This is a description of, well, me, Lukas Hoffland.
(Oh, in case you're wondering where "Lu-koss" came from, it's a college nickname I got from a couple floormates, who had a tendency to call people's names with an emphasis on the 2nd syllable in their name, so "Lukas" becomes "lu-KOSS").
My hometown is Eau Claire, WI, and lived there from 1978-1983, and also since 1986. I was born on May 19, 1978 in La Crosse, WI (though my family lived in Genoa, WI at the time), and have also lived in Bloomington, MN (few months in 1979), Whitefish Bay, WI (few months in 1983), and Grafton, WI (1983-1986).
My dad is the News Director at WEAU TV-13 in Eau Claire, and my mom has a B.A. in vocal music education from Luther College and an M.A. in piano performance from Western Illinois University, is a professional musician, and also gives private music lessons at home.
Right now I'm in Eau Claire, serving as Promotions Director/Afternoon Drive DJ for I-94 (WIAL-FM 94.1), a Hot AC station. I'm also Webmaster for the I-94 site, as well as NewsTalk 790 and ESPN 1150. In addition to that, I also do commercial production. I'm also hosting a program on CTV11 (public access) called "Sportsvue", where I bring in members of the area sports media and discuss sports issues. On the odd occasion I substitute teach, getting a little use out of my music ed. degree.
From 1996-2001 I attended Luther College in Decorah, IA, where I graduated in May 2000 with a B.A. and am majored in Music Education. The reason I was at Luther until 2001 is because I student taught to get my teaching certification the fall after I graduated.
At Luther I was mainly involved in the music department. Being a vocal major, I was in many ensembles, including Nordic Choir, Collegium Musicum, Vocal Jazz I and took voice lessons, in addition to working in the music office and computer lab.
I also did radio with KWLC-AM 1240, Luther's radio station, for three years. Specifically, I was one of their sports announcers, doing play-by-play and "color" (analysis) during the games. KWLC Sports broadcasts Luther football, women's basketball and men's basketball games. I also had a radio show my senior year, "First Monday" (usually held on the second Monday of the month for some odd reason), which was inspired by the TV show "Politically Incorrect".
I am a fan of basically everything Minnesota (my mom's from there, so that's probably why). Vikings, Twins, T-Wolves, Gophers, Wild, even the Lynx!
Fave music includes Genesis (and solo projects), Duran Duran, The Beatles, and many others. My fave music genre has to be the 1980's!
And, well, if you wanna see what I actually look like, at least during my sophomore year in college, check here.
