The Story :- 'Here's a story of a lovely lady ...'
Two or three years ago Peter A {"Must add that "A"..."} and Arthur were
attending Guitar lessons at the ever hip and groovy and young Melbourne
institution, the Rock'n'Roll High School. Peter A and Arthur were getting
so good at playing their guitars (Arthur in particular) that they started
to think... "I should find another Guitar player who can play Lead Guitar
(Peter), or Rhythm Guitar (Arthur)." They had known each other for a while,
but not as fine Guitar players and songwriters. Around this time also a
young female, Maureen was learning Guitar and Drums, at the Rock'n'Roll
High School also. [Maureen's partner, Tim was and still is playing in the
band called Grace {nothing wrong with that name!}]
Rock'n'Roll High School soon saw that Peter,
Arthur and Maureen should practice together and see how that went ("...
in that tiny room in Richmond"). It went so well, that Peter, Arthur and
Maureen are now the core of what has become known as (to very few people
mind you, thanks to ...?@#*!)... MELISSA'S PARTISAN...
Later on, Tricia, a young woman learning Bass Guitar
at the Rock'n'Roll High School, was drafted in to play the aformentioned
instrument. She would play Bass with the group and record on a 3
track demo, (one of these tracks 'Biggest Critic' appears on the 3rd Rock'n'Roll
High School Compilation CD).
Unfortunately, the arrangement of Tricia playing
Bass, didn't quite work out and now they were about to play some shows.
They then drafted in Tim (Maureen's marital partner), whom had been practicing
with them on a casual basis at their [becoming frequent] other (?) rehearsal
day on Tuesdays, at a location other than Rock'n'Roll High School. With
Tim, they then played three gigs, in late '97, but soon realised that the
new arrangement of Tim playing Bass in the group, was not quite working
out for now.
In late 1997, they started auditioning for a new
bass player, several bass players around Melbourne, were asked to try out,
my good self (Simon!) was one of these bass players. I attended a rehearsal
at RNRHS [Yes, I have been taking lessons at the school, learning Bass
Guitar and Drums(?!@#*] and have been drafted into the fold since January/February
1998.
Since January/February 1998, we have played shows
every month since April, with groups such as Skip
Tracer, Doloris, Unbenumb and Kacha (Another band formed at Rock'n'Roll
High School). [A reasonably diverse bunch of acts listed there, you would
agree!] We also performed at the Rock'n'Roll High School Compilation #3
CD Launch, which included acts such Sheraw, (the ever fabulous) Tirany,
Tuff Muff, Bindi and Oiska.
In September / October, however band members argued over recording new stuff and Simon has since left (or told to f*** off / "walk the plank ..."). The band are now doing what they please and Simon is busy with other stuff principly with his University studies (which none of MP, have been able to achieve).
Recently, Tim whom filled in for Tricia, before the arrival of Simon has returned to Bass duties...

News / Links :-
This WWW homepage operator, Simon has departed from Melissa's Partisan. This ends his nine month association / tenure with this band. There were plenty reasons why he departed, these are some of the key reasons...
Those certain members of band, 'ganged up' on him and asked him to leave.
Certain members of band, he thought he could trust, were patently untrustworthy.
The newer songs of MP, did not involve any of his input (making him feel, as he did all along, a bit of a hired hand) and seemed to him to be keeping these new songs secret / away from him.
The attempt by MP to then record new MP songs, when he was still in the band without his attendance. (Despite them achieving virtually nothing, when they actually tried).
m m m m Musical differences, for example, see the following set of links.
Having seen certain bands / acts and written his own stuff on Bass, he was 'getting the itch' to get his own band together or a band with people he knew liked similiar sort(s) of music to him.
