Pantastic

Unique Steel Drum Entertainment

Pantastic is Sandra L. Hall. She spent three years of intense training from one of the original pan pioneers, Herman "Rock" Johnston. "Rock" was a member of "The North Stars" of Trinidad, and was dubbed "King of Pan Men". Her lead tenor pan, custom made by Mr. Johnston, is quite unlike most pans used today. Sandra's pan consists of 36 notes. These extra notes were invented by "Rock" to accommodate the playing of classical pieces. In 1962 the Pan Am North Stars, of which he was a member, won a music festival competition after playing Strauss's "Voices of Spring". "That heralded a new day for the steel drum", according to Mr. Johnston. Sandra, a former member of the "Johnston Fantastic Symphony Steel Orchestra" has been doing solo work since 1997 and has played some interesting venues. August 1, 1998 she played at the world famous Weeki-Wachee Springs in Weeki-Wachee, Florida (Photo below ...note Mermaid enjoying the pan). Living in Spring Hill, Florida, she is available for small parties (pool, graduation, birthday etc.), grand openings, or any school function that would further the appreciation of the pan. Sandra is quite adept at interactivity with school children.
