. If you followed the steps, and are on Earth, the gravity will bring the board down. All you do is to stay over the board and you land.
5. Land and keep rolling away.
6. Note: keep practicing and you will see what I mean by this. The most important part is landing, even if you do a 1/2 flip. So concentrate on keeping your feet over the board instead of landing with one foot or something.
7. Good Luck!

Troubleshooting - Are you having a problem trying to kickflip?
(1) My front foot doesn't end up on the board.
You probably are kicking too hard or turning (see below). Flick the board to get it to spin and then consciously get it back to the area over the board.
(2) My back foot doesn't end up on the board.
Maybe you realize it or not, but this is often due to fear (aka chickenfooting). Get over your uncertainty by trying this trick on the grass or something and forcing both feet to hover over the board.
(3) When I land, my body is turned.
Keep your upper body parallel to the board as much as possible so your legs don't turn. Let the board flip under you.
