I Rutti Lunghi

A virtual interview (by Paola)

I Rutti Lunghi is a young and extremely interesting band. It was a cold dutch winter afternoon when I met them. They amazed me with their music, seduced me with their melancholic melodies, their rock riffs. Pain, love, life, magic, everything mixed. I danced for hours through their music, and I was finally exhausted when I had the chance of talking with them.

How long do you play together?

Signe: Less than three months I guess. But we already had few problems: we changed drummer, we changed a lot of songs. It is a challenge.

What kind of music do you play?

Giuseppe: It's very hard to give definition to art, especially if you are doing something new; I would say, we play simply international post-natal neophenomenal ringing pris, to be more precise pop.

Why do you play music?

Mathias: My only goal in playing music is to hear :"an de gitarre MATHIAS LANG" during a concert or even in a record. Personally I don't see any other reason why people should play music.

You do it for the fame.

Mathias: I would say GLORY. I see my name written in the sky of celebrity, together with some others like Jimi Hendrix or Pat Metheny.

Is "I rutti lunghi" your first musical experience?

Signe: Not at all! I sing since I was twelve. I must say that I really improved since then!

Sounds promising. What bands or artist do you get inspired from?

Jan: We don't refer directly to any other band; we do our own things, except from the fact that we play only covers

I'm curious now. What covers do you play?

Martijn: Don't ask me, I don't know. Unfortunately I couldn't follow too much what's going on in the band, you know, I'm always late at rehearsal, sometimes I even don't go. But if you want I can tell you a lot about kayaking.

No thanks. Does anybody know more about covers?

Giuseppe: To cover is irrelevant. Discover is more important. For example, playing with I Rutti Lunghi made me discover the lesbian which lives in me. I am another person now.

How did you come to the name I Rutti Lunghi?

Jan: Some journalists wrote that it comes from the italianisation of the family name of the guitar players. I do not believe that. Actually I Rutti Lunghi means "The Long Burps": well, that's what we do better, that's what we like to do, that's what our music is about.
