Indy KISS Expo Review
2/13/2K
From: TangerineLK
Several hundred fans showed up at this years Indy KISS Expo (renamed the UNION Expo by some of us!!) There were many dealer booths and loads of old and new KISS memorabilia traded hands. The UNION booth stayed very busy all day!! Everyone there was treated to hearing THE BLUE ROOM, not once, but twice!! Bill Starkey, founder of the KISS Army, did an informative Q & A.
There was one very sour note on the day - someone stole Bruce's guitar. This was not something the band needed - they had already endured some airline snafu's and arrived late in Indy, and were very tired from the previous nights show in New York.
Brain Duster, a local cover band, warmed up the crowd (like we needed it!!), including KISS' "Parasite". Then, what we all were waiting for!!!! UNION!!!!!!!! Opening with "Old Man Wise", the adrenaline rush kicked in!!!! UNION went non-stop for about 75 minutes, playing "Do Your Own Thing", "Dead", "Who Do You Think You Are", and "Hypnotize" from THE BLUE ROOM. John did warn the parents about the ummm, ...word..., in WDYTYA, stating they could "Take the kiddies to the restroom!". They also performed "Jungle" and "Man in the Moon", as well as , "Love (I Don't Need it Anymore)" and "Heavy D". Bruce had a bit of a problem during "I Walk Alone" when his guitar strap came unhooked, prompting a change in lyrics to "I got no STRAP, I got no home.....", a hint to the tech to "get over here and fix this!!" But being the profesional he is, he never missed a lick! Brent and James provided thundering rhythm throughout the set. I believe those two earned a lot of new fans after the show they put on!! Alas, it seems the how had just begun, and then it was over."Time flies when you're having fun," was never more true.
The guys retired to the autograph line and obliged every last fan with an autograph, a picture perhaps, and a thank you. Brent, John, James, and Bruce - WE THANK YOU!!!!!!! It was wonderful to meet all the folks we chat with on the UnionAsylum bulletin board, meeting new people, and hopefully bringing some new fans into the UNION fold!!!!
A HUGE thank you to Keith Leroux for planning yet another awesome expo (a big thanks to Michelle Leroux also!!). I'm already looking forward to the next one!! Everyone be ready for THE BLUE ROOM on the 22nd, and get set for what is going to be one kick-ass tour!!!
