System of a Down with Incubus at the Birch Hill Nite Club in Old Bridge, NJ. October 17, 1998 7:30 P.M.
The concert started with some group called Mudbox or something similar to that. I liked them and most of the crowd did too. They had a hardcore sound mixed with a little coal chamber or korn. They had some well placed yells and good dance solos, all of which made their set good. Next was a group called Slack.
They used a keyboard player also who put in samples and did some stuff with the lead singers vocals. Though i didnt really like them and i dont know why just not my style. Next up was a group called Split from Buffalo or something. They had no guitar player and had two singers. There songs were just rap with a bass guitar. It was kinda easy going, and some people liked them while others thought they were terrible. I had no opinion of them. Now finally it was time for System of a Down. I cant remember the
order of songs but here is a list of what they played: Suite-Pee, Sugar, Know, War?, Suggestions, Spiders, Ddevil, Soil, a new song called Honey, Peephole, and a few more. Serj inbetween songs would state a few lines about sex or about politics. The whole band looked as though they were tripping. The music was a little faster than on cd and Serj used a megaphone at times to increase effect through the microphone. The crowd was super energetic and there was a lot of movement going on, which i took part in. This was the first time i saw System of a Down by themselves (i saw them at Ozzfest 98) and i was impressed. They really know how to put on a good energetic show. Me and my friends left after them
because none of us like Incubus. I'm sure they were good also. Later
