Born 1969, Marcelo Cross become one of the most charismatic and controversial characters of the early ‘80’s uruguayan rock.Leading the almost legendary power trio Cross, he broke into the Uruguayan scene circa 1984 recovering the purest roots of the Uruguayan ‘60’s &'70's "Now" legendary rock bands like Los Mockers, Los Shakers, El Kinto, Días de Blues & Opus Alfa. This Lp is a collection of songs that for many different reasons weren’t included in Cross’ discography, consequently they have never been officially issued, except for “Spiral” (B1). All the songs in this album show us a gloomy Marcelo wrapped in cryptic hallucinations. It has been this dangerous flirting with madness what made him to be referred to, both in his original country and in Argentina too, as a modern South American Syd Barrett. “Needles In The Sky” is not a bunch of songs that could bring something new or fresh to the Rioplatense rock or to rock in general but if we take into account the present scene and latin rock (??) devaluated proposal, it’s possible that something of that true lineage of the sacred mushroom and mescaline influenced latin bands could still be found in this record. We are talking about the same feeling that has slowly vanished under market and fashion pressures and that nowadays invariably condemn our bands to never make history anymore.......
