Orgy Tribute to Blondie

For one night only, the members of Orgy, Buckcherry, and Black Grape will come together to form a Blondie tribute band slated to hit the stage at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles on June 3 for the celebrated monthly nightclub Makeup.

Gearing up to take on such classics as "Heart Of Glass," "Call Me," and "Rapture" is Orgy guitar-synthesist Amir Derakh, Buckcherry guitarist Yogi, and Black Grape bassist Danny Saber along with Hepcat trumpeter Kincaid Smith and the Toilet Boys' female-impersonating singer Miss Guy.

Other musical guests spotlighted in the all-star cover band for a single song (or two) include Makeup mainstay Alexis Arquette, Gen of Genitorturers, former Plexi drummer Norm Block, Xander Smith of Other Star People, Paul III of Caviar, Vylette of Astropanties, Plavka of U.K. Superstar, Candace Cane, and Miss Alana.

Also on hand will be cult heroine Julie Strain, the star of the sci-fi animated film "Heavy Metal 2000." For more information, check out the club's Web site at www.clubmakeup.net.

Punk-pop pioneers since 1974, Blondie helped bring the new wave movement to the mainstream with its 1978 breakthrough album "Parallel Lines," while the group's charismatic frontwoman, Deborah Harry, put a photogenic face on the gritty New York scene of the late '70s. The group disbanded in 1982 and reformed in 1998 with most of its original members, releasing the album "No Exit" the following year. 1
