I'm 17 years old (born 06.23.82) and I'm living in Denmark. Most people (especially americans) don't know what Denmark is. I once traded with a guy, who thought it was a city in Texas... Well, not excactly. It's a small country in Europe, with 5 million citizens. Not much, if you're from the US or Canada, I know. But we still have Hans Christian Anderson, the former European champions in soccer (called football in europe), Victor Borge, Tycho Brahe and... well, nevermind. I live in a small city called Tranbjerg, close to Denmark's 2nd biggest city, Aarhus. If you have Green Day's Stuck With Me single, you may know this city, 'cause the B-sides where recorded there ! (I was at the show, so maybe you can hear me screaming !)... I just finished school, and I'm now at the gymnasium, having mostly language. I just wrote an essay on Green Day, and got an A ! Well, actually I got 11, but you don't know that in the US... In Denmark our grades goes from 00 or 03 (the lowest) up untill 13, but there's no 02, 04 or 12. So 11 is the best, you only get 13, if your work is absolutely amazing. Happens once or twice a year. I go to school 8 hours a day, and then there's 1 hour of homework, so there's not much time for tape trading, and updating this page... When I'm not at school I play soccer in the local club AIA Tranbjerg, and I also play the guitar. I have the excact same guitar Billie Joe has, only difference is the colour, mine is black and white ! I can play most of Green Day's songs (Don't get too excited, they are pretty easy), but that's also the only band I play ! Well, that's not true, I also play Riverdales, Pinhead Gunpowder, Foo Fighters, Weezer, Silverchair and much more, but Green Day is THE main inspiration. I've been a massive Green Day fan since I was 12 years old. Well, I wasn't massive then, but I've become pretty hardcore. I have more than 30 Green Day CD's, and 30-40 Green Day related CD's. They include Weezer ('cause the band digs them), the Muffs (Billie likes them), Pinhead Gunpowder (Billie's other band) and Ramones (big inspiration). Green Day is everywhere in my everyday life, in my head, on my stereo, on my walls, in my books at school, on the school tables, yeah, probably everywhere you can write their name, or put a picture of them. Some people may say I'm obsessed, and I can't say I'm not, but you know, it's not like I'm gonna kill myself if they break up or anything (well, actually, maybe I will anyway...) but they are the one and only band ! I hope that about covers it, (It doesn't, I know) but more to come, maybe...Why I made this webpage:
I'm totally crazy about Green Day and 3 months ago (counting from today, 09.01.98) I was introduced to tape trading. Since I had all 5 Green Day albums, all their singles, their two Lookout EP's and a few bootlegs, I figured that this was the only way I could expand my collection. I simply had every single Green Day related item. Then I started trading, but it was pretty annoying typing in my entire list of bootelgs and email it to people, everytime I wanted to trade. So I started fiddling around with this page, and after a few days, I decided to put it out on the internet. The first few days nothing happened, but now, it helps me get lots of trades going, and the rest is history.What I think of Green Day and their music:
I like to think that I'm the biggest Green Day fan in the world ! Since I heard Pulling Teeth on my local radio station, and bought Dookie, I have been totally obsessed with this band ! Within a week I had bought all three Green Day albums (39/Smooth, Kerplunk! and Dookie) and on the day of it's release I bought forth album, Insomniac. And Since that I have bought every single and every bootleg and every magazine with Green Day, every poster, every T-shirt. Even though I never pin up half of the posters, or read half of the magazines, I just have to have it. Call me insane, my family and friends does. And the klimax came this summer, when I went to the Skanderborg festival and got to play Knowledge with the band, using Billie's guitar ! I really like the band and their sound, and their personalities. I mean, when did you ever see a boring interview, or a boring show, with Green Day ? NEVER ! These guys are simply the greatest entertainers this world has ever seen ! From my point of view the band has never made a bad song, they simply all rule, and it's impossible to name a favorite, 'cause it changes all the time ! And a fave album ! The only album I don't like as much as the others, is Dookie, the 4 others are simply to great to pick a favorite from. Not that I think Dookie is bad, it's still one of the greatest albums ever made, but still, it's the Green Day album I enjoy the least ! My favorite member is Billie Joe, not because he's the frontman, and the guy from the magazines, but I think it's because of him playing the guitar, just like I do ! I've been at two Green Day shows, both here in Denmark, one in 95 and one here in 98 ! But I hope to see them in Germany, Denmark and Sweden when they come back to europe some time ! Facts about my relationship to Green Day: FAVORITE SONG: Christie Road, JAR, Nice Guys Finsih Last, Suffocate and Android. But there are so many others I like just as much. I'll probably just have to write all their songs when I have the time for it... FAVORITE ALBUM: Sometimes Nimrod, sometimes 39/Smooth, and sometimes Kerplunk! When I'm in an aggresive kind of mood, it's Insomniac. FAVORITE MEMBER: Billie Joe ! FAVORITE SINGLE RELEASE: Time of your life due to the awesome B-sides ! FAVORITE VIDEO: Hmmm, Long View or Walking Contradiction. FAVORITE LYRIC FOR A SONG: Time of your life, Platypus, Suffocate or any other song wrote by Billie ! He's a genius !
