Ever Dying by In Flames - this song is pretty good. Some dude named H. Forss is doing the vocals. He's alright. The song feature some single note riffing and an acoustic guitar ending. It's a pretty intense song. The acoustic guitars sound beautiful. More In Flames

Wounded and Alone by Eucharist - this song's intro is great. The song features a lot of tremolo picking melodies. The production is pretty thin and weak, though. The drums are pretty fast and tight as hell. Yet another great song ruined by shitty recording.

The Predictable End by Eucharist - this song has an interesting intro. They have a highly original guitar tone. The intro riff becomes a theme of the song. I don't really care much for this song.

Punish My Heaven by Dark Tranquillity - this song has convinced me even further of how talented Mikael Stanne is behind the microphone. The production is kind of cheesy and thin but it's clear. This version is a bit faster than the one that appeared on "the Gallery." The vocals are all the same as the version that appeared on "the Gallery" except for one part. Mikael has the talent of channeling his soul throught the mic and into your mind. More Dark Tranquillity

Where Dead Angels Lie by Dissection - starts off with an acoustic intro and then they do some melodic tremolo picking. The production seems a bit wimpy but the song is pretty cool. It has some dissonant melodies and pretty damn good vocals.

Elisabeth Bathori by Tormentor, performed by Dissection - is a good song. There's a lot of evil melodies and some atmosphere to it. It makes me wonder how Tormentor' version sounded. More Dissection

Forever Not to Be by Miscreant - this song has a nice intro. The song is o.k. but it do anything for me. It wasn't bad but it wasn't something that's worth listening to over and over.

New Sun by Ceremonial Oath - I like this song. It has melodic death metal riffing and melodic tremolo picking too. Anders Friden is "singing," though I don't care his vocals.

The Shadowed End by Ceremonial Oath - starts off with a heavy and then melodic riff. This song is ok. I wonder if Sundin writes the lyrics for this band like he does for In Flames?

En Pan by Mourning Sign - I don't like this song. It's too death metal for me. None of the riffs appeal to me and the cymbals have no sustain to speak of. It sucks. Bad.

Black Erotica by Katatonia - this song is pretty slow and almost to the point of being doom metal. The production is kind of crappy. The music is nice and depressing, the way I like it!

Love of the Swan by Katatonia - I like this song a lot. It's got an emotional riff in the begining. I just like the way this band does riffs and shit. I don't really like the vocals. I think they sound kind of dumb. Another almost doom metal offering from songwriter, Blackheim.

Still in Search by Purgatorium - This song's guitars are really compressed. As a matter of fact, the whole band sounds muffled. The riffs in this song are kind of heavy but I like it. The vocals could be better but the production probably contributes to the crapiness of the vocals. I swear if this song had the production Dark Tranquillity had, the song would be great. The way it was recorded makes it sound so flat. The dynamics are as consistent as a "born again" Christian going to Church.
