"Possessing the Secret of Joy" by Alice Walker. This is a novel which explores the traumas that a
woman faces after undergoing FGM.
"Prisoners of Ritual" by Hanny Lightfoot-Klein. This is one of the most intensive books that has been
written on FGM in Africa and more particularly in the Sudan.
